is not just last of us, ive seen mcshea underscore various overhyped releases that get 10s everywhere just to either troll, get more traffic or get people mad. Thats the worst thing a reviewer could do, if it was just 1 game i could understand but seems like he really hates anything popular and just underscores it to go the other way.
"Anyone watch the Gamespot spoilercast show?Â
The guy who reviewed the game is on there, and I honest to God feel embarrassed for Gamespot that they let this guy review the game.
In the first 10 minutes, the 2 other people are disagreeing with every single point he makes.
The guy is completely **** clueless. He thinks Joel in the beginning of the game might be selling drugs because he comes home late.
Jesus Christ."
is like he doesnt even get the games, just like when he gave skyward sword a 7.5 because his tiny brain couldn't figure how to play correctly with the wii mote.

What's with you man? did you even watch the spoiler cast you act like our complaints on his cluelessness are without merit.
Your complaints are without merit. If he had given the game a 6 or 7, then I'd understand... but so much butt-hurt over a great score like 8? It's no wonder that people don't take gamers seriously...lol.
Did you even play the game yet? If you would have you would understand this backlash from the community over that spoiler cast. This goes beyond a menial number and is something worth discussing.
Remember when a game getting an 8 was considered a good thing before System Wars came along?nervmeisterIt wasn't just system wars. It was a combination of younger kids starting to use the Internet for reviews and video game "reviewers" being STUPIDLY easy to please. It's why movie critics are called CRITICS and game reviewers overlook faults for the overall experience.

all i can say is that if this game was exclusive on X360 it would of easily gotten a perfect score here on GS, and guess what? TOM would not be doing the review either.

I usually go by the Aggregate User Score when looking at metacritic (not reviews just the score).[QUOTE="tagyhag"][QUOTE="nervmeister"]Remember when a game getting an 8 was considered a good thing before System Wars came along?AtariKidXIt wasn't just system wars. like he is, an idiot going against the general opinion for the sake of angering other people and/or get attention.
So it seems gamers here only have an issue with the spoiler cast and not the actual review itself?
Jag85
When watching the review itself, I found it puzzling why he gave a great game such a good score, but obviously it's his opinion so it's not up to me to decide.Â
But the spoilercast made it clear why, he had no grasp on the game whatsoever.
Just from the opening scene, Tom said he disliked joel because he thought he was "up to no good"....

And for the record, 8 out of 10 is not just a good score, but a great score. If any movie got that kind of score, it would be regarded as a great movie. Why should games be any different?
Lol, nobody trusts gamespot reviews after all the scandals. Truth is the Last of Us is the best game of this gen.Suppaman100

To you maybe but not to the world. There are way better games out there. It's not even the highest rated game of this gen and GTA V will destroy it anyway.

The Last of Us has an unusually high user review score. It seems that we, the gamers, really do think TLOU is better than GTA.

I think it's situational. If it's an unknown game by an unknown developer it should have a harder time than if it's a known game or a known dev.

Like I said, he gives his full opinion on the game in the spoiler cast.
I'm not saying his opinion is wrong, I'm saying that he really misjudged the game based on what he got out of it.
If you saw the spoilercast, you'd know what I mean. The best I can say to explain it is like Tom went into The Last of Us already focusing on the negative rather than trying to enjoy the experience.

I don't intend to watch the spoiler cast any time soon (wouldn't want spoilers for a game I've yet to play), but judging from the video review, I don't see what the big deal is. If his main issue seems to be with the problematic AI, then there's no reason why it should be given a free pass for something non-AAA games would not be so easily forgiven for.And for the record, 8 out of 10 is not just a good score, but a great score. Because you keep failing to justify why 8 out of 10 is not a great score? It was never about the score, its the reasoning behind it. Which is inadequate, and furthermore the justification he gives in the *spolier* cast (don't watch it if you haven't played the game, obviously) Is lol worthy.
pro-tip, if you want to debate in the future it's usually helpful to have atleast some knowledge of the topic at hand.
