Wow...so...360 sales have never gone below double what PS3 did last month.  That's really really bad for PS3.

I was seriously considering buying a PS3 as a second console, but with these kind of numbers I better wait. Developer support isn't going to last too long with sales like this.$600 is too much to invest in an iffy console.

 Elite launched April 29th. NPD had already stoped tracking the April numbers.

NPD doesnt work exactly month to month.

The Wii sold 259000 in March. Supply constrained.

well, you have to remember that the PS3 was having supply constrictions too. They also said that they would try their hardest to meet demand.... wait, 80K? LIES!!!!!!!!!! 

PS3 sold a woeful 82,000 units for the month, while the Nintendo DS once again stole the show with 471K. PS3 sales were so low that Nintendo's ancient GBA sold more with 84K.

The best selling console was Nintendo's Wii with 360K sold, while the Xbox 360 sold an unimpressive 174K. Sony's PS2 beat out the 360 (again) with 194K. The PSP sold 183K units and the GameCube (essentially on life support) sold just 13K.

On a life-to-date basis, the hardware install bases in the U.S. now look like this:

Not only did Nintendo dominate hardware in April, but Mario and Co. also took the top four slots on the top 10 chart. People bought Pokemon on DS like hotcakes, as Diamond and Pearl combined for over 1.7 million sold. Super Paper Mario also did quite well on Wii with 352K sold. The 360 isn't in a mass market price range, so ANYONE that says it should beeat the $129 ps2 is either blind or simply acting uninformed.

Once the 360 (and to a less extent the ps3) hit the mass market price of $249, they will continue to have to wait until Q4 in order to see hardware increase.

It's all about price, plain and simple!

Wait til Mays #s come in.  The Elite numbers will be on there plus this month Halo 3 beta plus Forza.  There will be a spike for 360 next couple of months.  Still I don't trust NPD 100% either their numbers were off by 2 million one time for 360 numbers in a 3 month period.  Estimates are esitmates I never fully trust them.rexoverbey

I did a post on this last year.  It was in the first fiscal quarter of last year.  360 had 3.5 million sold and total NPD was just at over 2 million worldwide.   Still it was more like 1.5 million but still it was way off.  I never go by NPD they just get estimates from a small group of retailers and make estimates off of those.  It's not like they contact every store in the US and find out real sales numbers.  Plus their lack of Wal-Mart, the number one retail chain in the US, included in their sales makes the uncredible IMO.

so the new pokemon games have sold nearly 7 million worldwide in about 8 months, and they were only available in japan for all but the last week of that timespan. that's ridiculous.
