[QUOTE="Vandalvideo"][QUOTE="legalize3"]you do know that crysis is also a xp game so no it wont be a streaming game and devs cant bank on 3rd party programs...so it will be 100% an installation gamelegalize3

Can't bank on third party programs? Nice imaginery rule you just made up. Crysis can be streamed from the disc on XP as well thanks to third party programs. Fact.

that doesnt mean all those people will useor know about those programs...

the only way those people can play that game is by installing the game.....

SOO NO CRYSIS WONT BE A STREAMING ONLY GAME...

FACT

User ignorance is not a valid counter arguement. Sorry mate. The fact remains Crysis can be streamed from a disc, which illegitimates your claims.

[QUOTE="SolidSnake35"][QUOTE="fixer293"]Gears, Oblivion and Mass efect prove it is not needed for games.BrooklynBomber

You said HD as well, which is what I based my comment on. All those games are much more enjoyable in HD.

Dude, Blu-ray nor HD are needed, These games did not need those to be awsome, got it, end of story.

I never said they weren't awesome without it.

Love how people try to put words in there you never said.

He was saying how much of an advantage it was for the PS3, but yet 360 does not have it and has more AAA's. Now tell me why it is needed, when it really has no advantage other than storage. It adds no graphics capabilities whatsoever. It is only needed for movies not games.

It was debunked ORLY ??

You won't see different times of day per city because this involves recreating all the textures again (one for day and one for night). Whilst this wasn't a problem for our dev team, it was a problem fitting all this data onto a single DVD. So we've worked around the problem by providing different lighting models per city. For example, Macau is always in the daytime, but if you play it during a storm everything looks darker and more foreboding. If you play during a blizzard then things are slightly tinged blue and everything seems more frozen. Of course, playing this track in sunshine will make everything appear bright and yellowy.

Now today they say:

Rather than having two "fixed" times of day, this time around we decided to use our time to create a dynamic weather system, which effectively creates a much more dramatic palette from which to work with. We've never had to cut content to fit on the disc, and we probably never will.

Time of day dropped confirmed due to lack of space on dvd-9

I see you ignored every other point I made. It's tough to respond when you've got no points, but it was a good try in making a big deal out of only one point.

As I stated you claimed the the pgr4 rumour was "debunked" but I proved otherwise. It is a big deal because a feature that was supossed to be in pgr4 got dropped due to lack of space in only the 2nd gen. Like I said before the issues bought up do not change the fact that dvd-9 is too small and has been confimed by a ms 1st party on a racing game no less.

The way I see it, is Blu-ray and Hd give a game storage, which means more gameplay, but if the game sucks, do you want to continue playing it?...I wouldn't. Gears was a good length, because I didn't sit down and try to beat it in one day. I haven't even beat oblivion, I just run around killing things and doing side quests. So to me the formats are not needed at this time for games.

the extra $200 in price for bluray to be included is a HUGE disadvantage to mass gamers.... as proven by the poor ps3 sales...

nice try...;)

tango90101

its selling better than ps1/ps2 in their first year and how come the 360 is failing to the wii?
