The lack of excitement for the Wii U is dissapointing.

Nintendo is trying to innovate by giving us a table & console whose capabilities are unimaginable! And yet you all fail to make posts speculating, wondering, and expressing your excitement over the console and the yet to be revealed games a month away... And you call yourselves gamers.

Anyone with any sense knows the tablet is only going to be used in a worthwhile way for a handful of games. It'll mostly be relegated to things like minimaps and calling plays in sports games.

There is hardly any information or games announced for it. I see the WiiU ending up a lot like the wii in terms of innovation. Its great to think about the possiblities of a tablet controller (which I particularly do not like), but when games try to capitilize on those possiblities, it ends up holding the system back. I need to see much more at E3 before getting excited. There is also the possibility of one controller per console. These mysterious features about the console is getting in the way of excitement.

Not the kind of innovation I'm looking for.

There's hardly any information on it. How do you expect people to form an opinion on something they don't have knowledge of? Oh wait this is SW nvm.

Whats to get excited about? A gimmick that no one will care about after two years and Nintendo will drop support for the instant sales start to decline.

There has been a few threads with polls about E3 and Nintendo always wins because of the new console. But honestly I don't see how a controller with a screen is innovation since the DS already has 2 screens and it's been more of a hassle than anything else. To this date no game has taken advantage of that second screen other than showing useless stats on it.

E3 first hype second

there was plenty of hype for it when Zelda HD was shown

now nintendo said that all the final things will be shown at this years E3

then the hype should begin

but.....

no price gets announced and release date at E3

so.....

the waiting will still continue

For the mot part the controller is just going to be that same old dual analog controller we've had for 15 years except it will have a mini-map. that's it.

Also, I would consider the wiimote/nunchuck to have VASTLY more potential and possibilities than the wiiu tablet, but that didn't stop every publisher from just ignoring the wiimote. The wiiu won't be any different.

So one game out of how many? Nice try, but that was years ago, and clearly wasn't successful enough that anyone bothered to copy or improve on it.

It absolutely matters if the claim is being made that the game did something innovative with multiple screens, yet the game left no clear mark on the industry, and garnered no real attention for this supposed innovation.

Alright first of all I never said it was innovative, I was responding to his comment on how not a single game has "taken advantage of that second screen other than showing useless stats on it." The game did a fantastic job for the combat system that cannot be replicated on a single screen whether you like it or not. Whether it sold a million copies is also irrelevant. You also need to relax, why get so aggressive to me pointing out a game :?

Not being aggresive. If you think the game did something innovative, that's your opinion. Just like the guy who you were responding to stated his opinion that no DS game was innovative. My response was, if the game was innovative and brought something new to the table, why did no other companies (including square-enix, the publishers of said game) try to take what was sucessful about the game and improve upon it? If it was truly innovative in any way that mattered, why didn't we see a dozen other companies try to mimick that innovation, in the same fashion that Sony and Microsoft have copied Nintendo with Kinect and Move?

You're comparing peripherals to game mechanics at the end of the post. Either way Sony did end up adding touch to the Vita whether or not its because of the DS or touch games on mobile platforms I don't know. And again I'm not saying its innovative but that it DOES take advantage of both screens in a meaningful way. Next time I'll make sure I quote the specific phrase I'm responding if it helps avoid confusions like this.

How is looking at another screen during gameplay and having a huge terible controller innovation ?

It is just a gimmick to help them sell, only this time is a horrible one and the graphics seem to be basic for next gen, if next gen at all

I only have 3 Wii games, so it is extremely hard to get exited for anything from Nintendo, especially since i found the last two Zeldas extremely boring and more of the same

Show me the games. I don't make purchases unless I see a game I want. Until that happens, the WiiU, like the 3DS, will be relegated to Idon'tgiveaf@*% status. I like what the 3DS and WiiU have shown me, but until I see a truly compelling game come out that I absolutely must own, I'll be content to ignore both systems. This is what I follow with any system.

I consider myself a pretty blatant supporter of Nintendo and it's products, but I need a compelling reason to support it before I will invest.

I'm beyond hyped for the thing after I had my hands-on with it last year, and am DYING to play it again this year at E3. Believe me, I'm stoked, but with nothing to go on, but tidbits and rumors, it's all going to come down once the curtain is pulled back on E3 this year.

Well I'm very excited for the possibilities.

From a business perspective I think the combination of tablet + wiimotes is perfect, especially since there are 100ds of millions of Wiimotes already in peoples homes. Whether 3rd parties will flock to the system or not we don't know, but at least the excuse can't be controller limitations anymore, it can do anything.

For fanboys to be swayed Wii U needs to have on par graphics as PS4/X3, at least on par online functionality, a ton of useless media stuff like the other consoles, almost every 3rd party multiplat.

It's just silly, the system will be worth getting for the exclusives alone.

The only thing that we have solid info on is that it has a tablet controller.

Nothing else really.

So it is kind of hard to get excited over something we don't know anything about.

Nintendo needs to leek a few more videos on the system for buzz and hype to generate, which we all know they wont do. As soon as E3 hits we will all be talking about it, then we'll have to wait months to actually get any more info, that will be when we can all buy the system or a few days before hand when Gamespot and other web places get them.

To be fair, there is so little information on it, that there actually is nothing to get excited about as of now. The tablet controller is too big, and as of now the way it is used seems to be a gimmick (plus something similar has been done already in terms of the PSP+PSV remote play with PS3). Based on rumors (which probably dont mean much) the system seems to be under powered and just slightly more powerful than the X360/PS3. In terms of games, nothing has been announced yet. So uh yeah, tbh nothing to get excited about yet, but I am sure that will change after E3. I just hope that the WiiU aint just X360/PS3 1.5 (like the Wii was a GC 1.5, or more like 1.1 since the OC was minimal, since the Wii was essentially an overclocked GC on a shrunk die size and smaller package with waggle).

You're trying to force people to be more excited? Sorry that's the job of Nintendo, and apart from their die hard fans there are few who will be excited by the possibilities of a new Nintendo console. People know what they are getting by now. The same franchises with a fresh gimmick.

You appeal to the fickle, you create a craze, it doesn't last, and the gamers Nintendo have picked up with the wii will move on to something else very quickly.

The controller is clearly aimed at cashing in on the ipas fad so forgive me for not being excited for more casual crap. If it was more powerful than PS3 and had a normal controller with games announced that aren't multiplats from last year, then I'd be hyped.
