[QUOTE="Blackbond"]So what? I refuse to think that the SMS and TG-16/TD were terrible, what are you going to do about it?How is the N64 not? Is that even a serious question. For one thing it was actually around and had an impact. It just didn't fade away as soon as it arrived. While not the best console ever, nor the one with the best 3rd Party Support. I refuse to even think that the N64 was terrible.

I could also post a bunch of the great games the other consoles had so what? And you seriously care about popularity? do you think it was somehow better because it sold more? What's funny about the N64 is that even though it sold ok, that wasn't even enough for it to get more support. The Saturn in it's demise got 10x times the third party support than the N64. Almost all of those games you listed are by Nintendo/Rare.
Popularity lol. You act as if a lot of those games were even popular. The N64 in itself wasn't really all too popular compared to the Playstation unless you are counting Nintendo and RARE's big hitters.
So name and list your SMS and TG-16 games.
[QUOTE="Blackbond"]Well I don't live in the East lol.

To my eyes the SEGA Saturn was a testament to traditional gaming.
Back when companies were going for 3D, CG, movie-like gameplay, etc. The Saturn stuck to the old way of gaming and expanded on it solely to the hardcore.
The System pushed 2D Gaming to the Limit at the Time
(This was a launch game)
The console pushed 2D Gaming's gameplay and evolved it.
(DragonForce a game so good it's on Gamespot's "Hall of Fame Game's List or Whatever it's Called" and blended RPG with RTS along with other elements)
The system also appealed widly to the arcade gamer, thus the system had a RAM expansion (or something similar) to increase the systems power and resolution so that games that were literally arcade perfect.
Street Fighter vs. Xmen (on bottom) was the game to premier this, people were amazed how there was literally no slowdown. Street Fighter Alpha 3 (on top) to this day remains the most arcade perfect home console port, and yes that is including the PS2 version.....so what does that tell you.
The Saturn was, no is light years ahead of anything on the market. The SEGA Saturn provided the perfect experience of what it was emulating and did it with a sole point. Can you say this with the PS3 and Xbox 360? Can they match the PC? They fail in every aspect imaginiable. Compared to PC's they have gimped online, low resolution, clunkyer controls, and just over-all inferior ports, while dumbing down the PC's games. Not only that but their additions are just worthless, why do I need a bigger hard-drive? Why does it matter if it goes in higher resolution if it still can't match with what I want it to match? The Saturn didn't joke around it matched what it was trying to acheive, can't say that about the other two platforms.
2D Games are another thing. The Saturn evolved 2D games by not just make bigger worlds or better graphics, but changing their gameplay. DragonForce, Princess Crown, Grandia, Guardian Heroes, etc. all these games evolved the genres they are currently in. Do any 2D games do that now? I mean the only game that truly has done that as of late was the recently release Aquaria
(that everyone needs to buy now)
Most 2D Games are nothing but rehases. The Nintendo DS is currently King in the gaming market but most games on it that are 2D are rehashes of SNES games with low production values. Xbox Live Arcade and PSN has low down arcade games that feel more like downloaded flash games. The Saturn on the other hand has 2D games that are superior to pretty much any games on these platforms.
So it's like I said before, in the West the Saturn was pathetic, in Japan it was amazing.
Yeah I've always wanted to pick up a Saturn and grab some of the great games on it. Sega should have had that gen won. With Nintendo going down hill and sticking with Cartridges and Sony being the new comer with the Playstation Sega should have been poised to dominate the generation.
[QUOTE="Panzer_Zwei"]Well, all those systems lived a full life didn't they? They kept releasing HuCards and Super CD-ROMS even as far as 1995, and the world is not only about the states. It's understandable that it's important for you, but it doesn't mean much for me or for the Japanese really, they aren't our regions. (and you shouldn't be limitated by regions in the first place)
But to save us some grief in here, lets leave the SMS and TG-16 on the terrible level as you put them originally, but lets add the N64 how's that?
Because the question back at you, if the SMS and TG-16 were terrible, how's the N64 not?
Gunraidan
Because the N64 had better games then both those platforms even when you include their Japan only releases (at least in my eyes)?
Yeah right, well my eyes see different. But it's not like I was ever expecting to find love for those kind of systems in here.
[QUOTE="LINKloco"]Opinions, opinions......numba1234Eh. I'm probably the minority, but the only reason I'm keeping the wii is because of Supe Smash Brothers Brawl. And I feel like it is going to suck on a wii controller.
Ok TO ALL FANBOYS. When you say something thats your OPPINION say IMO don't state it like a fact.meetroid8Duh it isn't like I'm stating it as a fact, I'm stating my opinion as thought out as possible. I play alot of videogames, and am disappointed with the wii. And don't even state that system wars isn't a place to state your opinion, that is basically the only reason I'm here. Look at every topic, at every review, and at every article, it is written with opinions. I could write a blank statement by statnig that in this game you are a marine and shoot stuff, but when you use words like boring, dull, has few good games, it is obviously opinions.
The difference between my opinion and other opinions about the wii, is that I obviously own it, and don't state an uneducated opinion.

Yes but when someone (which almost always happens) says something they say it like it was a fact. Like If I say Halo is the worst game ever made or In my oppinion Halo is the worst game ever made whats going to be bigger flame bate?

I don't know why you would. Those two consoles are frequently on lists of worst consoles of all time. They were commerical failures and failed to match up against the competition at the time. Thus they were discontinued early.

Tsk, tsk blackbond. I know better than to keep pushing this pointless conversation further. When I know perfectly that it's going to be me against the world, as always.I know that here is no place to have this kind of discussion when even you wouldn't know half the games I would mention. (and you talking to me about popularity) These boards are mean for the popular systems, that's what I don't have anything against it, because I understand. But carrying this anymore it's an exercise in futility, it's not like people are going to change their minds and go and run to play those old games, so I don't see why even bother. Besides, I'm not trying to change minds, I know I can't anyway, like you're gonna acknowledge those games are better than yours or vice-versa.
So why bother?
I like my Wii but I was stunned when I got it home and discovered it did not support dolby digital sound. That to me is the worst thing about the wii, the sound.
It deffinatly gets a free ride becouse of its controler. I really love the wii controler but I was expecting more actual motion controle. Most games are still 75% button pressing. Zelda TP is a great game on the Wii but its motion control is really lame.
I look forward to the day when nintendo joins the current generation as far as tech goes.
[QUOTE="Panzer_Zwei"]Yeah right, well my eyes see different.

And mess a chance to go against blackbond? I haven't been here for a while you know. :PThat's the difference between you and me pal. ;)I don't know why you would. You can't see beyond that.

Agreed. SEGA was amazing during the days of the Saturn, and also but to a lesser extent during the Dreamcast era.
Sad that the only console that truly succeeded commercial wise (excluding the SMS in Europe) was by far and wide their worse of their 3 talked about in my eyes (refering to the Mega-Drive).

WTF, who are you to call a fanboy just because someone has a different opinion than your own? Why don't you say IMO at the end of every one of your posts? What makes you think anyone cares what you have to say either?

Ok, every time you say something biased towards or pro-Wii then make sure you let everyone know its just your little opinion too please. I could call you a fanboy just as easily, if you wanna play that game.

Panzer there have been plenty of times where I've gone back to play old games just because YOU mentioned them. There have been plenty of times that you have either
But not once. Never has there been one instance the other way around with you. I'm not gonna lie but you are definately one of the more stubborn posters here on these boards. Not only that but you never ever give Nintendo any kind of credit what so ever. I don't think I've ever even heard you compliment or acknowledge any individual effort from them.
Well, I have mentioned several times that the DS is the best handheld ever made...
But I don't think my credit is needed, they get more than enough, but if I don't put up the back pressure for the other systems who will? :P

Every console made by Sega besides the Genesis was a commerical failure. I mean it can't be coincidence that this same event happened over and over and over.
While I like Sega and Sega games their games appeal like Nintendo's have dropped over the years. Its also no coincidence that the N64 and Gamecube didn't do well relitive to the competition as well.
