Someone please answer this. Im getting a new 4GB system because my one is RROD at the moment. will this problems happen in halo reach? shabab12We don't know, Reach isn't out yet.
[QUOTE="SLUSHiNaToR"]if you look at the back of the halo 3 and odst game boxes it says "optimized for hard drive". Its not Microsofts fault at all. It WOULD be Bungies for optimizing the game for a hard drive. But its your fault for not reading the fine print and making sure you have everything you need before buying a game and game console.. no one here to blame but yourself. Skittles_McGeeI'm sorry, optimization = required? Some of my PC games are optimized for multi core CPUs. Does that mean they require them too? I wasn't aware the word "optimize" became synonomous with "require" overnight. English sure changes fast. LOL, how is it required to have a hard drive to play halo.. you can play it perfectly without one.. you just don't get the ability to do some things.. do you guys know what optimization can mean? Optimized: to plan or carry out (an economic activity) with maximum efficiency Don't believe me? heres a link.. http://www.thefreedictionary.com/optimized so no.. its not 2 different things.. you guys just clearly don't know the definition of it.
[QUOTE="Giancar"]upgrade your hd :PCuteCakesHe can't afford it. Or just doesn't want to pay for unreasonably priced proprietary HDDs.

[QUOTE="siLVURcross"][QUOTE="CuteCakes"] He can't afford it.Skittles_McGeeOr just doesn't want to pay for unreasonably priced proprietary HDDs. Or there are none for the model I have. You can't switch out the HDD in the Arcade?
I am utterly dumbfounded as to why people use the Arcade when doing price comparisons in System Wars. The Arcade model is so horribly gimped by comparison to the other 360 models, it's not even funny. I mean, even the cheapest PS3 has all the same functionality as any other PS3 with very rare exceptions.
So why do I say this? Well, I bought a 4GB "Slim" model. Let's be realistic here, with the support for flash drives now and the fact I have plenty of flash drive space, 4GB would ideally be plenty of internal memory for all my game data ever.
But that's what I get for thinking logically.
After putting in Halo 3, I find that Theater mode is completely blocked to me. That's correct. I cannot save any of my own films, anyone elses films, or even watch them in any shape or form. Theater mode on an Arcade, does absolutely nothing. Why? Because I don't have a Microsoft hard drive. Thats right, 4GB of space? Not enough, clearly.
But alright, I could deal with that. Theater is nice, but if I must I can live without it.
But it didn't stop there. Sorry, you also can't download map variants. Yes, map variants. Things that barely even take up a few megabytes. You can save your own though, thank god, so at least Forge isn't completely useless.
You'd think that'd be the end of it. It's illogical, but at least it makes sense in that Theater and map variants require extra files beyond your game save. So, silly as it may be, it has some (bad) reasoning.
Sorry though, it doesn't end there either. Wanna play co-op? Too bad, you need a hard drive. Wanna play Firefight in ODST? Sucks to be you, you need a hard drive to play that too. Yes, that's right you need a hard drive to play co-op too.
So with both Halo 3 and ODST, simply because I have an Arcade, I only get half the game. I may have enough space to use the whole game, but Microsoft doesn't care, you need one of their ridiculously priced hard drives to access features you don't even need that much space to use. And know what's great? To my knowledge, there are no hard drives I can even buy for the Slim. I'm up a creek without a paddle, so to speak.
So I guess what I'm getting at is, why compare the Arcade to the other consoles. The Arcade is gimped, horribly. The others? Not so much. When you buy any model Wii, you get the same Wii everyone else does. When you buy any model PS3, you get the same PS3 everyone else does. All your games work to their full extent. You buy a 360 Arcade? Sorry, you only get half your games now.
If you're gonna price compare, use a real 360, not this horribly gimped nightmare.
Skittles_McGee
Wow, I'm sorry to hear that. But thanks for the heads up, as I'm in need of a new 360--oddly enough for Halo Reach. The Reach bundle is tempting because it includes the game and an extra controller, but I have a hard time bringing myself to spend $400 on a replacement console.
Quick question: If I were to get a new 360 console--mine is a dying one from 2006--can I transfer my xbox live account to the new one?
[QUOTE="Skittles_McGee"][QUOTE="siLVURcross"] Or just doesn't want to pay for unreasonably priced proprietary HDDs. siLVURcrossOr there are none for the model I have. You can transfer accounts.Your last analogy didn't work either, this one isn't much better, seeing as Wifi is an actual hardware feature. Memory space is still memory space. This is like buying the 20gb PS3 and finding out it doesn't have wifi.

yea. You might need to buy a HDD transfer cable if you want to transfer all your saves, as im not sure if the new one includes it.
But for your gamertag you just recover it on the new xbox then via the website you can transfer all your DLC/live licenses to your new 360. It was surprisingly simple and quick to do.
Not quite....

You do have to buy a transfer cable. Transfering the gamertag is easy though. It can potentially take a while, if you've bought a lot of stuff on XBL, since it downloads all that data (purchase data, not literally everything you ever downloaded)The 360 arcade is fine for me, since I don't play online and only want to play 360 exclusives. I picked it up for only $149 with two games and it was a good deal for my particular situation.
EDIT: I see you're talking about the Slim Arcade model that you can't upgrade. That does suck big time.

I'd take it back to the store where it was purchased from and either get all my money back or upgrade it to a 250gb Slim. Explain to the monkey behind the register that it is not compatible with your games and don't take no for an answer. Man, the way MS jobs there customers is brutal.getyeryayasoutI'm sure that won't be possible. Until recently, all I had tried to play was Halo 3 MP and Castlevania HD. Most of this I just found out recently, after having it for some weeks. But, I suppose its worth a try perhaps. Its not likely to work, but you never know if you don't try I guess.
Yeah if your gonna get a 360 get the elite or slim, all versions of the arcade ever made have been a rip-off. I got the elite its kew.....so long as it doesnt die lol.

Microsoft really needs to correct that if that is a issue. I was thinking about getting the slim Arcade version, but I may wait now. I already have 2 360s, 1 which is a elite, and the other is my sons, only the 20gb version. My other son has been wanting a 360 now, so I was planning on getting the new slim version and giving him mine, but I may have to wait and see, especially with things like this happening. Or just pay the extra $$ and get the 250gb Slim.
In the back of the Halo 3 and ODST box, it clearly shows "optimized for hard drive". The arcade models does not have hard drives. Sometimes you have to do some research first. That is all.
gago-gago
What does that have to do with the console itself? It doesn't "say games won't work because harddrive is required"
This is the kind of thing that MS could easily fix by releasing an update that tricks the console into thinking that flash memory is another hard drive. Here's hoping they're working on such a fix to be released very soon.

It has everything to do with the console itself. If you're buying a new system to replace one you already had (which had a hard drive) then you should know that certain games require that you have a hard drive to access certain features and then plan accordingly before buying.
