[QUOTE="Tylendal"][QUOTE="schitzonix"] The Wii appeals to a different market than traditional consoles, this is absolutely impossible to deny no matter how hard the original poster tries. Nintendo has been muscled out of the hardware war by monster companies and that is also a fact. Nintendo just cant afford losing money per console like Sony and MS are doing, period. So hence we have the Wii, a console aimed ALMOST exclusively at casual and untapped non-gamer markets, and thats an OBVIOUS fact that the original poster also denies.
The PS3 made what historically have been "system dooming" choices. Starting with the much criticized price tag and the fact that the price tag is NOT justified at all by the features. The much touted graphic engineisyet to show that it'smore powerful than that of the 360.The only reason that the people like the original poster haven't completely disregarded Sony is ONLY because of the success of the PS2, otherwise it'd be another Jaguar, 3DO or Dreamcast... no effin doubt.
I certainly appreciate the original poster's attitude. He wants to be some sort of peacemaker amongst trolls. The problem is that he is doing it in the "system wars" forum" and that fact just renders his John Lennon impersonation moot.

Funny how 90% or more of those games feature cartoony children-friendly graphics... although that wasn't my point at all. I'm just going to dismiss you since you're someone who believes that "Excite Truck", "Mario Strikers", "Generic Kirby Games" and even good old "Mario Kart" that has been the same since 1992 are "hardcore" games. Clearly a hardcore game for you is a shallow, simplistic rehash of another equally bad game.
To make things worse you put the most complex and, next to Galaxy, most compelling game of the lot (Animal Crossing) along with the "casual" list. Good job. You posted 25 games out of which6 can be considered to be geared towards the more hardcore lot (Galaxy, Fire Emblem, Disaster, Brawl, Zelda, Metroid and Animal Crossing). At some point gamers will stop buying into some Nintendo franchises that are WAY burnt out (read: im not against sequels, but these have been going on for more than 15 years, even 20 for zelda and mario).
Older gamers like myself that have been around since the original NESstill enjoy the tired franchises but CERTAINLY wish for something fresh, and the only fresh material that Nintendo is delivering does not appeal to my age group AT ALL, say what you like... but Pokemon is not exactly my cup of tea, and if you're 27 years old and like it, then you have other issues that are better discussed with your shrink during serious therapy.
Also note that I'm not even gonna bother mentioning the Wii's graphic engine at this point since its pointless. From a raw software standpoint there is simply very litte there and as long as the big corporations can dish out large chunks of cash to keep their exclusives while Nintendo can't, all we're gonna see are more Mario/Zelda/Metroid/MarioKart remakes that have the exact same concepts from 20 years ago.
Again, if you're young or just missed out on all the early NES/SNES/N64 Nintendo titles, which probably means you just woke up from a coma or were stranded on an island for the past 15 years or so, then by all means run out and get them! They're ****cs and the new versions of those play nearly identical, just 3d rendered and a different POV.
In fact, I'll take that back right now, just go play all the NES/SNES games from those franchises, they're far better. Then with the money you savedgo get a REAL next generation console, or just upgrade your current PC if its within your reach. That way you won't miss out on REAL next gen games.
*disclaimer: This is written exclusively from the point of view of a 27 year old jaded gamer who has played every console imaginable since 1985. I don't pretend to share the same take on the issue as a teenager or less.
This list is made by what market Nintendo is aiming for. You cannot deny that a game like Animal Crossing was targeted towards children. Also, if you've played games as much as you say you have, you woudn't call Kirby a "Shallow, simplistic, rehash, of a bad game" Mario Kart is one of the most popular racing games there is, with huge tournements, while Excite Truck is greatly challenging. Finally, I didn't create this list myself. Other System Wars posters helped me sort these games into the two categories. On top of that, all those games you dissed? Are you telling me that you'd never want to play them?
