It has been years since Crysis' release and not a single game has been able to top it.

well yes and no. im sure they are proud that crysis hasnt been beaten...but at the same time i think they know why it hasnt been beaten. its not a lack of talent or a lack of hardware progress.....sadly business and economics has prevented the industry from putting crysis to the sword on the visuals front.osan0
That's a small part. I think it's mainly because CryEngine 2 is the best engine we've ever had. Economics is a big part of why we don't have CryEngine 2 quality engines anywhere else. I also thing blindness has become part, because you constantly here people saying no game has ever come close to Crysis, while Shattered Horizon and Metro 2003 have both put up a fight.
Pretty much this, Crysis was a play-and-forget shooter.

You make the "rollin' ma eyes" face as if that was sarcasm. :|portability with consoles are whats keeping Crysis on top.
Why do you think no other developer is adopting the engine for their games? Because a fully optimized Cryengine2 game would be a nightmare to port to consoles. This is why Crytek went multiplayer route with CE3.
Are far as hardware limitations go, this is simply not the case. Crysis has been "maxed out" years ago, now and days a lower tier GPU can run it. However the cryengine2 cannot be "maxed out" due to it's flexibility. In the same sense, as long as new hardware keeps rolling out, the more "capable" CE2 is. In the same sense of how Source engine looks great on todays hardware.

Let me know when they reach this Level /KZ2 / UC2 / or GOW3 Dont even have Bump maping on characters Face
Having an opinion is wrong? Thanks for the tip.

Opinions are not shields from having to justify your claims. You not liking Crysis is a opinion, saying it's forgettable is a disputable claim.
Want to see generic FPS design? Try the mass production/disposable FPS series like Call of Duty. Crysis did many things that these corridor shooters didn't, labeling Crysis forgettable or run of the mill is a disservice to what it did.
Crysis didn't get GameSpot's best FPS of 2007 because it is "forgettable"; or graphics over game play as some like to claim.

I see.... so in your opinion, Demons Souls was the BEST game released last year?
and MGSIV has better technical graphics than Crysis Warhead?
you must, since you believe everything a gaming website tells you.

actually it did get it because of its graphics because they were so insanely good that they couldnt not give it to them. STALKER is an infinitely better game than crysis and there are way better shooters out there. the action in crysis was just so dull and felt like i was watching a summer action flick, not some revolutionary game that everyone talks about. it looks good, but it cant hide its shallowness. "omg i can go stealth, this game has so much depth." seriously? the only other cool thing about crysis was its modability which has led to cool things, but the game itself isnt that great.[QUOTE="Gxgear"]

Why would I need to shield myself in the first place? I played it, then I forgot about it.
I don't mind a little linearity in shooters, open world/free realming is overrated and at best only gives you the illusion of freedom. Not that I think COD is a good game or even a decent example.
i still play it to this day of course with the lifeses mod running full with my 5970
and MECHWARRIOR LIVING LEGENDS BHAHA
also as for graphics go blame the consoles on there obsolete hardware.
an average run of the mill pc 500-600 usd blows consoles away in specs, and most of them can run crysis on medium high
Not really. A 120 dollar card is enough to get high settings at 720p out of Crysis.Must be proud of lack of sales due to need of great graphics cards.

You've never played Crysis, have you? It's by far one of the best FPS's this gen. It excels in more than just the graphics department.[QUOTE="killab2oo5"]Pffft...KZ2/UC2/GOW3 says otherwise.HavocV3

You realise that Crysis was unbelievably short... Don't get me wrong, I'm a fan of Crysis, it was the reason I upgraded my PC, but UC2 was definitely a much better game.[QUOTE="RobboElRobbo"]Not really. 30 FPS is not acceptable for a PC FPS. which is around what I get with my 4850. so I lower res and quality till I get over 60 no matter what. my 4850 was much more than $120. granted it was like a year and a half ago...but still.

Really? With Crysis, I don't mind so much and play much closer to the 30FPS mark than 60.
Other games I agree though.

The sound, voice acting, music, and gameplay features of the Nanosuit, as well as the ability to choose how you enter an encounter make the game very fun for me. 30fps is playable for me... thats what I'm getting in Crysis Warhead on MAX settings, and Metro 2033.... I have no issues with it.

To be honest, you're really just agreeing with their opinion, as it's in line with yours. They really can't be right on the matter, as everybody has different ideals.

I find 30 FPS to be just fine, but that's just me. I usually go with AA turned off so I don't dip beneath 30 though. There's a reason that so many critics liked it, and it's not just because of the graphics. For me when I played Crysis, it was like "why would I want to enter a fight differently?". Why would I was to find a car and drive 5 minutes just so I can plow it into an enemy camp, or why would I want to spend even more time with the stealthy approach and sneak around? I'm not particularly patient or creative, so I either went with the cloak/kill/hide or just sniping from afar. If I remember correctly also wasn't fond of the traveling time between points.

Not all wanted to play it like you do. Some liked going in guns blazing. Others liked sneaking in. Still others liked everything in between. The game made room for those unlike other games.

There's your problem. :P I think Crysis is overrated, but it's still one of the best games I've played this gen, to be honest. Definitely better then most other FPS, ESPECIALLY console FPS. Stalker owns it though. :D
