[QUOTE="zipozal"][QUOTE="Thinker_145"][QUOTE="zipozal"][QUOTE="shazanarkand"][QUOTE="ToScA-"][QUOTE="_Pedro_"][QUOTE="ToScA-"][QUOTE="BreakingPoint8"][QUOTE="ToScA-"]What and when is ATi's counter? Thinker_145
Isn't it already out? It's the 3870x2, dual GPU.
I have no idea that's why I'm asking :D
How's ATi's counter performance/price-wise compared to what NVidia is offering?
Currently the 3870x2 is the best single card solution available, but nVidia will most likely strike back rather quickly with the 9800GX2.
Thanks for the info.
It's scary really..as soon as I finished building my PC some two-three years ago I lost track ENTIRELY what was going on in the PC market in terms of hardware. Catching up slowly now since I'm going to build a new one this summer. Bet I'll lose track again as soon as I finish the job :)
Good to hear ATi have the top of the line GPU out right now though; will keep my eye on that one.
Its not. ATi just released a card that is 10% faster than an 8800 ultra. Which the ultra has been out for 1 year. Do not waste your money on ATi. For at least 2 years until AMD and ATi can get their act together. It would be a huge waste buying the new ATi. Just wait 2 to 3 weeks and get the GX2 which will be 20% faster than the new ATi card at the same price.
EDIT: The new card for ATi is 2 gpu processors in one card. So really its a crossfire config in one card much like the Nvidia 7950 was. The GX2 will be the same. the 9800 GTX will be the next gen card. The real 9-series that will retail at around $600 ish.
For now Nvidia is king of the bunch.
Great another ignorant Nvidia fanboy, just 10% faster then the Ultra? So what it costs 450 FREAKING DOLLARS! The ultra cost what again when it was out? 800? FFS most standard 8800GTX cards which the 3870x2 destroys cost more then that!
It's about the price performance ration and right now the 3870x2 is raping Nvidia in this regard.
btw there is a large amount of talk abotu the 9800 series having some serious heating issues from Nvidias partners.
8800GT SLI>>>>>>>>3870X2.:roll::lol: another Nvidia fanboy :lol: most sites show the 3870 crossfire (which is a bit slower then the 3870x2) as slower then the 8800GT sli
Especially at 8x AA were the 8800GT sli is a freaking trainwreck :lol:
LOL so much denial.:lol:http://www.anandtech.com/video/showdoc.aspx?i=3209&p=4

:lol: :lol: AnandTech could you pick a more bias source :lol: :lol: what are you going to link me to next that Nvidia Fan Zone group Nvidia runs to keep their pets like anand in line :lol:
Anyway your benchmarks don't even point out 8XAA and if you spend all that money with the exception of crysis with a dual card setup what game wouldn't you want to run at, at least 8XAA???
:lol: :lol: http://www.computerbase.de/artikel/hardware/grafikkarten/2008/test_ati_radeon_hd_3870_x2/8/#abschnitt_anno_1701
The 3870 X2 is actually more then 100% faster then even the 8800 ULTRA at 8xAA :lol: this test in particular doesn't show 8x on an SLI, but its a bandwidth flaw throughout Nvidias 8 Series were it takes a huge freaking hit from 8XAA, seriously you would have to be retarded to go with the SLI 8 series knowing this unless you only plan to play Crysis :lol:
:lol: :lol: :lol: The 8 series is prone to choke so hard at 8xAA that EVEN THE FREAKING 3x 8800 ULTRA looses to a SINGLE 3870X2 :lol: :lol:
There is no side by side, but if you look between the link above and this one you can compare.
http://www.computerbase.de/artikel/hardware/grafikkarten/2008/test_nvidia_3-way-sli_triple-sli/
And you could by four freaking 3870X2s for the price of 2 8800 Ultras alone :lol: :lol: :lol:
FEAR 2560 by 1600 8xAA
3x 8800 Ultra = 42 fps
2x 8800 Ultra = 30 fps
3870X2 = 37 fps
Anno 1701 (huge rts in europe) 2560 by 1600 8xAA
3x 8800 Ultra = 20.7 fps
3870X2 = 40.6 fps
Bioshock 2560 by 1600
2x 8800 Ultra = 41 fps
3870X2 = 37.4 fps
And those are freaking Ultras!!! One of em is like twice the cost of a 3870x2!! The 8800GT / GT sli is COMPLETE GARBAGE when it comes to 8xAA
