Tommy Vercetti GTA V Protagonist

Well it's just an assumtion for now here what I think.

The guy talking in the trailer is Tommy.

Tommy Vercetti continued to run the criminal underworld of Vice City until at least 1989-1992, although his relationship with Ken Rosenberg became increasingly strained due to Rosenberg's cocaine addiction. Tommy eventually sends Ken into rehab at the Fort Carson Medical Center in Fort Carson, San Andreas, later refusing to answer his telephone calls. He is one of the only GTA III-era protagonists who has not been established, or implied, as having been killed at some point after the game timeframe. In one Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas mission, a man with a strikingly similar appearance to Tommy Vercetti is briefly seen. He does not speak, and whether he actually was Tommy is not confirmed either way.

i will have to go back and watch the trailer though it seems to me it would be pretty obvious to hear if it is ray liottia(or however you spell it) if it is him.

I think it is a reasonable guess but for all the wrong reasons. There is no indication that the picture you have from the trailer is anything more than a background extra like most of the clips they show.

What little we see of possible characters shows an older guy which would more likely be a modern Vercetti than that young fit dude you show.

I hope it's him.

I think the older fella is Tommy. He looks a lot like Ray Liotta.aaronmullan

it still didn't sound much like him though.

it was hard to tell though the east coast accent was not as strong as tommys old accent.

It's starting to look like all the surviving GTA protagonists have found their way to Los Santos. How badass would it be if we got to play as all of them? :shock:

I highly doubt they'll have a 50-60 year old protagonist in a GTA game.

I never thought that much of Tommy. He was ok, but he really pales in comparison to CJ and Niko. Yeah I know he's a "badass", but he just seemed to lack character and emotion compared to future GTA main characters. I found CJ and Niko much easier to relate to.

And here i had a slight ray of hope that this thread might have had info. from Rockstar that it's confirmed. Damn..

I don't think it's Tommy, each GTA starred a different character, don't see why they would change that tradition now.

They already have with the revisit to the game world in Liberty City, in a different time. Some people said the world in IV was life like. That's good enough for me to be it's own character.

I take it he found the fountain of youth.

30 years later yet looks younger.

You should realize that

A) That was a random jogger, not the main character (most likely), and

B) Tommy is 60 years old, so he isn't gonna look that good, and also

C) Rockstar is more or less toning down the continuity from previous generation GTA games, so while their adventures very well may have occurred in the new GTA universe, you aren't going to personally see any of them outside of public references on billboards, radio or TV.

If anything, I'd wager the guy if Frank West.

For one thing though we know is present day base on the cars and buildings, so Vercetti is probably a grandpa by now.

That guy looks old enough to be 50 - 60, further more we don't know nothing about the timeline of this next GTA. What if its set in 2001? Or '98. Who knows.

I don't think it is Tommy and I think it would be smarter if it wasn't Tommy. I've played him before, I know his story. It's time to experience someone else's.

Btw., did ya'll notice those plant fields in the trailer? Reminded me of those fields i burned in a mission in San Andreas.
