madden for crying out loud, , could say football in general theres just little room for improvment excluding the wii , without wii , , theyd be just roster updates for the same price every year its getting rediculous,

another series -

sonic this game went from awsome to dull within the last gen , i dont know how many sonic games their are since sega went down but you know what its more then any other series sega tried , lol

and halo, since the 360 came its been nothing but a halo fest , , first with halo 3 , then halo on xbox originals, halo wars then halo odst coming

hasnt microsoft got anything besides halo this year , probably not , not counting n64 ports of banjo

Good points. Madden needs to go first person style. It's reallt getting old. Halo is turning in to a milking cow just as much as COD.

I'll give you CoD and Madden. Halo is just a huge fanboyish response. Halo has had what, five games in the past nine years? Mario has had more games than that.

The people who do not play sports and are not madden fans....say the above. If you play football...or any sports game you know that each year the games are different, yea they may be in small ways but its not the SAME exact game each year. And if it is as you say then they are doing a GREAT job 2 keep selling the "SAME" remade game

Space Invaders. Since 1979, it has had sequels, remakes, ports and compilations. It's probably been on more than 6 different consoles as well as being sold as standalone one-game systems. It's also been 'copied' from hell and back - but here's the thing, every one of them is pretty much the same game everytime. Oh, and it's still going strong now with current gen systems. If it's not the most milked franchise, it's probably the most rehashed franchise.

As of late it's easily Guitar Hero. Amongs the top are The Sims, Dynasty Warriors (or whatever they are called), Pokémon and various party/puzzle games. There are probably penty of other titles I could think of but those are the main ones.

And for those so say Mario: Mario is Nintendo's MASCOT he "stars" in different plenty of spin-offs, but that does not make them a Mario (Mario) game in the sense that Super Mario Bros 3, World, 64 and Galaxy is. Which there are few and each and everyone of them masterpieces in their own right.

Tony Hawk and EA sports was also added after I read trough the thread.

Do they have to include him in over 200 games?

madden? you do realize its a sports game right?! it's a new season every year for christ sakes, no **** they will make a new game and try to make it better. that's not milking it. milking it is when you realize a bunch of iterations of the same game with no improvements whatsoever. and anyone who actually plays madden knows that ever since madden first came out 20 years ago, it has improved drastically

Guitar Hero. My God it's disgusting how much they've raped that series. COD, Madden, and there's been like 50 Ratchet and Clank games and each one is exactly the same.

EVOLV3

I wouldn't say that Final Fantasy has been heavily milked. Sure there have been countless remakes, side-games, compliations, and ports. But at least there aren't like 5 Final Fantasy games a year like Guitar Hero....

There is NO franchise more milked in the gaming industry than Star Wars. Every system (and arcades) since the dawn of video gaming has had an iteration or 10 of this franchise. All other franchises pale in comparison to this giant milk machine.

thegamemonkey

Truer words have never been said.

There has been a total of 124 Star Wars video games. That's disgusting.

Anyone that says halo has been milked has to be joking. How is 5 games over the course of 8 years milking? Megaman on the other hand is much worse. I think last gen alone there were over 60 magaman games

[edit]PC Games

Two PC games were licensed by Capcom but made by Hi-Tech for the PC. These games featured original bosses and levels, with inferior gameplay and graphics compared to the console games.[citation needed] Both games are considered non-canon by Capcom and the general community. Note that the second game is titled Mega Man III due to the popularity of Mega Man III on the NES; it is not related to the console version. There was also no "Megaman II" for PC; Hi-Tech has never addressed this issue. Rockman Strategy is a rare Chinese PC game produced by a Chinese company endorsed by Capcom.

  • Mega Man (US only) – IBM/PC, 1990
  • Mega Man III (US only) – IBM/PC, 1991
  • Rock Man Strategy (China only) – PC, AcerTWP, 2001

Probably Guitar Hero

The FF series have variety (although mostly composed of JRPG elements, they do have SRPG and Fighting, which is Dissidia, varieties) and each battle system is different per game. And not to mention themes from the FF series, FFVII-FFXIII have varying themes.

FFVII - Metropolitan Slums

FFVIII - Futuristic School

FFIX - Fantasy Medieval

FFX - Tropical

FFXI - idk since i haven't played it :p

FFXII - Middle-Eastern style?

FFXIII - Star Wars futuristic

Also Mario series have variety, there's Mario golf, Mario RPG, sidescrolling Mario, Mario tennis, etc.

[QUOTE="AdobeArtist"]

[QUOTE="psychobrew"]Good points. Madden needs to go first person style. It's reallt getting old. Halo is turning in to a milking cow just as much as COD.psychobrew

Oh come the *bleep* on already. Halo and COD don't even come close to Madden, Tony Hawk (can't believe how many people missed that one), Dynasty Warriors, Final Fantasy, Pokemon, Mario or Sonic. Hell, not even if you combined the two, would they exceed any one of them in reiterations.

No they don't, but that's where they are headed.

What say we leave the speculation out of this. The future hasn't happened yet, so we can only go by the release count for games that have actually occured, not what is on a drawing board, real or imagined.

madden, guitarhero, tony hawk, COD, pretty much anything activision touches gets milked. Silenthps
QFT! Activision has a way of running things into the ground.... Lets not forget MGS (this is my favorite franchise ever, but if they continue to make games even at Solid Snake's end.... That's called milking. ), Mario, Sonic (probably the worst case of milking I have ever seen. That blue bass turd should have died with the genesis) Twisted Metal, Devil May Cry, GTA, Tombraider (OMG!!!!!), and that stupid Pokemon!

Guitar Hero and Rockband. Releasing songs as DLC, and mixing songs from past games with a different tag is sad.

i think any franchise that doesn't change its games in anything more than graphics is milking. halo does not milk, as much as i hate the game. halo 2 changed it. recon will change it, and the rts changed it. final fantasy had tooo many games just alike with different stories. i think only 3 games changed anything in the main series, but it is completely milked because of all the spin offs. the sims, need i say more. call of duty sadly is getting worse. cod4 was refreshing, it changed alot, but codwaw sucked balls. mario for the most part is milked, galaxy and 64 excluded. starwars. wow. guild wars. command and conquer. gh. rock band. need for speed. battlefield, while yes it changes things abit, but 2142 and heroes killed it for me. hitman kinda. halflife, when you consider opposing force, blue shift, ep 1, ep 2, and the new ep 3. neverwinter nights. king of fighters. i know people are going to hate me for this but, you can kiss my shiny metal @$$

Guitar Hero and Call of Duty are getting pretty milked. CoD7 has already been listed on GS. http://www.gamespot.com/search.html?qs=Call+of+duty+7&om_act=convert&om_clk=search

Halo? FF? Some ppl don't know what true milkage is, not even GH with all those spinoffs is as bad as Mario, Sonic, Megaman or the Sims.
