The 8th generation is almost upon us in a few hours - let's reflect on the 7th.

The Wii U, as you all may know, is upon us. The seventh generation isn't completely done, but it is giving way to a new eight generation of gaming. In reflection, what are your favorite games, memories, lists, etc. from this generation? What were your least favorite and some business practices you wish would go away? Make up some categories and explain why

I loved Uncharted 1 back in 2008 which was the reason I plunked down $550 for a PS3. Still one of the worst financial investments I ever made but in the end I loved the system like I love my Wii and 360 that I got in 2010. The PSP was always alternating with my DS for most used system overall for me and even the 3DS couldn't stop either of them from being enjoyable.

Fav Game of this Gen: Uncharted 1

Fav MP Game: Halo 3

Who didn't love the split screen online madness that Halo 3 brought upon us? It was, in my opinion, the epitome of multiplayer with so many things to customize for the perfect experience and lots of potential in Forge. Reach never hooked me in the same way and I still have to try Halo 4.

Best enigma this gen: Prince of Persia 2008

The best $5 I ever spent. Totally awesome all around.

My first disappointment: Burnout Paradise

My biggest disappointment: Red Dead Rememption

Biggest surprise: Dragon Age Origins

Business practice I wish would go away: Day 1 skin/armor DLCs

Best overall game: Knights in the Nightmare- Fantastic in every department, from its complex gameplay to the incredible story.

Best console game: Xenoblade- Streamlining JRPG's without dumbing them down. The fact that the game has so much value is icing on this delicious cake.

Best handheld game: Radiant Historia- A JRPG that is unique in almost every facet of the game. Amazing story, fantastic soundtrack, gorgeous graphics, excellent cast and fun strategic battle system.

Best Party game: SSBB. My friends and I have put a ridiculous amount of horus just battlign each other. Thee's plenty here for gamers of any type to enjoy, form singleplayer to multipayer to customizing stages. Not only that but it has some of the best production values on Wii.

Best story: Silent Hill Shattered Memories- Play it for yourself and see why.

Best obscure game: Theresia: Dear Emile- A very gruesome, sad and abosrbing horror story in adventure game format. Not flawless by any means, but if you like games that push limits, this is worth checking out.

My GOTG was the **** game Lord of the Rings Conquest... yes ridiculous but that online and coop was fun as hell until EA shut it down. Come on Wii U is barely the start of the new gen.

Another gen dominated by Halo.

Some of my potential favorites won't even release until next year. There's no need to bury a generation that will still be a focus of discussion here the next year or so, when so much is still to come.

My biggest disappointment: L.A. Noire

Biggest surprise: Deadly Premonition

- To me, FC2 was rather promising especially how i was a big fan of previous titles but when i played it i was rather...disappointed with what i played. While the open world aspect was interesting it didn't sit well with me.

- L.A. Noire, my best example of "don't believe the hype" only thing it had for itself really was that it was technologically impressive but that's it.

- Saw this game brand new for 25$, heard it was the original price too so i didn't expect much from it but when i played it i was glued to my screen. I spent easily 20+ hours with it and while pretty much everything in the game was dated it had an amazing story with some surprising twist. I'm eagerly anticipating the PS3 exclusive director's cut next year.

Yes, the first 8th generation machine is nearly here, so yeah, 8th generation is getting ready to start. With 7th generation games and hardware still going strong though, they are still going to be a focus of attention here for some time to come. We'll all be playing (and fighting over)GTA V, or Tomb Raider, or Bioshock, or South Park, or so on and so on for at least another year. So I guess you can say, for now, both gens are SW relevant. Which is why I was saying reflecting on it like it was over was premature.

Is that what you're saying? I must confess, I got a bit confused there.:oops:

Favorite game this gen - hmm... TF2 or New Vegas. Two of my most played game this gen and I don't regret any second. Though I might also pick Graces f.

Favorite MP game this gen - Team Fortress 2. So good.

First Disappointment - Dynasty Warriors 6. Couldn't really get into it like other games in the series so I just found it to be meh.

Biggest Disappointment - hmm...I'll probably go with Lords of Shadow or Resident Evil 6. I went into LoS with high hopes and it just didn't entertain me that much. Was kind of a chore to finish. Though Resident Evil 6 was the bigger disappointment. Just...so bad.

Biggest Surprise - Graces f or Abyss 3D. A friend recommened them to me and while I was sure they would be fun, I didn't expect to play them almost nonstop for weeks. :P Wish I got into the series sooner.

Though I'm sadden at how popular QTEs were this gen. ):
