i hope you guessed right, coz the game is uniqe and one of its kind this generation. Here are some pics:

Name: Heavy Rain

Dev.: Q. Dreams

Genre: interactive Drama

That's right folks, one of its kind, a whole genre exclusive to the PS3 this generation, the game defines and refines story telling with an emotional, immersive story that withdraws you in it from start to end. the game let's you control 4 characters in persue of the Origami killer. The game has multiple endings to encourage you to replay it again with each decision can lead to different consequences.

The game initially was thought to be a flop and a huge failure, but it was a surprise, it should be the surprise of the year imo. The game was met was universal acclaim and praise, the QTEs and the uniqe control scheme didn't prevent the game from being one of the best titles this year. The game scored AAE here on GS with AA/AAA scored from almost all major sites. the game also was a commercial success exceeding 1 million copy in sales ( initial expectaions were less than 300 k).

You can find alot more about the game in http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Heavy_Rain

So lemmings, wanna congratulate Cows or bash the game ?? it's ur choice :D .

Edit: i put some key words in Red to be more persice.

Edit2: The game isn't 100%, i never said that, but it's one of its kind considering how good it was handled and being different enough that anything else in the same genre, the game has got the unique emblem in the review btw.

Edit3: i put "this generation" coz the competition is between the PS3, x360,Wii and PC, i have alot of preservation on putting the PC in cometition but some posters will put it nomatter what and they will bring PC game no matter what.

I would not say one of its kind because their last game Indigo Prophecy or Fahrenheit had a very simular style.

I was about to respond Indigo Prophecy as well. I'm going through it right now on my PC... played a demo of it on Xbox and I always wanted to finish it. I got it on Steam for a steal.

Just started gaming this gen huh? The Adventure genre isn't a exclusive genre to the PS3. PC has countless number of Adventure games (including interactive movies). If I recall the Wii,DS and PSP also has some Adventure games especially visual novels.

I liked it, it was good fun and well produced, but the script and voice acting were terrible in places. It's an interactive B-movie at best.

you'd love it if you saw that as a review in a magazine haha.

But at least you aren't going "HOW COULD YOU SAY THAT meh meh". I put it so low due to the fact that it actually didn't do what it said it would. All games that say their are endless possibilities and stuff just don't cut it. Even saying you "make the story"...well no you don't. They should have literally had thousands and millions of different triggers throughout the game that changed. An example of this would be that say you don't give a homeless guy some change....later in the game he attacks you ONLY IF you choose to take the same road home or something. Yes it would be hard to do and pull off but with technology now it could be done..

The DS has the monopoly on that genre this gen, there is even a csi game on the wii which looks like it may be similar, I wouldn't know because I wouldn't touch it with a 10 foot barge pole but still...

except that wolfenstien was not the first FPS "The first person shooter has since been traced as far back as Maze War, development of which began in 1973, and 1974's Spasim. 1987's MIDI Maze for the Atari ST was one of the first network multiplayer action games and also saw release on game consoles." http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/First-person_shooter and there was also a game called catch 22 on the spectrum/commodore/amstrad that was a first person shoote, all wolfenstien did was popularise the genre

It makes more sense than Heavy Rain. Sure it is a campaign slogan, but it describes LBP 2 better than calling it a platformer. LBP 1 was a platformer. All the levels were based around platforming. You had a few unique ones, like the calculator level, or some puzzle things (or the less unique and flooded racing levels). But they were just some small things. A lot of times incomplete. But LBP 2, from what the devs say, you can connect levels creating games, you can create genres outside of platformers like racers, RTS', FPS', arcade shooters, and maybe more. From what has been seen, they look really good too, and not just some incomplete design. We may have to wait until release, but I believe it will be amazing, and something new! I can't wait to play LBP2 Ultimate Robot Fighting Ninjas in Space:P Maybe I can make it:o

"interactive action adventure where your actions affect the outcome" that sounds like heavy rain, and Fable 2 and many other games we have seen THIS GEN.

i am not bashing the game, i am bashing your claim that it is the only game in that genre to be released this gen, it's a moot point, as according to GS both monkey island and heavy rain fall into the same genre, which is 'adventure', if i wanted to bash the game i would just say it isn't my kind of game, GS stated it was a great game, i am prepeared to go with that,it's just not my cup of tea and it certainly isn't anything we have not seen before

i believe interactive darama suits the game better, GS genre classification is the worst ever, games like: Bionic Commando , Africa, transformers are all classified adventure just like HR :?, so let's just ignore GS on this. Can you apply Interactive Drama for any game this generation ?? it's as simple as that. For the record, the game got the unique emblem in the review section, i dun know how many games got it but i am sure not alot.

[QUOTE="omho88"][QUOTE="delta3074"][QUOTE="omho88"] i see, now i understand who you are exactly. you choose to bash the game. at least be subjective when you bash it. Fair enough:) .

i am not bashing the game, i am bashing your claim that it is the only game in that genre to be released this gen, it's a moot point, as according to GS both monkey island and heavy rain fall into the same genre, which is 'adventure', if i wanted to bash the game i would just say it isn't my kind of game, GS stated it was a great game, i am prepeared to go with that,it's just not my cup of tea and it certainly isn't anything we have not seen before

yes, it has achieved something unique, and it redefines the genre, but there are other games released this gen that fall into the same genre, and gs genre classification is perfect, you could technically put every game ever created into the 'adventure' genre, stop discounting GS does because it doesn't suit your personal agenda.

Twolast Qs: How come Africa and HR ( both games dun have a single thing in common) put under the same genre ? The GS genre classification is flawed. you say it's perfect coz it helps you to disregard HR as a unique game.

I want you to mention the closest game to HR this generation ? Just to make sure if really watched or played the game.

An adventure game with quick-time events isn't exactly a new genre. Though it would be great if they released it on the 360 :p

The "genre" is not exclusive to the PS3. Not to mention the countless of PC indie point and click games.

Adventure games are exclusives on PS3? Call me crazy but i was playing the Path on my Pc just now In fact adventure games ( not the action adventure games like U2 ) are more prevalent on Pc
