$99 for console and $15 per month?
After 1 year, that $99 console has cost you:
$280
do you still have to pay that contract if you want to use it another year, to lets say 2014 ?
that's another $15/month for 12 months = $460.

It is only for two years and you get both Kinect and XBLA Gold for that time and of course you keep the 360 afterwards, they dont take it back LOL

It is still grossly overpriced for the tech, its really old at this point, kinect would be seen as a minus by core gamers and not a plus.
How are you getting on with Steel Battalion?

It was a horrible deal because a console without software is pointless. Regardless of how much it cost SONY to put it together.
It's a horrible deal in comparison to the launch Xbox which, not only released a year earlier, but also at a much better price, with better software.
This is also besides the point of the thread, you mentiond the PS3 being a good deal, not I. I simply said that I comparison to this Xbox deal, it wasn't.
On Topic: I've provided you with similar monthly/weekly payment plans for the Xbox, how does Microsofts compare?

The Xbox 360 was a great console when it was released with good line-up of exclusives. But you would be disappointed later in its life (unless you are a Xbox fanboy) because there is lack of software these days. So it wasn't really a good deal - All of your money from the 360 launch was basically thrown in the bin.
The software argument is stupid here, because we are talking about "hardware" and it being a good "deal" or not.
 I guess a GTX 590 should cost the same as a GTS 250 since they play the same "software" huh?
Huh?
I was responding to -Snooze-'s argument.
Your graphics card argument is silly. The GTX 590 can render the graphics much faster so that's the reason it costs a lot more. Your post here doesn't make sense.
Please enlighten us. Aside from the no hard drive it is basically getting Kinect and 2 years of live for free, and some people like the the poor fellow in my signature can't afford a console.[QUOTE="WarTornRuston"]

lol, my post makes pefect sense if you realize what we were arguing about "horrible deals". I was giving an example to show the argument of software isn't valid for determing the value of tech...completely went over your head. You came in on the same software foundation. So I was talking to both of you.
You say "The GTX 590 can render the graphics much faster so that's the reason its costs a lot more."? Ya don't say, why do you think I posted the example? a 590 has better hardware and tech and even though it has the same "software" as a 250 but the hardware costs more $ because of the advanced tech....Thus you are paying for the tech and hardware, not the software that comes seperate. I am disappointed that I had to spell that out for you.
He was arguing PS3 was a "horrible deal" using "software" as his argument. My GPU example was given to show him why his argument was wrong.

Such a rip off, you end up paying more in the long run anyway, and 4GB will NOT last you. Also XBL at $15 a monty is actually the standard, it's only $10 or whatever if your downplaying the $60 a year fee, but per month for $15 is a rip off (well IMO XBL is a rip off period).
I don't think it's a good sign when your system get's to the $100 range, that pretty much means that they are done with it and ready to move on. The 720 may be just around the corner, wouldn't be surprised if they show one off next E3. Or perhaps they are waiting for Sony to make a move?
We will see. But this subscription deal is completely stupid and one of the most anti-consumer product moves ever.
Look forward to seeing you burnEw, this is just awful.
Buying a console with no games, bundled with Kinect and being forced to pay for Xbox Live. I'd rather to set myself on fire than getting that piece of sh!t.

this deal is amazing but it is too late for the 360. a deal like this will be a mazing for next gen i would love to pay 99 dollars then 15 dollars a month for a wiiu ps4 or 720. the 15 is nothing and will not hit ur wallet as if u are paying it full price. but it is toooooo late for the 360 for this to get successful imo, then gen will start this fall and i dont think people will buy 7 year old consoles when the wiiu arrives.
I'm sorry 360 fanboys, but you should be worried. What if this deal ends up being successful (which it probably will because some people are stupid) and MS decides to use this method of marketing with the 720 and have it be subscription based only?
They launch the 720 with a low entry fee and make people agree to sign up to a deal in order to use it, you also pay for XBL as well and if your subscription runs out they take back your Xbox or they lock out your console or something similar?
You guys may laugh and say that will never happen, well guess what? They already do it with XBL, it's the same idea. And people are dumb enough to pay for that, hell some people actually DEFEND it? What are you going to do if MS does this next gen? Have it a standard subscription only?
I wouldn't be surprised if some people buy into that, and even end up defending it. 360 owners should be worried.
The $40 extra you spend is pretty tame in comparison to most products with subsidies attached to them. Great for cost conscious consumers who want to get into gaming. If this takes off, I forsee MS implenting this strategy with nextbox.$99 for console and $15 per month?

I wouldn't be surprised if the majority of north American posters crying foul are currently locked into a two agreement with a wireless provider. $15 a month is just too much. That accumulates to $460 dollars in two years, when you add the initial $100 to it.BadNewsBen$460 would include the intial $100 and $360 of xbl fees.

With a car you are actually paying the real price for it (with a little added interest) until the car is paid off. The Xbox deal ends up costing FAR more than the price of a normal retail xbox, your paying over kill with it. I can't believe you just used a car analogy and tried to pass it off as making it ok.
Not only is a car a totally different scenario and product, but it's just silly for anyone to defend this practice. I don't know why you are throwing childish insults at me, I'm simply saying the truth. This deal is not a good thing for the consumer at all, if this is successful you can bet MS will do this next gen as their only model.
You already do it with XBL, they lock out content unless you pay them the subscription. What's going to stop them taking it a stip further next gen? Nothing that's what. As long as people like you defend it then they will just keep doing it.
I don't know why you brought up Sony? If they did this I would be calling them out on it and you would too. Funny how being a hypocrite works doesn't it?

This is clearly just a test to see if they want to do this next-gen from the beginning. Xbox 720 would sell like crazy if people could pick it up for $99-$199 with a 2-year contract. People are already used to doing it with phones so it isn't a stretch to think this would be highly successful.Zero5000XHighly successful implies very unethical (in capitalism). i think shadow still lives in his mom basement and does not know how things work for people that have bills. when you are a working man u will know why this is a good deal, when i bought my car i did not pay upfront the total amount but paid it in 2 years, same as my house i paid it in 5 year (i still have 1 year left). even tho u end up paying more in the 2 or 5 years by a small margin, but it will not hit u and u will not feel it because are making more money in that period. if i ended up buying my car paying upfront it would have ruined me and if i paid for my house upfront i would have been broke (and i wont even have a house to live in). an initial payment for a next gen console of 100 dolars and then each month for 2 years of 15 dollars will be feel like nothing for some1 that works. it will actually feel like it free 15 dollars is nothing and is way better than paying 400 dollars initially.

We see stuff like this all the time, and yet it still surprises people. It has its detractors the same as any idea, but in many cases the benefits outweigh the costs for the average consumer.
