How do you figure? They say they're just taking out the repetitive "kill x monsters" quests, which may or may not be a good thing, however, all mainstream games seem to be following this "streamlining" trend. It's not a confirmation either way.rpgs_shall_rule

'But what about a console version' I hear you cry. Well, the news is definitely good, despite the depressing failure of the original version to make it to the 360 or PS3. "It's the first console project we would like to do," Bartkowicz confirms. "We need to do it in house. In the end we decided not to do it outsourced. We've been running some tests, and putting a small part of the game just to make sure we're not cheating anyone. We can show it to you, it is possible." Sadly, we ran out of time to see it for our own eyes, but the fact that CD Projekt is happy to go on the record and say that it's happening is good news. In fact, the game's eventual transition to console has been planned from day one. "You can playThe Witcher 2with joypad - it's implemented. The whole interface is designed with console in mind, in fact."

Well, it's official. The game will be ruined.

Sorry about that. :PNext-gen consoles haven't even been announced. It makes more sense to cash in on current gen consoles.I wonder how ugly the game is going to look on consoles.
The minimum requirements to run it on PC are 3-4 times the power of a console.
It would be better if they bring it out for next gen consoles.

I hope they keep the alchemy parts.
It was cool having to find the right ingredients to make a potion.
Some potions became a necessity too.
The open world nature of The Witcher 2 makes me think it will not look that well on consoles.
large scale games usually don't look good on consoles because of their outdated hardware and low vRAM and RAM.
Next-gen consoles haven't even been announced. It makes more sense to cash in on current gen consoles.
dc337
Yah but I can already imagine console gamers saying the game looks like crap because of the hardware it has to run on.
Remember those buildings in the Crysis 2 multiplayer level?
Well that is how The Witcher 2 will probably be on consoles since its a large scale game.
And your picture?:) Canging it as I type.[QUOTE="millerlight89"]Welp, I will be canceling my preorder. rangegear

As long as it's a port of the PC version then I couldn't care less. Once the PC version is done the console versions won't affect it I'll be queueing up at midnight on May 17th to get my hands on this. My most anticipated game this gen. Bring it owwwwwwn[QUOTE="millerlight89"][QUOTE="rangegear"]And your picture?:)

IDC what they do, I think I have had all I can stand with PC gaming. This isn't really confirming anything more than we've known for months, that they want to at some point do a console version if it's possible without ruining it and it probably wont be possible with some of the features this game supports. They also promissed not to try to work on a console version until after the PC version is done and released.

I basically agree, but ... once the door of consolization is open you have maybe 1 more game before you're toast. Only CoD can repeatedly 'win' on consoles.
Witcher 2 is dead. "designed for consoles" WTF - you made this a PC game and before its even out you admit its going to suck on PC?

GeneralShowzerBut it was designed with consoles in mind... That must have affected the PC version somehow. No they designed it so you can also play it with a controller if you want but with the kb/m focus. Lets compare it to a game like Borderlands. Borderlands was designed with the controller in mind first making it a tad bit clunky on the pc but still playable. Now the Witcher is doing the opposite, making it tailored for the kb/m but still playable with a controller if you so choose.
I think you guys need to learn to not believe everything you see instantly. Of course they're going to say it was designed to work on consoles, what're they going to say? "No, this game would be **** on consoles. There's no way we want the consolites' money." Everything I have seen of the game, first and foremost the graphics, looks PC-specific. If it does come to consoles, it'll be a Crysis 2 styIe not-nearly-as-good-as-the-PC-version game.

Cd Projekt is designing it with higher end PC's in mind, but if they can at some point later make a console version that doesn't look like ass... then they will. They aren't making a game with console limitations in mind.[QUOTE="millerlight89"] I didn'th tink it was funny, but ok. 55pt fonts - wont happen because unlike console ports this game is being designed to be viewed at like two feet away not ten feet, also I've seen it before.
clunky interface- I've seen the interface in a video and it looked like the previous one.

Moving to the consoles I believe. As someone who owns all the consoles and a gaming PC, I must say... you'll likely end up regretting it. I'd keep 'em for a bit, just in case. I've been a PC gamer all my life, and there was a period in time where I was stuck with only my PS3 and my Wii (between builds) and it, well, kind of sucks. Lot's of things you take for granted on PC aren't there on consoles, and when things don't work, you can't just fix them like you can with a PC.
Consoles are still totally worth owning though, and they're a nice way to balance out PC gaming. I use mine strictly for exclusives and playing with my buds, and I've gotten great value for my money doing this. Seeing your posts though, I'd say you should wait until you have enough money to purchase a console outright, as opposed to selling off parts of your PC to buy them.

Open world nature? Are you kidding me? You're forced to go through story chapters and the areas are not that large. I agree with you for once, there is nothing "open world" about Witcher other than going through small areas, just like Fable.[QUOTE="Hakkai007"]The open world nature of The Witcher 2 makes me think it will not look that well on consoles.dc337

Hahaha, OK. :P Just wanted to give him something to think about. I yearned for consoles in the past too, and while they're definitely a lot of fun, they're nothing I would replace a PC with. Much better to have either a PC, or both, not consoles alone.
