Are you talking about the screen-shots taken from peoples pc's?

Of course not im talking about the pics that were shown before the game was released . And time and time again hermits say there pc's cant run them at a playable framerate. The one taken from peopels pc's never look as good as the ones that were released before the game had come out. Why? Because that was a highly optimized demo for a quad GPU pc and most people simply dont have the horsepower to run it like the way it was orginally shown.

Metal Gear Solid's 4 detail and character models alone are incredible. They far surpass Uncharted. Metal Gear Solid 4 also has subtle visual touches that make this game that much more realistic. The bump-mapping is great, self-shadowing and lighting is awesome. The particle effects from the explosions. I think i should just stop there and go back to playing the game.

Gears of War beats Mass Effect, BioShock and GT5: Prologue tbh.

There all great looking games, but i think Gears is behind in many areas. Detail, water effects, character animation, Anti-aliasing, lighting, color contrast ( no really.. looking back their was almost no distinction between something organic or man made). The graphical jump has actually been huge from 06 to 07.
Assasins Creed...thats another game with great graphics(imo always looked better than Gears).

I agree Gears is still a great looking game but not even close to the best. If I were gonna name the top games on consoles it would be as follows.

I was thinking NG2 would be up there but I havent played it yet so I dont know. I also didnt but GT5 or Grid in there because racing games are so much easier to do.

Hell yeah , i have 2 mega pixel resolution with 1080p Ready HDTV!! But i guess the game is only a 720p , right?

I love MGS4 as much as the next guy, but even i can admit its not a graphical powerhouse. Sure, it looks great. Everything you mentioned looks great, and i have to give credit for the attention to detail in the game. But the environments let the game down, which is why i dont think it looks better than Geow or Uncharted.

Same goes for GT5: P, has great car models but the environments look crap. Bioshock does look great, although the splicer models are pretty bad. And i havent played Mass Effect, so i wouldnt know. So imo GeoW is still second.

I was very suprised at the graphics of MGS4. When i saw gameplay footage and screens i thought it looked good but not that amazing. When i played the game on my console though i was amazed at how fantastic it looked. It's a shame people are posting crappy pics to downplay how awesome the game looks.

It's not just that people are posting bad screens/videos, it's that MGS4 looks so good for more than reasons involving simply textures (which is about all a screenshot shows).

I have Crysis, I can play it in high settings. Technically it looks better than MGS4, but MGS4 is still more impressive to me. It has better animation, far more diverse/interesting environments, subtle ambience/atmosphere effects (camera lens getting dirty/snow/etc.), and on down the list. Sure, the IQ of Crysis is higher, but regardless of what some of you people think, it will not change my mind that MGS4 is far more impressive to play and watch. I guess it has a lot to do with Kojima and his team just seem to have put a lot more into making the game, so all the subtle additions and attention to detail add up to create the most impressive game I have ever seen. Disagree with me if you want, but it's my opinion, so you can't say I'm wrong.

(edit: Also, before everyone says I'm wrong, you should take note as to whether or not you have ever actually played through MGS4 and Crysis before forming your own opinion. Watching videos of both or one doesn't count for anything.)

Gears 2 looks like it will beat them all, but then killzone 2 will come and retake that. The whole graphics king argument in relation to consoles is pointless though, because you have to act like PC's don't exist, nor that they have crysis as the trump card with infinite uses.Vaasman

MGS4 can compete with Crysis in some aspects.. Play MGS4 and you will understand what i mean by "compete in some ways with crysis". MGS4 has remarkable detail for a console game in motion.. incredible imo.

PS3 is certainly capable of good things. But so is the 360.

We have plenty of examples at this point to show us that the machines are capable of similar graphics (with the expected thing or 2 each can do that the other cannot do easily).

Why we argue ad infinitum is silly.

I'm 100% sure the PS3 can do Gears of War's visuals.

I'm 100% sure the 360 can do Metal Gear's visuals.

Yeah, 720p native but it upscales to 1080.

Since the games you mentioned are all exclusive to the PS3, it's hard to say that that means the PS3 is graphically better than the 360. There is nothing to suggest that the 360 couldn't run them identically. But, yes, Uncharted is great, I'm not too sure about MGS4 and GT5P.

360 could not run uncharted because it's on blu-ray and is too big. There is no point comparing Multiplats because the differences are just due to the devs and not really the systems (and results aren't consistent). Gears looks great, but that is the only visually outstanding exclusive on the 360. Uncharted looks great also, but to decide this, I am guessing it will have to be a comparison between Killzone 2 and Gears 2.

hahahahahah, calling MGS4 the graphics king? or part of it? are you kidding me????? it might be fluid but it's upscaled sub-HD resolution, jam packed with low res textures, suffers from framerate issues - EVEN DURING CUTSCENES! (this is noted in many reviews). it also has ZERO anti-aliasing and is covered in jaggies in parts.

nevertheless, it still got 10 in graphics didnt it ? personally by looking at the pics and videos i dont think that it should get more than 9 in graphics , but from what ive heard , you should play it to apreciate it

Majority, nice fact. I read 20 reviews of GTA IV. 2 said Ps3, the rest said there was no Difference at all. The poster said ANY MULTIPLAT looks better on 360. You just said yourself that Oblivion looks the same. Notice I didn't say it looked better on PS3, only that the 360 version wasn't better. COD4 another game which has no differences (I have seen both with my own eyes and looked that up). And not I am not "lol, seriously trying to claim all 3 are better", I am saying that they are NOT better on 360, andTOC48 has no idea what he is talking about. DMC4 - 8.0. If an 8 sucks then we can stop this argument right now because I am not prepared to have a conversation with ignorance.
