Has no one noticed that the ps3 lineup us better then the 360 in 2009 80% of people think so according to another topic on this website and has no one eles noticed that all of the 360 main hitters has already been released and now sony is going on about all of its games and it has everyone coming out next year this is a business plan Plonkers come on it was clear its less competition next year and when adverts are on tv all the time for ps3 games and nothing for the 360 because nothing is coming out the 360 sales are going to drop so fast and yeah the specs for the ps3 are far more powerful then the 360 it is clear get use to it shoemen22the problem is we don't know what games are comming for the 360 in 2009

It'll be like that voice activated game that came out recently I dont really have faith in Halo Wars. the recent closure of ensemble doesn't bode well and their best days were already behind them, the tacked on halo license also stinks of Nintendo style marketing. Rare suck (imo) and the new halo expansion sounds cool but criminally short they need some big IP's and new IP's and so far i'm not seeing much
They're gonna prove 1080p @ 60fps?EuroMafiaFull uncompromised 1920x1080@60Hz? With all the bells and whistles, might I add?
Those of you who remember the early days of the PS2 will remember the ongoing joke amongst those who didn't like the console. It went something like, "oh yeah, where's all that 'hidden power'?" They said this because Sony promised the system was capable of a lot more than the launch titles presented, and obviously, the likes of God of War II, Final Fantasy XII and Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater can't really be compared to the likes of Summoner, Tekken Tag Tournament and TimeSplitters. It's like comparing two different platforms, really, which essentially verified Sony's claims. However, most just remember that old joke, and were quick to apply it to the PlayStation 3. Of course, PlayStation consoles are notoriously difficult to develop for initially, so the jokes endure but typically, Sony has the last laugh.
And now that we're entering the third year of the generation, is it now time for the PS3 to separate itself from the Xbox 360 in terms of visuals? Speaking strictly in regards to raw power and potential, the PS3 has the definite edge, but the question has always been: "can the developers even tap into it? Can they take advantage?" Well, let's just say this. We've already sampled the Killzone 2 beta and early single-player build. We've seen what Heavy Rain gameplay looks like. We've heard David Jaffe rave his head off after seeing some of God of War III. Uncharted 2 will look amazing (as did the original), and is anyone really expecting anything less than a graphically astounding presentation in Gran Turismo 5?
First of all, I really don't see anything in Microsoft or Nintendo's 2009 lineup that can compete with these exclusives next year, but for the sake of this piece, I'm specifically centering on the graphics. Thus far, the argument can rage- Uncharted: Drake's Fortune, Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots and LittleBigPlanet vs. Gears of War II, Halo 3, Left 4 Dead and other graphically intense 360 titles. Which batch is better? The anal visual freaks could go on for days.
But perhaps the argument dies next year. As was the case with the Xbox and PS2 - everyone had to admit the Xbox was more capable, and typically produced better-looking titles - perhaps it will be time for everyone to concede that the 360 can't compete with the PS3. Many theorize that while the PS3 has a loooong ways to go in terms of potential, the 360 is just about maxed out, and unless I see concrete evidence of 360 titles vastly outstripping the current productions in 2009 and beyond, I think the conclusion is clear. Most developers and analysts said the exact same thing, even at the start of the PS3's lifespan, when it was all doom and gloom.
They said the PS3 will eventually pass the 360 in terms of graphics, and that day may be fast approaching. Let me repeat the list: Killzone 2, God of War III, Heavy Rain, Uncharted 2: Among Thieves, and Gran Turismo 5. All I'm asking - and it's a legitimate question - is what in Microsoft's or Nintendo's exclusive repertoire can compete with that as far as overall quality is concerned? And what on the 360 can compete where the graphics are concerned?
Honestly, even the most ardent Xbox lover has to admit that things could change drastically in 2009. And remember, I was one of the first to acknowledge the Xbox over the PS2; I bought most all multiplatform titles on Microsoft's console last generation. This time around? I'm thinking not. And especially when talking about the exclusives, it appears to be game, set and match in favor of Sony...

I can't wait until 2009 finally kicks off!
Current graphics king says hi.Has no one noticed that the ps3 lineup us better then the 360 in 2009 80% of people think so according to another topic on this website and has no one eles noticed that all of the 360 main hitters has already been released and now sony is going on about all of its games and it has everyone coming out next year this is a business plan Plonkers come on it was clear its less competition next year and when adverts are on tv all the time for ps3 games and nothing for the 360 because nothing is coming out the 360 sales are going to drop so fast and yeah the specs for the ps3 are far more powerful then the 360 it is clear get use to it shoemen22you best be trolling sonny, 360 specs are slightly better than PS3's.
Just wait, PS3 will prove it's power in 2007!
Just wait, PS3 will prove it's power in 2008!
Just wait, PS3 will prove it's power in 2009!
Change the record. There's no secret compartment on the PS3 containing the power of the Sun.
Killzone 2 to kick it all off. Very nice start I'd say. siLVURcrossKillzone 2 look great, but no better then Resistance 2 or Gears of War 2. It's definitely not leaps and bound better looking then the competition. I've seen it in action. Hopefully it'll do better then Resistance 2 did at retail. I'm expecting the 360's visuals will get better in 2009 and 2010 as well. Neither system is going to outdo one or the other though. Every game on the PS3 can be done on the XBox 360 and visa-versa. Sony's PR spin before the PS3 launched was bogus as usual. Saying their games would look 2x & 3x better then their competition must have been an inside joke or something, cause that has never happened.
Where have I heard this before...Verge_6I think it was in 2007 when someone said that 2008 was going to be the year of the PS3. We've been hearing PS3 graphics are better then Xbox 360 graphics ever since Resistance was released. lol!! Graphics are pretty much the same. Uncharted, MGS4, Resistance 2 can all be done on the XBox 360 with the same grapnics. So i don't know why Cows keep believing the PS3 graphics are leagues above the XBox 360.

As I recall, Kojima had needed the resources of an entire SPE just for that, on top of what he had cooking everywhere else.
When all the rhetoric is stripped away, all that is left here is another "just wait" argument. Booring !!!
I dunno... if it were me, I think I might approach this a little differently. Everything you say may indeed turn out to be dead on in 2009: the hidden power of the cell finally materializes, the 360 proves to be tapped out, the multiplats start looking better on the PS3, etc. But again, were I a cow, simply shame and common sense would stop me from proclaiming such things UNTIL THEY ACTUALLY HAPPENED. I mean, after saying the same damn things day after day, month after month, for 3 frickin' years, all with no payoff and egg dripping down your faces, at what point will you people get a grip, develop the common sense and brains that God grants to below-par stalks of celery, and actually DO THE WAITING instead of telling US to just wait. It's bloody embarrassing.

You're gonna have to provide a link for this, because that sounds ridiculous. 1 SPE is about the equivalent of 1 thread in the Xenon.

If it was done on the PS3, I'm sure it could be done on the XBox 360 as well. The only thing the PS3 has going for it is more storage with the Blu-Ray. The fact that you can swap the PS3 HDD to whatever size you chose is also a nice option. Graphically though, there is a huge difference between the PS3 and XBox 360. Comparisons today by Gamestop and IGN still show the XBox 360 slight better with multiplats and some PS3 exclusives looking slightly better. On both sides it's nimor though. Not a huge difference like VHS video to 720P DVD. That's what Sony was spinning.THe best part will be when, yet again, DS sells more than everything ever and continues to deliver the best games. "Oh but where are the HD graphics?" "Shh too busy having fun"Wow another ps3/360 rule 2009 topic. This is getting out of control

PS3 is a processing monster. I can't even imagine what the games will look like in a year or two. The texture rendering is already superb and far beyond anything I've seen on my 360.
Dead Space & GTA IV! That's pretty much all that needs to be said.
I'll agree that the PS3 has some graphically great looking games for 09 but lets not forget that most of them has in almost unlimited budge and that they've been in develpment for half a decade.
Can't wait to see the upgrade in Covictions and Alan Wake...I'm sure Forza 3 will give GT5 a run for it's money too...

Funny that PS3's CELL only scores 900 PPD while Geforce 8600M GT GDDR3 scores ~1200 PPD in Fold@Home. This is a none graphical task, but the GPU specialised for... graphical tasks...
In Crysis 1.2, Geforce 8600 GT (256MB VRAM 128bit external wide bus) beaten Geforce 7950 GT(2X 256bit wide external bus, 2X 512MB) SLI. Link
Sony's own white paper in using 5 SPEs as pixel shaders i.e. equals 20 pixel shader enabled Geforce 7800GTX (has 16 ROPS, 24 pixel shaders). Unlike Geforce 7800GTX, RSX only has 8 ROPS and 128bit wide external bus. Remember CELL's is active in it's own external bus.
Read page 31, design flaw with Geforce 7 family from NVIDIA's own paper
You should realise by now why Geforce 7 family is !@#$ in complex streaming/shader processing.

IIRC, the Xenos, while superior to the RSX, is far from the number-crunching beast of the GF8's. Otherwise, why wasn't a F@H client developed for it? The Xenon is Power-based like the Cell, so they could use the PS3 code. Meanwhile, they have all their work with the ATI GPU clients to help build for the Xenos. And the 360 has better market penetration than the PS3, so they'll get more clients on board. So why don't they?
Despite proving itself to be the weakest of the lasting consoles last gen, the PS2 had the last laugh on the "hidden power" argument? I don't really see the logic.mattbbpl
God of War 2 came out in 2007 and was one of the best looking PS2 games.

Being the best looking game on a specific console does not prove that console's superiority over t he other consoles. All console's graphics get better over time because code can be reused and new tricks for the hardware are discovered. The fact that the PS2 followed this same principle that all consoles follow does not prove Sony's claims of "hidden power" which would propel the graphical qualities of it's titles over those of it's competitors.its true, first year of ps3 wasten the greatest, but it got better and better, and in 2008, and 2009 imo ps3 exlusives kill LInKThose of you who remember the early days of the PS2 will remember the ongoing joke amongst those who didn't like the console.
