@goldenelementxl: Just think how much worse it would be on the PS5
And there goes another mention of the ps5 in an Xbox only thread. Man, Sony have many living quarters devoid of rent in a lot of haters heads 😂😂
OP How is the the next gen consoles ugly when the graphics cards in both of them out perform the GTX 1070 ?
How is that a bad thing for resolution in your opinion when it running games at a higher level than one of the strongest graphics cards of all time get back to me on that too PM Me or something.

And there goes another mention of the ps5 in an Xbox only thread. Man, Sony have many living quarters devoid of rent in a lot of haters heads 😂😂
but it's not an "Xbox only thread".. it's a thread about "the cost of 120 fps on new consoles"..
now, I do realize the TC used the worst examples possible with "FPS Boost" titles and then disingenuously tried to make a blanket statement on the subject (it's just what he does) but ultimately, he's correct.. most 120 fps games will see a major drop in resolution on these consoles, typically down from 4K~ to 1080p~ to reach that framereate .. and honestly, I thought this was already common knowledge a long time ago but I guess TC just wanted to wait until he could grab some of the worst examples possible in order to prove his point and the fact that it's an "Xbox only" feature like FPS Boost was just icing on the cake,.. again, no one does intellectual dishonestly quite like @goldenelementxl 👍
but regardless, unless you think the PS5 fairs any better in the 120fps arena, this is an issue for all consoles.. Xbox Series X|S just happens to have more games hitting that framerate than the PS5..

Stop making excuses on why the ps5 is included.
None of these titles see these same enhancements on the ps5, yet here we are discussing the ps5. Quite honestly 120 frames clearly isn’t needed on consoles, but whatever. This is like if someone was talking about the remaster of Spider-Man on the ps5 vs the original copy of Spider-Man on the ps4, and someone brought in the xss/xsx in the conversation.
Movies use bellow 30fps because it is more appealing to the human eye. When hobbit tried to change that there was backlash.
We move and see in a natural 24 or 25 fps I can’t remember off the top of my head.
Sure you can have unnatural smoothness but you can have jaggedness too... why not target the perfect medium?
@jasonofa36: Yeah the truth does hurt i get that, but you put yourself in it, again congrats.
You're just spouting insults and not adding anything. That's not saying the truth. Then again, you're the most asshole person in this board lol.
People can attest to that.
Arsehole is what i was going for, thanks for the compliment, still doesn't the the fact that you are an elitest one, no need to be mad when people call you out for your actions, actions that are very obvious.

@Antwan3K: Don‘t do that. Post 5 in this thread, I said “Well they don't even support the feature for the most part, so theres something else to be said about the PS5...”
I’m not being dishonest, I’m just not kissing Xbox’s ass in the process. Again, I’m not gonna play Xbox PR on the internet for free. Im not gonna act like you do on the internet. I have integrity and can call things the way they are. You’re balls deep into your Xbox. And that’s fine, but I don’t get down like that.

More appealing? The 24fps standard became the norm for economical reasons only, nothing to do with appeal or comfort.

This is the dumbest shit I've ever read in SW. We move and see in 24-25fps? In real life the frames per second anything occurs at is infinite. You do realize if we couldn't see more than 25 frames a second, we wouldn't be able to detect that smoothness from 60fps, right? Or even 120?

Yup, from back when movie film was expensive AF and higher frame rates would have added significant costs to the budget.
Weird watching movies in 48FPS. Feels like you're on the set with these people. The actual set. It looks weirdly real.

Figures, because 3080s are struggling to reach 30fps with a lot of next gen titles at 4K. That's why most developers fake it with built in upscaling or "dynamic resolution" so the usual citizens of the idiocracy don't piss and moan that they're not actually getting 4K for their new TV. It's comical how strong the placebo effect is with next gen gaming that people don't even realize they're not getting 4K, yet will swear up and down they see a difference.
This guy gets it 👏.
Marketing has always had strong influence on system wars. Hell.., in all aspects of sales really. It'll never change. However, it's truly comical in system wars though.

Hollywood does it too. They film at lower resolutions, like 2K, then stretch it to 4096x2160 pixels before slapping it onto a blue ray advertised as 4K.
Technically they're not lying, if you take a 1080P image (1920x1080 pixels) and stretch it to 4096x2160 you're just doubling the pixels both horizontally and vertically, there are 8.8 million pixels per frame for 4K resolution in the file even if every 4 adjacent pixels are the same. That is essentially what "dynamic 4K" and DLSS are doing.
@ermacness: this thread isn't about Xbox.. it's about next gen consoles in general.. if you have any doubt, please ask the TC to clarify..
But the focus was on Xbox because what’s being currently discussed is what’s apparent on the xss/xsx, and not the ps5. I’m not saying that this matter doesn’t include the ps5, but the topic sure didn’t. Was the ps5 brought up in any form or fashion in the initial post of the thread?
Nobody is calling out movies that look horrible in 60 FPS have tried watching LOTR in 60 fps or hobbit in 60 or older movie like judge dredd in 60 fps it looks horrible WHERE IS THE SONIC yellow guy and juub and the pc guys saying anything about that stuff why do movies look so bad in high framerates usually. Tell us why we don't like looking at those in high fr and makes visual look off but for a game it feels smoother.

Hi, TC here.
The digital foundry video is only testing Xbox Series games running at 120fps. That’s true. But my intention was to highlight next gen and it’s attempts to run at 120fps. Bringing up PlayStation isn’t really necessary because a) they dont support the feature and any meaningful way, and b) the PS5 is weaker than the Xbox Series X. So any game running 120fps on both will perform better on Xbox.
The Xbox 120fps performance is the best case scenario for consoles.

Bro you skipped over my question I said how is performance better than NVIDIA GTX 1070 FTW a bad thing for consoles?
THe x-series x i read was like 40% more poewrful than my current best PC part in my computer how is that a bad thing for 120 FPS? Can you tell me how thats bad name 10 cards more poewrful than gtx 1070 can you even do that?
@ProtossRushX: The most powerful part of your PC is a midrange GPU from 2016... I would hope new consoles launched in 2020 could beat that. And name 10 GPUs better than the 1070?

It is not a bad thing at all. I have a 1070 and am very happy with it and I think that the consoles performance is plenty good, PC will always be more powerful on the high end, but the current consoles are more powerful than my current GPU and plenty powerful in general.

Also the 3060 Ti. Yea there are allot of GPU's faster than mine and his for sure. I just have a much lower standard and expectation for consoles performance compared to PC's.
@goldenelementxl: holy crap do you have a death wish bro? You name 10 cards that just came out like 3080's an stuff I mean thats even fair or funny. I mean like old cards that are better than my 1070 its still top 10 card imo

Reading comprehension, get some, in the mean time re-read the bold.
Call yourself a master race when you can't even master basic reading comprehension LMFAO.
@i_p_daily: The Switch isn’t big enough for me to do that 😉
Sounds like you've tried though LOL.
@i_p_daily: Sorry, I don't speak asshole.
Speak it, heck you create it, oh that's right you created the elitest one lol.
@jasonofa36: Like i said its what i was going for, and im noy crying over it. Don't be mad that you turned out to be worse than me lol.
@shadyacshuns: Calls 120FPS nerdy, yet is on a gaming forum, and has an anime avatar lol.
That being said, for console 60FPS should be enough, as most console player's do not yet have 120FPS displays, and although the difference between 60 and 120 is massive, its not as important in console style games (say Assassins Creed) and really comes more into play in FPS's more than anything. Furthermore, obviously you have to make a sacrifice, resolution vs FPS. On the other hand, 30FPS is simply not enough and if you believe that, you are simply lying to yourself.
More games tested. More 720p-1080p revealed. And all without the One X enhancements...
Somehow getting free upgrades to 60fps or 120fps when so many people on this forum claim framerate is the most important factor is a "bad thing"?..
If you prefer resolution, you can just run the games without FPS Boost.. OPTIONS!!..
and again, this is without any additional coding from the developer so this is basically just a bad faith argument using FPS Boost as an example instead of games actually developed for the new hardware..
Ultimately and objectively, this is nothing but good news so I wonder why TC is trying so hard to make this into a negative.. 🤔

On a handheld system like Switch or Vita, it is enough, or for a turn based RPG or farm sim, it is enough for most people.
