[QUOTE="Sniper-PIG"]You didn't think this one through...lets have a look: Achievements - Basically unlockables with a new name and look. Wireless controller standard - This is innovative how? LOL Guide button - basically a start button with features, seen on the PSP b4 the 360 debuted. Detachable HDD - how is this innovative...consoles have had detachable units for years. warranty - NO, just NO...used only to mask the real issue and keep lawsuits out. Problem still lingers. Best controller - Its a dreamcast/cube controller thrown in one...nothing innovative..SORRY and besides...OPINION. Natal - isn't even OUT! haha Netflix - who cares. Xbox live - might give you this one. And yeah Sony is catching up, considering the 360 basically became the PS3 with its addons of HDMI, bigger HDD, HD-DVD, 1080p resolution. HAHA i'm done. :)AHUGECAT
Achievements - Basically unlockables that add to gamerscore and are very addicting
Wireless controller standard - no other system has had a wireless controller be standard
Guide button - a start button? LOL... it's NOTHNG like a start button and the PSP is a handheld machine. If the PSP innovated it then why is Sony's "guide button" a direct rip off of MS' guide button? That's right - MS innovated it
Detachable hard drive - the PS2 never came with a hard drive
Warranty - yes, just YES. When Sony's PS2's got DRE like crazy Sony said "HAHA! LOL @ YOU GUYS! NOW BUY ANOTHER PS2 SO WE CAN REACH 140 MILLION!" And the RROD is almost non-existant in new consoles
Best controller - yes, it is a dc/cube controller and it made it the best
NATAL - doesn't need to be out... already super innovative
Netflix - who cares? Tons of people do
HDMI, meh. Bigger HDD? That's not an innovation. HD DVD was for movies and not for games, and MS didn't even care about it all that much.
Achievements came first, I'll give MS that much. However, trophies are better. Unlike simply accumulating a number like achievements, trophies have different levels and they give you a bigger since of accomplishment. If you have a platinum trophy, people will know you're hardcore cause you have to get all the other trophies to get one. If you have a large gamerscore, people have no way of knowing if you completed games 100 percent, or if you just half-assed acollection of 100+ games unless they throughly check your achievements list. Trophies>>Achievements.
I believe the PSP was the first gaming device with a guide button, so obviously Sony was gonna put it in it's home console Or did you think Sony stole that from MS.
For FPS games, yes. For everything else, keep dreaming.
Is this a joke topic?
goblaa
I think it's a throwback to the cousin era of SW's, but it's funny watching people still feeding TC...

sony never gave a warrenty, they just fixed it.no matter how long u had the system for, and that still was never a good thing. when u pay 300 plus for so,ething it should never break, its 2009,
MizFitAwesome
Which fully explains why they lost a lawsuit over it. Got snymore delusions?
hows ur rrod exclusive this gen? how many times have u gottin it. or r u just one of the few people who never got it ever, oh yea sure. rolls eyes[QUOTE="MizFitAwesome"][QUOTE="Liquid_DC"]

Too bad you can't change the fact that Sony lost a lawsuit for passing off faulty equipment 5 years after launch....
Innovative if you keep your head in the sand & ignore the competition completely, then yes extremely. Other innovations you did not include are... the lack of bluetooth technology (trust me you'd miss it if you knew)/lack of a web browser making twitter and facebook etc. extremely innovative additions/breakyest console in the history of gaming/adoption of rival consoles avatars and motion tech for extreme innovation to the max/support of last gen media format to insure innovation/innovatively leaving out wifi support, and oh yeah - the guide button.
A few console innovations because of the Xbox 360:
- Achievements. Gaming without achievements is no longer the same.
- Wireless controller standard
- Guide button
- Detachable hard drive
- Free three year warranty
- RTS, WRPGs and FPS that actually work on a console (incredible)
- Best controller ever
- Project Natal.... best non-controller ever
- Xbox Live Arcade
- Netflix
- Xbox Live Primetime (ie 1vs100)
- NXE
- XNA
and so much more
Sony keeps trying to catch up but just looks a poor imitation (their triggers for their DS3 are garbage compared to 360's, PSN is a joke compared to LIVE, Resistance and Killzone 2 are nothing compared to Gears/Halo 3, trophies aren't as good as achievements, etc. etc.).A lot of people like the SNES and PS2... but those weren't really innovative consoles. PS2 especially. PS2 was so outdated it even only included 2 controller ports AND had no ethernet/hard drive!
AHUGECAT
the sad part is that tc truly believes the above...
Free three year warrantyAHUGECATis sig worthy :D lawsuit moar like lawlsuits
You remind me of a certain other hardcore lemming that used to lurk in SW ;) Anyway I had a good laugh, you're MS check has been mailed.
wait which of the two companies made a console for gaming first....:o ohh thats right. The PS3 really is a wannabe Xbox 360.

The TC made some good points and its normal for people to make fun and laugh over it..Thats fine its your opinions...I feel MS has taken online gaming and downloadable content to the next level for console gaming. NO DOUBT in my mind.
BUT...To me the most innovative would be the SegaDreamCast..It was full of surprises from day one and its too bad Sega just never could win over the masses
- Achievements. Gaming without achievements is no longer the same.
AHUGECAT
I'm guessing your 12 and have never played a game without achievements. Those and trophies are not even necessary by all means. Games didn't have them before this gen and they still are amazing.
You guys are still at this? Jeez. It's already 9:30 AM here.siLVURcrossso you are on east coast in america as well? but honestly. this is the best representation of where people actually stand. we get to see the cows and lemmings come out of the woodwork
A lot of people are saying the wii is innovative - but HOW? The Wiimote is only good for "non-games" like Cooking Mama, Surgeon Center or whatever.... it's NOT good for regular games which is why it has such poor third party support. Everything MS has done has pushed gaming forward like never before.
AHUGECAT
*looks at your sig* oh i see!
Free three year warrantyAHUGECATis sig worthy :D Is RROD considered innovative? No I mean really - it used to be when a console broke, it just broke. Now you have RROD, E74, and a bunch of other error codes. It's still broken, but you have the "comfort" of an error code.
I was going to say the 360 is only behind the DC as far as most innovative right outta the box at launch so yes, you have it pretty much correct - Nice. :)The TC made some good points and its normal for people to make fun and laugh over it..Thats fine its your opinions...I feel MS has taken online gaming and downloadable content to the next level for console gaming. its so fun when your xbox rrod's and you wait for 2 weeks to get a new one for FREE!!! ...even though it should of never been sent in. faulty machine. go buy a honda that does drives 40miles only then it breaks, but dont worry they fix it for free. would you get it? no. lol ps3 > 360 you're just scared ps3 slim will outshine xbox in every way possiblefifamessi
I love it how you parody the tc's sig.

It has some neat innovations, but it is by no means the most innovative system ever.

I still don't get achievements. I don't need a little numbre after my name to have fun with games. BuryMethey're pretty fun

NATAL - doesn't need to be out... already super innovative
LordQuorthon
This is probably the dumbest thing I've read here... And this is System Wars. If it's not the absolute number one, at least it's up there with "PC can't do HD", "Metroid is a robot" and "Einstein and Hitler lived in different time periods".
Somebody give this kid a trophy... I mean, an achievement!
And let's not forget "Nintendo doesn't make games fool."I still want to see what's so innovative about Natal that doesn't also apply to the Wiimote. It's just a motion "controller."
Of all time? Honestly, I don't know what has to be done to get that title.
However, I agree that the Xbox 360 is innovative, but for slightly different, but related, reasons.
The 360 has redefined what it means to be online. Online is no longer just about being in a multiplayer match. It's about connecting to a larger, more cohesive community. How does that community stay cohesive? It uses a laundry list of features that are not only useful, but fully integrated into the system. They provide ways of interacting with the community outside of the console and has an active community staff.
For me, this is where the 360 really innovates.
Just finished reading the 20 pages and all I can say is... AHUGECAT for prez!MonsieurX
Sorry, but GCousin or Xcousin used to be able to drag a thread like this for over 600+ responses.
What I like is how TC is supposed to be a fanboy, even though you can look up his trophy history to see he actually played every game, yet the cows still expect us to beleive all of their stories about how they and everyone of their friends, neighbors and relatives are on their 3 or 4 360. Some of TC's PS3 are low, but at least he played them.
BTW, how come the cows have refused to answer my question, why is it that the GTA IV GS score of 10 too high, but the MGS4 10 legit?

I see no infamous or KZ2 trophies. I call BS. Also he jsut played 2 levels of LBP it seems. How do you review a game you didint even halfway beat.
I'll just pick out one of your flaws for now. If I was to respond to all of them I would've written a war and peace. You say, "Project Natal.... best non controller ever." Really? So you've played it?A few console innovations because of the Xbox 360:

Its call competition get over it. Companies see what their consumers want and most of the time they give it. Since alot of people wanted 360 features they got most of it. I really wanna dropkick people who dont understand this simple concept.
Edit: I'm not reading 20 pages worth of comments, so I'm coming in cold to this one...
If by "innovative" you mean "faulty", then yeah, the 360 would be the most innovative console of all-time.
Also note-worthy would be MS' "innovative", almost politician-like side-skirting of a full product recall in favour of an extra year on the warranty.
