The opening movie is CGI Concept Art. It even saids so it the title "GT5 Prologue - Concept Movie (Type C)" The racing around the track is a replay of the game in action I believe.

I felt like I was watching a replay from Gran Turismo 4 with new cars... :(

At least the music was enjoyable for once. If they don't refine and change the gameplay formula enough, I'm going to seriously have to pass on this one. The GT series has gone for too long on the same formula. It needs some innovation and change. It needs to become interesting again.

I think this time around, I'm just going to get into PC sims and leave it at that. I want to be penalized for racing like a moron.foxhound_fox

One reason why Gran Turismo 3 is my favorite game of all time was because of its amazing production value/visual fidelity/major ammounts of style. From the looks of things GT5 looks to be keeping on that same pace. Forza Motorsport 2 played good and is very feature rich but it lacked the style and that 'high quality' feel that you get from Gran Turismo. Forza 2 seemed to rely to heavily on its texture modding and damage modeling rather than the 'perfect summer day drive.'

Gran Turismo has always been about the mood and sty-le and have always been able to deliver that like no other driving game so thats why I think Polyphony and Kazunori are geniuses.

I used to be a huge fan of the GT series....even bought the GT3 PS2 bundle. But I can't go back to a bumper-car "sim" racer after playing Forza2. Great graphics for GT5 though.

Also, I can't play racing games without custom soundtracks anymore.
