The only think innovative about it was the controls. Past that the structure was the same ol' zelda. Hell Skyward Sword brings more new concepts to the table than that game.PH was pretty much the most innovative zelda tittle made... this whole thread is just a proof of how dumb zelda fans are for just asking nintendo to give them more of the same.

The only reason I liked Skyward sword was because it featured my favorite incarnation of Link. The gamrplay was really not that good, and it really did not live up to wind waker. Bring back wind waker link in a proper handheld zelda imo.

Epic fail I meant ph not ss

it was not a dream...didnt you payed attention? link still had the hourglass and saw linebeck...
Phantom Hourglass had the best characters and character growth of the series. Linebeck was outstanding

Seriously, standars and different reviewers For example: I gave TP a lower score than PH or ST despite being a better overall experienceGiancarstandards or no, I find it hard to believe that PH with all of it's flaws is deserving of a glowing 9.0 while SS gets gyped with a 7.5 :\
I know it was different reviewers but still, it's perplexing

Atleast with skyward sword I found myself close to dying quite a few times
Oh dear...I will say PH and ST are at least way better than Wind Waker. Bite me, fanboys. :)

Nope, I'm serious. The only things I like about WW are the opening scene and the closing credits music. Everything else about it sucked, and I've gone on so many detailed rants over the years too. PH and ST dungeons weren't as boring and empty, and didn't waste my time with annoying sailing mechanics. For handheld games, I liked them both.

The way you explain WW, it sounds like you sailed around and ended up with a sword in ganon's head. I still cannot see how it "sucked." Everything about the handheld versions felt like a downgrade. Every Island looks the same in PH. There is no way the dungeons are better, they are inferior in design and BOTH games had you go through the same dungeon multiple times. The boat/train is awful to me on the ds. You cannot even interact with the water/track, you are stuck inside your vehicle and you just draw a line on the touch screen and sit back, boring.Spirit tracks felt like a chore to finish. Both were not bad games in any way though. Please explain what made WW suck.[QUOTE="Renegade_Fury"][QUOTE="YoshiYogurt"] Sarcastic? Both were not bad games in any way though. Please explain what made WW suck.I don't feel like going into length, but basically my problems were there were little dungeons, the dungeons themselves were barren, the whole world was pretty barren, it's annoying setting up the wind, the wand blows compared to the ocarina, the difficulty was several notches below OoT and MM, and the fetch quest, do I need to explain what's wrong with that? The game sucks beyond belief next to OoT and MM.
PH and ST, I felt like the dungeons had more things to do in them, the traveling method was significantly better for being streamlined, the boss battles were more interesting, the characters were better (linebeck), and overall, they're just more fun to play through. Difficulty wise, yes they're pretty easy as far as Zelda goes, but they are pretty much on par with Skyward Sword. A lot of the concepts from those games are actually seen in SS like the upgrades, the more pronounced ways of creating shortcuts, returning to an area, being chased by guardians, the whip, the tightrope walking, etc. I think the biggest gripe people have with these games are the main temples, but personally, I had no problem with them.
I agree that WW wasn't as good as OoT or MM, but it was still an enjoyable game imo. i like basically everything in the game aside from the very lengthy sailing sequences. I actually ragequit the game when i had to sail around getting Triforce fragments or something like that, to be honest.

If it were just the sailing it wouldn't be that bad, is the annoying tasks to get the charts that get on my nerves.

I can see your points about the bad parts of WW. The wind is annoying and the baton is not very fun. The fetch quest crap was annoying(insane rupees for trifroce piece maps really?). I still don't think the dungeons and land were barren at all. Lots of secret areas in the game to explore. I think the difficulty was harder and easier at different points to ocarina of time. The Ds games did have good concepts and linebeck was awesome in PH. I still think the line drawing is silly. Anyway, I see what you like about the Ds games now and what you don't like in WW.[QUOTE="Renegade_Fury"][QUOTE="YoshiYogurt"] The way you explain WW, it sounds like you sailed around and ended up with a sword in ganon's head. You actually reminded me of another issue I had with WW: the amount of rupees you need to collect. I didn't have this problem with SS, so maybe I was doing something wrong in WW, but I distinctly remember going in and out of a door and cutting the same plants to load up on rupees. I get that they wanted to give them more of a treasure vibe since the game is kind of about swashbuckling pirates, but **** was that annoying stuff.
I know there were a bunch of secrets like that invincibility thing, but I had little motivation to get them since I thought they were more trouble than it was worth to attain them. WW is a good game, by itself, but I don't think it's a good Zelda game. Even now it still bugs me that it got GOTY here over KOTOR.
I really liked it... But I played it in Japanese so I thought the puzzles were hard lol cause I don't read that well.. But if you tapped the kanji it turns it into hirigana which is great for learning.
I'm baffled that people actually like PH and ST. They don't even have dungeons, those things aren't dungeons. They are appropriately colored rat mazes that you use an item to hit a switch with to proceed to the end. Minish cap had fun temple designs artistically, Oracle of seasons had more life in it than the ds games. I couldn't believe how boring they made the dungeons in the games.
Comparing them to TP and SS is preposterous. I like SS better than TP but TP smashes SS in presentation.
I'd say that SS has a much cleaner look to it and the music is less grating, but then again thats more of a personal preference.I'm baffled that people actually like PH and ST. Yeah but every boss in TP looks better than SS bosses with an obvious exception of course. Every temple in TP looked cooler than SS and TP had more variety in environments. If it wasn't for how great in between dungeons section were in SS I'd say TP was better but in TP pretty much only the dungeons were fun and the rest was boring but I enjoyed everything in SS.
