Not sure if I agree SMG is the more influential, innovative or best of its time title but its certaily fantastic overall.

I think people just say OOT is the best game ever to try and fit in and be cool, since most Zelda fans agree OOT is one of the worst games in the series.
It got amazing reviews because people were blown away by it's graphics, if they actually gave it a solid review, it would be a fair 8, the story is awful, gameplay is mediocre, framerate is terrible, it's full of bugs & glitches, controls were terrible, camera was terrible, it's LTTP in 3D when it comes down to it all, sound was awful (N64 limits might dismiss this), Hyrule was massive but empty, some of the temples were very poorly designed (Water Temeple, we all know this) can't skip dialogue & cut scenes, inventory was a massive pain.
Best game of all time for sure.

Worst in the series is Majora's Mask. Boring and tedious.
[QUOTE="DarkLink77"][QUOTE="nintendoboy16"]I can't agree with that. Though a great game, SMG2 feels like an expansion pack most of the time and doesn't have the same punch as the original. I think calling it Super Mario Galaxy: The Lost Levels would have made more sense. It doesn't have the punch because it's a sequel. That said, it is a better game in every way in terms of actual design.I did have one issue with SMG 2, personally: I thought some of the levels ended kind of abruptly. I also feel that the first game had better music.PannicAtack
First game had probably the more extravagent OST but I am of the opinion that the opinion of the OSTs is more about game like music vs adventure music. I figure the first SMG game is more about an adventure through space and it plays like that what with unlocking new parts of the observatory to launch you to new parts of space and slowly collecting all the Lumas and the power stars and such. Bringing life and light back to the darkness of the Panet Observatory. The music in the first game really does suit that grand adventure feeling. The second title is much more about progressing and moving across the world map and being challenged by old school traditional design and the music is really there to tell you its more of a game about the challenge and thrill of the hunt before you. Just me, I like the SMG2 OST = to the SMG1 OST but for different reasons. Stuff like Yoshi Star Galaxy has no place in SMG1 and stuff like the Observatory theme has no place in SMG2.
Well, this is a new claim. Define "most" - I've mainly seen that claim come from massive Majora's Mask fans and die-hard 2D fans. But "most" Zelda fans regard it as one of the worst?since most Zelda fans agree OOT is one of the worst games in the series.

From my understanding, the ones that are generally regarded the lowest are the CD-i games, the DS games, and Zelda II. Skyward Sword is also fairly divisive. But Ocarina of Time? Yeah right.

That is a good point. There were still some tracks that I loved in the second game, like Puzzle Plank Galaxy, Sweet Mystery Galaxy, and Fluffy Bluff Galaxy.[QUOTE="OB-47"][QUOTE="charizard1605"] Personally, I think neither Super Mario Galaxy nor Ocarina of Time are the greatest games of all time, so hey :Pcharizard1605
WHAT!
Okay it has to be a Ninty game though? Majora's mask maybe? That was my favourite Zelda
It is a Ninty game, yes. It's A Link to the Past, my favorite Zelda game, and according to me, the greatest game ever created. Every time I play a new game, I do so with the subconscious expectation of trying to relive the feeling I had when I played ALttP for the first time as an 8 year old.New Zelda games need to challenge Link to the Past in Dungeon Design. These games are getting more and more terrible at presenting a challenging, dense adventure filled dungeon. The density and challenge in ALttP's dungeons are the selling point of the game for me. Granted they succeed in other areas LttP doesn't but man I want an old school Zelda challenge in 3D where the whole puzzle of the dungeon is the fun of it.

In 2 I loved Fluffy Bluffy Galaxy, The remix of Bowsers Lava Lair, Melty Monster, Slip Sand Galaxy, Cosmic Cove, Sweet Mystery, Sky Station Galaxy etc were all stand outs.

Great game but I personally dislike that I have to play a song everytime I wanna change the direction of the wind. It gets a bit annoying imo. Also, the sail should have been on another but so that I didn't need to phsically equip a sail to move. But the game is a ton of fun and the art direction and world building is fantastic.

False.
The only constant in this universe is that A Link to the Past is the greatest game of all time. The constancy of A Link to the Past's greatness actually puts a wrench in the Theory of Relativity, breaks it down, and has set science back by several hundred years. This is fact. For its time it was a visionary game... It was made in 1998 yet no mechanic feels dated. It set a true precedent for action-adventure games.I think people just say OOT is the best game ever to try and fit in and be cool, since most Zelda fans agree OOT is one of the worst games in the series.

It is. It is so good that the SNES breaks down if you remove ALttP from its library; it is so good that any SNES that has not had ALttP inserted in it at least once over its lifetime simply locks up and stops working. It is so good that the SNES was in fact created for it and everything else on it is just incidental. It is so good, that all of the other games in the SNES's library put together times the infinity that the singularity induced by the breakdown of Relativity caused by ALttP's greatness... still can't match it. I haven't played smg yet but I'm assuming they're garbage too. Not as bad as OoT of course. Can't imagine anything worse than that. Except for Ass Creed Brohood of course. But even Mass Effect 1 is better
