The order at least seems more interesting. Ryse uses a lot of bullshit tricks to simulate the levels are bigger than they actually are. In nearly every level you're stuck on a linear path.

especially during the war sequences, lots of poorly done effects mask the battlefield such to simulate a siege is actually taking place when it's not at all, the only thing that's happening is you're stuck in a quasi- arena area that keeps sending you barbarians to kill until you can move on. It's got some nice textures but that's about it really.

I only completed Ryse on pc max settings so I have no idea how awful the xbone version is.

to be fair I haven't played the order guys, I'm simply saying I approve of the games visual style more. Hence why I said it seemed more interesting.

Just stating Ryse is far from a technological marvel.

neither is the order really considering how many sacrifices they had to make to make it look that good.

Fair enough. But the way you phrased that made it seems like The Order is more interesting because Ryse is so linear.

Oh I'm sure. I'm just saying I like the look of the game more than Ryse.

@fantasygamer: Ryse has better graphics by a landslide.

I actually prefer the setting of Ryse (don't care for the whole Victorian London with werewolves thing), but if I had to play either game through, I'd go with The Order if only for the reason that a dull shooter is less painful than a dull hack and slash IMO.

Yeah ancient rome is fucking awesome, it's a shame crytek kind of squanders the opportunity with their awful level design. More games need to be set in the ancient world. Victorian England is a fantastic setting as well for the order.

lmao!

The Order: 1886 is an action-adventure story-focused game with shooting mechanics where players journey through linear set paths in each level to complete the story. Players take control of Galahad, a knight of 'The Order'. Players defeat human and werewolf-like creatures, using a varied selection of firearms. Players complete puzzles and interact with NPCs while following the game's story.
