Once again we learn that "no review = be skeptical".
Looks like The Division is getting a poor reception among gamers, even though an official review hasn't even come out yet after game release.
57% approval rating on Steam.
It had a slightly annoying launch so people freaked out on Steam. Steam user reviews are generally garbage.
Rather take user reviews over GS etc, they are all paid for more or less.

Why? They're simply user reviews and if you read them they mostly have the same complaints. Poor AI, repetitive mission structure, lack of character customization, boring gameplay.

Personally I grew very concerned a little before release when I saw that high level endgame gameplay video. What I saw was effectively that the gameplay didn't evolve or gain in depth to any notable degree from what I've played during the betas; everything was essentially the same, all I saw were bigger numbers. It was then that I realised Division would just be another bland and shallow game unworthy of my time.
User reviews, especially early ones, are joke. Game has couple bugs or server issues at launch: "Worst game ever!" I have enjoyed Division so far. Yeah, "the netcode" needs serious work, because there are situations when I just stop shooting at an enemy because I know he should be dead and then second later he drops down dead. But other than that I like it. The story seems interesting, which is my main reasons I actually got the game.
Ironically everyone i know who's played it (PC and PS4 versions) said they loved it.
The Division is what Destiny should have been.
I think this has to do with the servers being down for 30 minutes after launch. People overreacted a little bit. The game has been running great for me so far, playing on PC.
That said, haven't played nearly enough to know if I'd recommend it.

From what I know PS4/PSN servers were the only ones that were down launch night.

The top user reviews aren't even commenting on that. The main complaints are clearly targeted at the content of the game.
People who pre-ordered or bought the game on launch and are complaining about issues must not pay much attention to other AAA game launches. It's pretty much expected that big, complex games are going to have issues on launch, especially on PC, and even more so when it's an online game.
I haven't played the game so I can't really judge it, but from what I've seen it doesn't sound interesting to me. It also doesn't help that other recent Ubisoft games bore me to tears.
I stopped caring about the game after the second time the showed it where everything was down graded and they showed how the game actually plays like.
Modern gaming especially in the shooter department are all the same boring formula, seriously what did you expect. They just copy what was successful before, which was copied from something else. No one takes risks any more, budgets are to huge, developers/publishers play it safe, this game will still probably sell a ton.
Not gonna make a decision based on these "reviews".
Rather wait for some solid and legit reviews.
It's just beyond me that ppl hate Ubisoft this much yet they buy their games Day1? , Seriously sth is wrong with these ppl. i tend to like Ubisoft games but i'm waiting for reviews to make the final call.
So ended up buying it, played it with friends for few hours, its ok, but no way I'd play it single player.
It seems to run better than the beta did for all that's worth too
A majority of those user reviews are hilariously stupid. "Oooh, look at me, I hate Ubisoft and Uplay, gimme a thumbs up because everyone should hate Ubisoft and Uplay *brofist*"

Eh, the game has been out a day. I'm not saying these guys are lying about not liking the game, but I can't say these user reviews have a lot of value to potential buyers.
Also, many are just making comments about how Uplay sucks (which probably falls in line with the launch issues).
I had fun in the beta, I'd get if I had more money to waste, and there weren't better games that take priority. I'd rather get Far Cry Primal or save up for Quantum Break, Uncharted 4, Doom 4. all that good stuff. Or maybe play some of my backlist until then.
Though, I think it was a mistake when this got promoted as a Destiny killer. Destiny is fun as ****. That's a lot to live up to.
@Juub1990:
I played the beta and realised this in an hour.
Ubisoft don't know how to make a game that isn't exactly the same, just with a different setting. For ex: New York, Chicago, London.
I'll hold off to see the official reviews come in, as well as more gamer impressions.
I won't buy it anytime soon, but I'm curious if I should be at all interested in the future. I had a decent time with Destiny: The Taken King after all. I'm sure I could get some enjoyment out of this.
I'm expecting a 6 or 7 for gamespot review. I'll enjoy the game regardless but will admit it seems to be a bit of a letdown. Only saving grace is co-op with friends.

I rather trust the average gamer in total than a paid reviewer
But in all seriousness, anyone with a somewhat good taste for good games would have known that this game was going to be trash.
i had issues logging on at midnight of day one.. took me 5 minutes to get on, since then worked flawlessly
I really like the game play and think this game is a hit! I would give it (so far) about an 8 out of 10 (have not visited DZ yest, but did in beta and liked it)
Played last night with a couple of friends and we had a laugh. Sure I could complain about some niggles like getting kicked off the servers once in 3 hours on launch day or that I saw a couple of graphics bugs and blow them way out of proportion but the game honestly doesn't deserve that kind of scorn for a couple of minor issues.
The A.I. is a bit thick but that's the case for most shooters and the Elites/Bosses can be bullet sponges, especially on hard but that's to be expected, it's an MMO, Yes, there will be grinding but I'm not sure when that'll kick in it's certainly not an issue at lower levels (where I am atm). The only thing I would say that really annoyed me is the complete lack of any real character customisation, the options are extremely limited and disappointing.
It's not perfect and I'd expect a 7 or maybe even an 8/10 from Gamespot(depending how much Ubisoft paid them :p). It's certainly not a 10/10 game.
Over all I'd say if you like MMO's and TPS games, especially with friends, then you'd enjoy The Division. If not then steer well clear because you'd be wasting money.
