[QUOTE="deangallop"] You sir need to learn the correct uses of the word exclusive then, because something can be exclusive to two different things. deangallop

there is nothing wrong with my definition.

and there is nothing wrong with calling something "PC/360 exclusive" either.

aside from it being improper...i suppose not.

because they're both similar gaming systems and this isn't company wars.

CaseyWegner

Then I don't understand why the PS3, Wii and 360 aren't just considered consoles. You said it yourself this isn't company wars. So this forum should be about PCs vs Consoles.

There is nothing improper about it, it's on PC and 360 and not on the rest of the consoles therefor it's exclusive to those consoles.

Every time this argument comes up I post this picture. But people always want to ignore what is fact. Exclusive can mean more than one as long as something is excluded.

No, an exclusive club is one group. 360 and PC or Ps3 and 360 are not one group. They are separate.

Don't even try that. If Left 4 Dead 2 is exclusive to the 360 and PC, then Madden is exclusive to everything. Or Modern Warfare 2 is exclusive to the PC, 360, and PS3. In fact, putting it that way, everything is an exclusive.

Umm yes. A multiplat is what it is. More than 1 platform. Doesn't mean that something can't be exclusive to 2 parties if more than 2 parties exist.

L4D2 is both multiplat and exclusive. It's on multiple platforms but it's exclusive to those platforms becuae it's not on any other gaming machine. I'm trying to put the emphasis on exclusive because too often these games that are not on every platform are often disregarded in exclusive agruments, but the fact is that they are exclusive.

No, an exclusive club would be PC gamers or 360 gamers. It's not exactly an exclusive club if there's more than one.

At the end of the day, yes it can be exclusive to the consoles. However due to the fact that we include the PC as an equal, we count it as any game on more than one system (even on PC/console) as being exclusive to that particular system. There is more than one way to use the word, admins/mods obviously chose the one more fitting to the "competition" of System Wars.

You fight to no avail my friend.. This (IMHO) is simply a ploy to include the PC into conversations that it has no place in. If I'm talking about the PS3 vs 360 or 360 vs Wii or Wii Vs PS3 I shouldn't have to mention the PC. But it's quite alright for PC elitists to call console gamers poor and Dell users (Which I thought was a violation of the TOU). Or to use the term Console Graphics King when that blatantly excludes the PC. I still think it's wrong to exclude a term that's used industry wide, but apparently the mods have spoken. :|

789shadow
Multiplat = Multiple Platforms. FYI, MAC OS is a platform, as is Windows or Linux. There's a lot of irony in being able to call something a "PC exclusive" but Bayonetta or Red dead Redemption can't be called a console exclusive.

[QUOTE="deangallop"][QUOTE="Chutebox"] No, an exclusive club is one group. 360 and PC or Ps3 and 360 are not one group. They are separate.Chutebox

Xbox 360 and PC are part of an exclusive club that can play L4D2.

No, an exclusive club would be PC gamers or 360 gamers. It's not exactly an exclusive club if there's more than one.

It's an exclusive club if only certain people are allowed in. Have you ever even heard of an exclusive nightclub? You're making it sound like an exclusive club means that there is only 1 in existence.

So, for the purposes of System Wars, does such a thing as a multiplat exist?

xsubtownerx

Multiplat = Multiple Platforms. FYI, MAC OS is a platform, as is Windows or Linux. There's a lot of irony in being able to call something a "PC exclusive" but Bayonetta or Red dead Redemption can't be called a console exclusive.

A computing platform is software and hardware working to run other software. The OS on its own is not a platform.

Don't even try that. If Left 4 Dead 2 is exclusive to the 360 and PC, then Madden is exclusive to everything. Or Modern Warfare 2 is exclusive to the PC, 360, and PS3. In fact, putting it that way, everything is an exclusive.

I think almost everyone is agreed on that.

Say you're just comparing 360 to Ps3 library, go ahead and include 360/PC games. Just don't call them exclusive.

The way I see it, it's just the fanboys who try and discredit those games but they're wrong.

Now if you're comparing exclusives for the two systems, that's another story.

K, so MW2 is exclusive to Wii, PC, Ps3, and 360. Gotcha.... Most people here just like to twist the term to help them it seems.

L4D2 is limited to objects designated: the Xbox 360 and PC.

L4D2 is shut out from others it's not on PS3 or Wii.

deangallop

You missed the point where I said admins/mods decided upon the most fitting for the System Wars metagame...

Exclusive can be limited to an object, as well as objects. In SW we limit to the singular, rather than the plural.

Tell that to every single game developer, then. The whole world must be wrong.

I'm just telling you what a computing platform is... Don't get so defensive.

There are different definitions for a lot of words, the most applicable is usually used. Just like with exclusives.

If your saying I can't include L4D2 in a 360 vs PS3 exclusives thread, then your part of the problem I'm trying to solve. L4D2 should be included when its a comparison between the two systems exclusives.
