WOW at Nintendo!! The DS is a beast and the Wii looks like it is going to be one as well. Haters can deny the DS and Wiis success till their faces turn blue, but that is not going to change a thing. I mean Nintendo is dominating North America, Canada, Japan, Europe, Australia, basically the whole world it seems. Developers and publishers have to be looking at how much the Wii is annihilating the competition from month to month, and I think you are going to see even more major support thrown the Wii's way.
[QUOTE="Trading_Zoner"]175K is pretty good.
PS2 performed about that well a few aprils.
AND 360 is more expensive than ps2 was.
Wit till Halo 3 and a price drop comes.Â

As long as nintendo keeps spending their money on stuff like buying out Monolith Soft. Im happy that they are making so much of it!
I actually concur. If they start buying some nice developers and stuff. I would definitly be happy with itÂ
The Xbox 360 is clearly beginning to run out of potential customers at the $400 Premium price point. Halo 3's sales boost will be relatively short lived if they don't drop the price.
Sony's major problem is that consumers who wish to buy a game console consider the Xbox 360 more-or-less equivalent to the PS3. There are purchase threshholds and plateaus. PS3 and Xbox 360 both live in the > $400 realm. The bulk of those who purchase a console in that range are selecting the cheapest option in the range. It helps that it's been out for over a year and has more games.
Even if Sony can and does drop their price, they will be sipping from a well that has already been sucked dry by Microsoft. This will happen to them again and again through successive price drops. Every time they manage to drop below a purchase threshhold, they will find that Microsoft has been successful in selling to the majority of possible customers in that price range for a year.
That's why PS3 never catches Xbox 360 in North America.Â
LMAO at HypnotoadI shall post this again!

Go ahead by the end of July Wii is worldwide Console Leader. Then the Battle for Second Place occurs. WHo will win the 360 or the GBA
Â
what good is leading in sales, when you still cannot get major 3rd party games cause the hardware sucks?Â
You'll get the support, otherwise the third parties will lose money, while Nintendo makes tonsÂ
Bu bu bu we got teh Home
And to think, I had the audacity to compare PS3 to the C128, it's more like the VirtuaBoy...

So let's get this straight on the planet Bovine. It's unfair to mention PS3 sales in relation to Wii because Wii is $250 whereas PS3 is $600, but PSP owns the 360 even though it costs $163 whereasa 360 costs $400.

[QUOTE="kentaro22"]Xbox 360 is not doing so good either.Plug1Plug2
I don't think 174,000 is bad for this time of year. Is it?
According to an article I saw on here after one of the NPD releases, a console selling 200K-300K in a non holiday month is considered good. So while its not great, its not horrible either.Â

I watched CNN and they talked about the video games. One economic analyst said that the success of Wii is due to the times in which inflations are increasing, highest record gas prices, decrease in the value of houses, etc... (in other words, affordable price). It seems that most consumer don't see a good reason to buy a $600 console that requires you to have a HDTV. Technology wise, it's right on the PS3, economic times, it's bad timing for the PS3. PS3 is not only product affected, American cars where mostly affected. Funny how both are cocky and arrogant.Zaistev_basic
There is obviously a whole lot more to it than tha.t Else these sales trends would not be replicated across 10s of other countries with varying economic status.Â

Besides, the economy is great in this country at the moment.. Imagine if we were in a recession - then imagine the PS3 numbers.
PS3 sold a woeful 82,000 units for the month, while the Nintendo DS once again stole the show with 471K. PS3 sales were so low that Nintendo's ancient GBA sold more with 84K.
The best selling console was Nintendo's Wii with 360K sold, while the Xbox 360 sold an unimpressive 174K. Sony's PS2 beat out the 360 (again) with 194K. The PSP sold 183K units and the GameCube (essentially on life support) sold just 13K.
DS 471,000
Wii 360,000
PS2 194,000
PSP 183,000
Xbox360 174,000
GBA 84,000
PS3 82,000
Â
On a life-to-date basis, the hardware install bases in the U.S. now look like this:
# PS2 - 38.2 million
# GBA - 35.7 million
# GameCube - 11.7 million
# Nintendo DS - 10.9 million
# PSP - 7.4 million
# Xbox 360 - 5.4 million
# Wii - 2.5 million
# PS3 - 1.3 million
Not only did Nintendo dominate hardware in April, but Mario and Co. also took the top four slots on the top 10 chart. People bought Pokemon on DS like hotcakes, as Diamond and Pearl combined for over 1.7 million sold. Super Paper Mario also did quite well on Wii with 352K sold. The complete top 10 chart follows below.

Who really gives a crap? We buy what we want amd like, throwing a bunch of numbers in are faces wont stop that from happening.
People will still buy the PS3 and x360, and awsome games WILL come out for them that will keep them around, and there is nothing you can do to stop that, so who gives a **** about a bunch of numbers.
I guess if it makes you feel better about your purchase, then have at it.
BTW Nintendo SUCKS. ( thats my opinon of course), i'll prob get band now, we all know you can't say anything bad about nintendo without the mods jumping all over your ass. lol
They should change the website name to NintendoSpot, home of the ass kissers.

I think thats a very short sighted attitude. If the numbers keep on dropping then devs will indeed stop making games for the system which will have a knock on effect with potential buyers which inturn will mean devs make less games.....
do you see the trend.
You only have to look back at the N64 to see how things could turn out, a great system but handled really badly and WAY overpriced with very few games, we all know how that ended up.

Yeah but is Nintendo wining with the Wii because it's a way better system, or just because it's so cheap and easy to play? Im sorry but if the xbox 360 and PS3 droped out and all that was left was Nintendo i would just have to go all Pc gameing, because consoles would be dead to me.
These include the sales of the Elite, right?
Jandurin
Yes. NPD doesn't differentiate SKUs. I believe it covers up to a few days after the elite was released

I never even mentioned the Wii at all, i was tryin to explain what could happen to the ps3 by using the N64 as an analogy. It would seem you're unable to understand a proper comment or arguement.
hey...it's gonna be nice saying "the 360 is twice as many ps3".

Really it did....Wow those are pretty poor numbers for the 360 if it counted the Elite, with a new system and all you would expect a lot higher numbers.Â
