TGS hasn't even finished...
Anyways, Namco has 3 Tales games, a God Eater game, a Ridge Racer game, Tekken, and more that I'm probably forgetting.
Square has Final Fantasy Type-0, XIII-2, Lord of Apocalypse, KH3D, Bravely Default, and more.
Konami has Beyond the Labryinth, Frontier Gate, LKS 2, their HD collections, and more.
Capcom has MH, MvsC, Street Fighter, RE, and more.
Level-5 has Ni no Kuni and most likely plenty of 3DS games, I don't know.
The Japanese industry isn't dead at all. The reason why there aren't many console games from Japanese companies is because there's no point in making them when their primary audience has moved to handhelds.
... No?
Dark Souls, Project Draco, MGS Rising, NG 3, Res Evil Revelations, SM 3D Land, Lollipop Chainsaw, ect. ect.
I'm definitly more western orintated. Like it or not the Japanese don't have the grip like they used to on the gaming industry.
However if you are still into there games there are plenty of them you will still enjoy.
i agree but Capcom changed name to cRapcom this gen. Dont forget it !! :)TGS hasn't even finished...

Dude, that game is a ways off. I don't think we'll be seeing much of that game anytime soon. What I want to know is, where the f*** is Devil's Third?
DarkLink77
What?
Capcom Dragon's Dogma,Street Fighter x Tekken,Monster Hunter 4,Ultimate Marvel vs Capcom,Resident Evil 6 ( might suck just like RE5), Asura's Wrath and etc.
Namco Bandai Soul Calibur 5,Tales of Xilla ( although I don't really care for RPG's ),Ace Combat Assault Horizon,Tekken Tag 2,Ridge Racer and etc
Konami Never Dead,Metal Gear Rising ( I have a feeling this game will suck ), Blade of time and etc.
Sega Binary Domai.
Platinum Anarchy Reign.
From Software Dark Souls and Armored Core 5.
Tecmo Koei Ninja Gaiden 3 and Dead or Alive 5.
etc etc etc.
Too many damn games to list and plenty more to be announced.
I think the Japanese games industry should divorce western game design completely and stick to making great Japanese games, with their usual distinctive Japanese gameplay... and not give two flips what the west thinks.Piroshkiugh...that's what they been doing and failing.

There are exceptions, like Atlus, Monolith Soft, Platinum Games (which is a compendium of incredible talent, by the way), From Software and ofcourse Nintendo.

I agree, beside that 3DS Square RPG with the funny name (blavely something), none other made any impression to me like the glorious old days of FF7-8-9 etc
JRPGs are dead, long live hybrids like Dark Souls (preordered two days ago)
Cant wait for Project Draco though, hope it has some RPG elements too and Zelda SS of course
Come to think of it, some of the most stylish and unique games do come from Japan, so maybe it is far worst in numbers, but not outright dead
I think the japanese game industry is better than the western one. Although the western one has its fair share of gems but too many copy-pasted shooters.
They can even make a shooter better than the west: Vanquish
kuraimen
I think I agreed with you the other day, and I agree again. It is funny that people hype Gears of War 3, yet Vanquish is STILL the better made game.

I'm sorry I finished Vanquish and in no way shape or form would I ever say it's better than Gears...but to each their own

It controls much better and has deeper gameplay. Comparing the two is like comparing Street Fighter(vanquish) to Mortal Kombat(Gears).

I don't see any good games there.
I think the Japanese games industry should divorce western game design completely and stick to making great Japanese games, with their usual distinctive Japanese gameplay... and not give two flips what the west thinks.PiroshkiCOMPLETELY agreed. Which is why Skyward Sword is shaping up to be such a unique experience. Free form the shackles of "trends" and whatnot.

I disagree. It's the Japanese games that are attempting to mimick western games that are failing. The franchises that haven't drastically changed their gameplay are still great.

It controls differently...Marcus isn't some skinny dude in a rocket suit
Not to mention the story was horrible and the voice acting was even worse...I did enjoy the game I just don't think it's in the same league

i'm playing vanquish right now...while enjoyable, it's a cheap imitation of gears. can't even hold a candle to it.
Wait a second, which game are you talking about here? Not to mention the story was horrible and the voice acting was even worse

Next thing you know they are shoehorning western stuff into their games to try to appeal to "moneybags" console owners, when really hey could o stuck to doing their own thing and just localizing to the two consoles that already had fans of jp games like they ha been doing all alongnin previous gens.

It controls differently...
Lucianu
Yeah, like a snail that had steroids for breakfest.
It is just clumsy. I can't stand when people bring up, "oh, well...well, they are wearing heavy armour! What, do you expect them to move like a ninja?" NO! I expect the controls to feel tight.
Hmmm... Halo avatar man bashing jrpg fans ...hmm and the pot is calling the kettle black. Oh an since when is Garrett a anamie avatar? Do you know what game he's from? Certainly not a jp game.seems that everyone that thinks japanese gaming is flourishing has anime avatars. biased much?
slantedandencha
Not really, they just aren't making games many gamers in the West are interested in. I personally am excited for a ton of games on the 3DS and Vita. Play Western developed games if you aren't interested in what Japanese developers are producing, problem solved.FlamesOfGreyVery true, a lot of the games released there never really make it out of Asia and oftentimes they're some of the most popular ones.
I don't live in Japan but I doubt they're whining about Western developers not making games they want.FlamesOfGreyNope, they aren't. The games that continue to sell well and sales on games that don't make it out of Asia over there prove this as well :P

i didn't bash anyone, was merely making an observation. i play a fair amount of games, and the only place anyone seems to be concentrating, or even caring at all, about the japanese market is on these boards.
and i probably played thief before you did.
