I see. I guess this would be more useful to newer users
[QUOTE="CaseyWegner"]
did you miss the mass effect 2 thread?
Sky-
I saw it, and it brought the lulz. While the allegations about Mass Effect 2's exclusiveness were ultimately untrue, SW needs some mayhem to disrupt the monotony once in a while. Real estate in the SW stickies is expensive and in limited supply, and I think this space could be better used to include something more pertinent to SW, like the Metroid Other M Hype Thread.
I agree. I think the thread is a good one but most of the points made by Casey should be general knowledge in SW. Maybe the thread should be up for a couple of days to give a chance for those who don't know to read it but otherwise, there is better use for the space since Other M comes out on the 31st.Some people are just too" PC " these days..
Politically correct. :P
Anyway, good post and you've been saying it for years but it's good to see it as a sticky.
Was this thread made in response to the mass effect 2(ps3) thread?

that and a general trend that's been developing.
So basically there's no point is SW anymore? Every argument will end with "PC is better" or "PC version is better"? Can we change the tile of this board to "Exclusive Wars" then? Because I don't see the point in "System Wars" if every argument will end the same way. :?xsubtownerxOf course there is argument. But you can't say, for example, the PS3 is graphics king, by excluding the PC. Or the 360 has the best library, when clearly doesn't. Just because your platform isn't winning in whatever category you want to discuss, doesn't mean you exclude other platforms until you're #1 and then claim victory. Its like excluding the Wii in sales, and claiming the 360 is leading or the PS3 has the most sales for the year, it makes no sense.
While we are on the topic of things System Wars people need to know, how about adding that North America = / = The World. I hate when people bring up NPD to claim ownage forgetting the world is larger than just the US.II_Seraphim_IIor that Japan =/= the rest of the world as I see in every reply to what you're talking about.
EDIT or for that matter in an NPD thread people coming in and saying NPD =/= world. Its an NPD thread for discussion of those results and not the unknown quantity in the rest of the world.

If we "have" to count the PC I don't see why we don't "have" to count worldwide in those discussions. It's the same exclusion to give something an advantage principle. This is all pointless if it's not part of the TOU anyway imo, good luck getting people- especially the "low levels"- to follow optional rules.[QUOTE="xsubtownerx"]So basically there's no point is SW anymore? Don't get everyone's beef with the term console exclusive. It's just another way of saying, "the 360 has this game but PS3 and Wii don't, hence 360 has an advantage HA" (it can be vice versa as well). Console exclusive is just a term used because it's short and it'smeaning is understood. Is there really a problem with that? A guess now we have to say that ME2 used to be a "Console unshared game":? Some of this seems a bit silly IMO.

becauuse it leaves out the pc.
So if the PC is being left out, then maybe the discussion in question wasn't meant to have the PC in it? What is the problem in that? The PC, and every other system for that matter, shouldn't be a system thathasto be a system that you include, it should be a system that youhave the option to include. My main point is: Not all discussions should have to include all systems. People leave out systems all the time, and no one seems to care most of the time. Handhelds are left out all the time for example. If people only want to compare certain systems they should be able to as long as they realize how a system fares in a 1v1 match won't reflect how it does over all when everything is included.
As an analogy people do not compare every car in existence with one another at the same time. Not every cell phone is compared with each other at the same time. Two TV shows often get compared to one another, instead of comparing every show in existence.
If threads were only limited to including all platforms, then 95% of the threads here don't belong, andall future threads would be incredibly predictable. Not all discussions should have to include all systems. If you actually go through with trying to make this an real rule you'll only be hurting the activity of this board, and in return GameSpot itself.
(@Casey: Like I said before console exclusives aren't actually exclusive, everyone just uses that term because it is the easiest way of explaining things.)

Not all discussions have to include everything, no one said you can't have a direct PS3 vs 360 thread.[QUOTE="carlisledavid79"]Can we exclude sales talk from this forum as well. To be honest what's the benefit in talking sales anyway ?ActicEdge

True that. It doesn't need to be ww figures though, I mean a nerdrage virtually erupts when JP is brought into NPD or UK threads & vice versa.
Anyhoo this is getting off topic. This thread still won't change much.
they are only banning the term "console exclusive" (it doesn't really make any sense at all the term) X system vs Y system is still allowed, to compare its respectives librariesGiancar
Oh, I misunderstood his answer then:oops:, but I still think console exclusiveshould be used because it's the best term that we've got around here for itas far as I've seen.

@blue_hazy_basic, the Japanese (Media Create) and European sales numbers, unlike the NPD data, are weekly.
