@mesome713: how
You know what this will be very good for? Comparisons by DF and other youtube channels/sites like it. This piece of tech will open the eyes of many about how atrociously outdated the Switch is. Literal laughing stock sold to you at a premium with no price drops. Now, be ready to see a bunch of comparisons between the two, and the "bu bu but the Switch is a mobile system, guys" will not work.
The Switch is about to get clapped. Finally some competition in the mobile space.
I will never understand the need to play games so badly you need to have a mobile system. Just wait until you're home and you have an actual, dedicated system that can do it right.
But hey, more power to you if you enjoy this kind of this. Just not for me.
@hardwenzen: It's not competing with the Switch. Like Steambox, it's for those who want their PC library consolized.
Plus, Nintendo has made crystal clear they aren't competing after the GameCube (favorite console of revisionists) failed.

Don't bother denying it. It will be compared by absolutely everyone. DF will be milking so many videos exposing Nintendo's hardware. The time has come. You just wait and see.
@hardwenzen: Nobody will care though. The videos that will be fun to watch are the IPhone 12 blowing this thing out the water. And other phones that’ll also destroy this device. This thing can’t even do 4K like modern day phones and doesn’t even have Oled yet. It’s already old tech and hasn’t even released yet.

Who the hell cares about a phone? DF will milk comparing the deck to the switch, not a phone lol. Nintendo must be sweating right now, knowing their next system is years away and MOST CERTAINLY less powerful than the deck LULUL.
Imagine knowing your sytem is years away, and at the same time, behind what will be available this year. They had the excuse when compared to ps/xbox because they were the only mobile system, but now, now they have none. Nintendo is boned. Gonna be really funny to see what happens next.
@hardwenzen: How is Nintendo sweating? This thing just plays old games. And kids and parents don’t watch DF. They don’t even know what the crap is. And you don’t care about a phone yet your saying a cheap wannabe phone is gonna destroy Nintendo. Lol.
Bro wake us up when this thing gets a 4K Oled with a data plan. Until then, we gives zero cares.
@palasta: That's a positive IMO, and the hardware is an open platform where you can run whatever you want, I don't see the downside
Sure, if you are a (closeted) console gamer.
After steam machines and steam controller failed, why would this be any different? The one mild success Valve had with hardware was with VR, thanks to their piggybacking effort.

What? Why would you look at their previous failures (only 2 of them. not like they had 10 in a row) and judge their next product by their previous failures. The specs are out. They're great and miles better than the Switch. You can play everything available on pc, and that's thousands of games on the go. While Nintendo has laughable third party support, this has it all.
This is going to get absolutely slaughtered in sales. 😂🤣

@hardwenzen: Because Valve is out of touch. Who the heck releases a device to compete with phones that can’t do 4K and does t have an Oled screen? This is 2021. This thing has old tech and isn’t even released yet.
Valve asking people, hey, who wants to play PC games on a handheld. And people are like, you mean like I do with my 4K Oled phone? Ok Gabe.
@mrbojangles25: It’s pretty popular among kids. They like to play Switch, Ipad, IPhone with out and about or while your watching tv.
Ah that makes sense, guess I'm not the target demographic.
It's not very portable device either. You, at least, need a backpack for it. It will not fit the pockets and will be an extra wait carrying around.
And who wants to play freaking portal for 10th time in 2021
If i need to carry anything extra around i would rather take my tablet for book reading, netflix watching and gaming and I can game properly once i am at home.
Nintendo Switch doesn't fit in pockets but that hasn't stopped millions upon millions of people buying it and gaming on the go. Considering how small it is I doubt the "extra weight" you'll be carrying will be noticeable or a big deal. You can play things besides Portal, the video showed other games you could play like Control and Doom Eternal.
Well, this is why i take only my phone when i go somewhere and leave my switch behind LOL. Nintendo switch portable goes for 200USD though and has unique exclusives. If you want to take it somewhere, you will need a protective case not to screw up the sticks in your bag, which diminishes portability even more. Talking from my own experience.
The point I'm trying to make is that even though you don't find it portable enough plenty of people still do. The Steam Deck's cheapest model is $399 and gives you access to the entire Steam library with a lot of unique PC titles that aren't on the consoles.
64GB is not good for anything bruh
Plenty of older and smaller titles that use hardly more than 10GB. Even then you just buy an SD card on sale. That $200 Switch you brought up has half the storage space of $399 Steam Deck.
@hardwenzen: It's not competing with the Switch. Like Steambox, it's for those who want their PC library consolized.

Hey, so be it. They're not a publicly traded company, they can still take risks. Good for them.
At least someone in the industry still has balls.
There world would be a better place with more Valves in the world.

This is what Nintendo offers for $60🤭While the Deck have access to the cheap pc games and all third party support. This is not looking pretty and i can tell you're already sweating just like Mesome713 (even tho he is panicking more than you do🤭)

It's made for a different group of consumers, Einstein. This expensive steam machine isn't going to appeal to a broad demographic just like steam box didn't.
This device will only sell to early tech adopters and a few pc gamers. It will have a few early sales and then bottom out just like everything else that tries to copy something popular in design only without knowing or understanding the philosophy of its customers or the company they're copying. Kinda like you and your lack of understanding about everything Nintendo.

THIS IS MORE POWERFUL THAN THE SWITCH 3 WILL BE AHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA
Well, if there even is a Switch 3. With Switch demand collapsing rapidly, Nintendo might have to go third-party soon. Maybe then they'll be smart and partner with Valve! :D
I don't know broh, perhaps a JRPG Dragon Quest 7 that is not available anywhere but Android and Iphones
Or Genshin Impact
Oh word and what games are you going to play on that?
LOL you gotta be trolling or protoss hacked your account

Switch is also dying on its own. It's readily available even in Japan now. Next year will be brutal for Switch. They might even have to cancel Switch 2 and go third-party right away! Then Metriod Prime 4 and Bayonetta 3 will be multiplat! 😁
Not interested, but definitely see the appeal.
Could be wrong, but don't see this shifting many units. That being said, wouldn't matter much to the end user. Not like you need to wonder if it'll be successful enough to amass a good library lol. Day 1 you're set.

Excuse me??? There is a cheap version, and that version would be for the Switch demographic aka children. Most of them already own a $600 ipad their parents bought them. This device is the holy grail for those kids/teens that are into fartnite, minecraft, etc.
Nobody said that the Switch will all of a sudden stop selling, but the pressure will be on their ass. Releasing lazy af ports ain't gonna cut it. All the DF comparisons will do some severe PR damage. The exposing of the Switch hardware is A C T I V A T E D, and you can't stop what's coming.

Lighting a fire under Nintendo's ass would be a great thing for their complacency, I agree with that. Unfortunately, I doubt this thing will sell enough for anyone to take notice, or be afraid of.

lol calm down. they're not going anywhere, but they will be exposed for their laziness and incredibly outdated hardware, which is a good thing.
@hardwenzen: Indie games will be fun to compare. We’ll all say, both play the same, but Steam Decks outdated lcd screen and poor audio make this a must play on Switch Oled. The Oled really brings the black and colors to life.
But if you want best experience. Play this game on 4K Oled Phone ;)

And why do you think that? Prices are very reasonable (the cheapest one is more than reasonable). Seems like a well build piece of tech. Has access to thousands of games and will receive all the third party on day one, which is important because third party are the ones that deliver the highest amount of quality titles. And from my understanding, its pretty much a pc? So you can do more than just play games. That is a lot of strengths for such a small piece of tech.
I never was into mobile gaming, but i am thinking of getting one of these because i don't own a tablet, so this could serve me as one and i wouldn't mind playing some Elden Ring when i am in the woods, a lake, etc.

Because, even you've said stuff like this in the past, "who wants to play games on a small screen, bla bla bla" so there's your answer: guys like you who hail graphics and performance above all else don't want to game on a handheld. Most people who do, don't give one rat's ass about teh tech n powah.
Maybe scalpers will buy these up and give the false impression that they're selling well, but they might be left holding the bag if they don't sell to your average people like Switch does.

lol you keep talking about the screen because its THE ONLY advantage the Switch has. And don't celebrate too early, you might be getting burn ins on that thing.
The Deck has so many advantages over the Switch that i'd be ready to bet you money that Nintendo is currently sweating in Japan. You can EVEN play Nintendo games with emulation lol i didn't even think of that. Ouch. I feel for nintendo right now😥

Third party support is not what's selling Switch's. Nor is power or Digital Foundry. You seem to suffer a complete lack of understanding of Nintendo's dominance. At best this new handheld will be a fourth tier option to play third party games (behind Playstation, Xbox, PC and probably even Stadia).

Enjoy the raging success of your Steambox portable. 🤭
Well, first of all, the Switch specs were/are pathetic, so when i or somebody else says that on-the-go gaming is shit, its because of sub 30fps and visuals from 2009. This is not it. This thing should perform well, and again, its not only a gaming system, its a pc. A pc has a lot of strengths.
Its guaranteed to be sold out. Scalpers or not (of course it will be scalped, come on) the demand will be huge for the simple fact that this is a mobile device, and mobile is what it is, massive.
@casey-wegner: And this, this is how a sheep melts😊I do feel your pain, tho. Not only is Nintendo offering you pathetic/lazy titles since late 2018, but its not changing in the near future and its permanently full price. Games will be so cheap on the deck because of cdkeys alone. God damn the deck is dumpstering the Switch to the moon LOL
@hardwenzen: Games are cheap on my phone cause of Keys also. Hasn’t stopped Switch yet. I can’t buy Pokémon with a PC key. So it’s another failed attempt.
And you talk about Switch outdated? Well at least it has an Oled screen. This device isn’t even out and it’s outdated. Who the heck releases an LCD screen at launch in 2021?
