Literally .05% of Switch owners even know what DF is and comparison sites have been pitting full blown consoles against the Switch and calling it underpowered for years.

Nobody cares.

The hardly-core have been screaming and crying the entire time Nintendo has been bludgeoning their beloved brand names and not a single care is given. Nobody outside the basement community even knows what Steam is, they think it's something that comes with a hot shower, something the basement community surely dreads.

nintendo only innovates when they have some competition. I might just buy a deck myself, i mean the idea is pretty cool..sort of. When you consider you can already play these games on a laptop with the same specs for the same price, slightly less portable, the deck seems kind of redundant. If the deck adds an hdmi port, then you can even have a hybrid system like the switch.

Either way, i hope the deck does well.

This is the most legendary post i have seen on SW for over half a year. THIS is what a sheep considers as the strengths of a Switch. The level of insecurity the Sheep have is f***ing immense.

They were all over a Switch Pro when the rumour which where created by Nintendo fans came out, anyone with brain a brain knew there is no SOC that can deliver what was rumoured that would cost $299-349 that a Nintendo console will sell at, add on the fact that Nintendo likes to make profit on hardware sales it was never going to happen.

Switch has its exclusives and its sales... But its a POS and always was a POS when it came to hardware, the Steam Deck takes a dump all over the OLED Switch.

I will gladly pay a £100 more than a OLED Switch for a Steam Deck with a GPU 2-3 time the power of a Switch and considering I have a 100+ games on Steam, its a easy choice this Christmas.

Nintendo dropped the ball, didn't listen to the needs of its fanbase... We need more power, 30FPS low settings at 720p is not good enough for 2021!

F*** I would rather grab a Series S than a Switch OLED.

Honestly, if the Switch OLED was a 720p/60fps, I would get it over Steam Desk but between the prices of $350 vs $400 is really gonna put a sting over the OLED, its 3DS vs PS Vita all over again.

Look, I love my Switch since day one but its really meant for Nintendo's exclusives alone and at this point, I'm still playing SSBU & Animal Crossing: New Horizons but this year, there's nothing I see worth playing other than Metroid Dread. In my eyes, the Switch doesn't need a Pro, it's time for a next-gen Nintendo console to be announce now that Steam Desk is underway.

@Random_Matt: Cyberpunk is a mess anyway but Im sure they will. I won't and yeah FSR will help but its not needed really just play the games at 900-1080p lock it to 30FPS and you are golden, it has the power of a One S with a better CPU.

I am personally looking forward to just re-playing old Steam games in hand held... I have a 100+ games, Nintendo would charge me $60 per game to play on the Switch so I am saving like $6K.

I do agree that DF will no doubt be comparing Steam Desk vs Switch and to be frank, I can't blame them since XSX vs PS5 is getting nowhere these days. While Nintendo isn't trying to compete and they haven't since the good old days of GC, I actually wish they did come back at the very least but I'm okay they do their own thing.

It is a question i've been asking our fellow sheep that are bashing it. Turns out the Deck is bad because it doesn't have an NFC scanner, a IR reader and no adjustable stand. How dare they release a mobile device without a stand. RUIN RUIN RUIN!

Before that conclusion, we need to know how much the Deck costs to Valve. The Switch, tho, yea its overpriced af. Nintendo were already making a good lot (not exactly sure on the amount), but with the price increase of the OLED, they're making an additional $40 per system sold because the OLED costs them only an additional $10. As ive said it a million times, they're ripping their fans off just like Apple does.

@hardwenzen: sheep should be cheering... Its the switch design with many more games to play. It's a win for everyone.

It is especially a win because its competition, and competition does nothing else but indirectly improve your experience. Some just don't get it.

You know the reserve is $5/£4 right? No full payment till December. May as well get the best, plenty of months to realise that the price was easily within reach.

LOL funny, my daughter is telling me no, we both love our Switch so why buy it when we cannot play Nintendo games together? We both game on our Switch & PCs, plus I'm pro PC gamer anyway. That said, I'm gonna wait a year later how it all turns out. Valve recent Steambox was a total failure, so its hard to say if Valve will support it that long and not to mention I still have my PS Vita thus Sony stop supporting it.

@davillain-: This is powerful enough to emulate Switch. Unless you play online games, you don't need a Switch for anything (other than legally dumping games you own if you have a hackable one.

I'm aware of the emulation when it comes to Nintendo games and stuff like that but its the support long term is what I want to know if Valve is dedicated for years to come. Don't get me wrong, it sure does gives the Switch a run for its money indeed, I'll wait for reviews how it all turns out.

Taking into account recent hyped unsupported failures..

I'd buy a vita 2 if Sony announced it today. Reason being at the end of its life cycle it was arguably at its best... Cross buy games, and a massive legacy collection... They botched memory cards and unique exclusive games, but I'd be lying if I said I didn't game for 1000 hours on it.

You'd think a handheld running steam os would be an easy win for valve. They don't even have to make games for it... I'm willing to bet those gangbuster sales Nintendo is having isn't just kids wanting to play animal crossing. They're selling switch to a hungry audience of adult aged people who want their gaming on the go/in their hand.

There's not even competition from anyone outside Nintendo either. Steambox made sense on paper... A pc console! But it was lost between the wants of gamers. Pc people want the pc experience and console people want the console experience... Steambox didn't have an audience.

This though? How can it really fail?
