Would you guys consider Zelda Majora's Mask to be a good story? bbkkristianI wouldn't say the best but I did enjoy it. Probably one of the most interesting and darker stories in a Nintendo title.

[QUOTE="texasgoldrush"] Mass Effects dialogue is top notch, in fact, its dialgue in someplaces rival many movies. Good dialogue is important in storytelling because it makes the characters more believable and conveys the story far better. A huge reason why Thane is such a great character is becuase of his well written dialogue with Shepard. "Aren't we discussing game stories?" Great dialogue helps make the story great, jasonharris48
Wow, Mass Effect, the game where you choose the dialogue option, and Shepard decides to say something 50% different? And when you want to answer, and he makes a question instead? It's laughable.
The dialogues are mediocre, having choices doesn't change that fact, and the texts and scripts are also standard level.
I can't believe on I'm agreeing with Texas on any level lol. But the Mass Effect titles are two of the best Space Operas stories featured in a game and better than recent Space Operas in general. Now I'm not saying the writing is top notch and it's the best ever but it is pretty good.Is this any better than standard?
Be sincere.
EDIT: or this? it's been done a lot before. those are just examples...

In which Thane's dialogue is excellent. The character voices his memories, thats just part of his character and race. Bioware did an incredible job with the script and voice acting.[QUOTE="SambaLele"]

Now, Vagrant Story or Bioshock dialogues are some good examples of well written scripts.

I almost spit Tim Hortons coffee all over my laptop trying not to laugh.

The dialogue of ME2 is fantastic, it is definitely one of the game's strongest points. The conversation with Mordin after they discover the body of a female Krogan was brilliant, especially for Paragon players.[QUOTE="Kandlegoat"][QUOTE="texasgoldrush"] Mass Effects dialogue is top notch, in fact, its dialgue in someplaces rival many movies. texasgoldrush

The best silent story is Super Metroid...there is just something about that game and the mood it puts you in.
Also the first Ninja Gaiden had a mediocre storyline but it started this trend with the cutscenes and storytelling
Heavy Rain?
Heavy Rain has too many flaws in the story not to mention plot holes. It's a good game though. The best silent story is Super Metroid...there is just something about that game and the mood it puts you in.

Mass Effect 2's script is top notch, its easily one of the best in gaming. The dialogue can be quite poignant and meaningful to witty and silly. The game has a great sense of humor, especially with Legion (and for PC users, hack Legion into the game for more early game fun). Grunt, Kasumi, and Garrus can also be quite funny. Garrus really gets funny for FemSheps trying to romance him. Joker and EDI...lol. Then there is some stellar dialogue during darker moments...such as the conversation with Mordin about the dead Krogan female, or the end to Overlord, to the entire Tali loyalty mission (Jennifer Hale and Liz Sroka are especially amazing when their characters interact). The only time ME2 shows weakness in the script is if Shepard spams the Renegade option all the time. Jack can also get grating at times, maybe as a result of being far more foul mouthed than the rest of the cast. Other than this, the script of ME2 is excellent. As one of the most die-hard adventure gamers on GameSpot, I have to say, The Longest Journey is severely overrated. Yes, it's got a pretty original setting, yes, April Ryan isn't your typical protagonist, but everything else felt rather bloated. It was admirably 25 hours or so long, but a lot of that was filler. It could easily have been cut back a few hours.
Other adventure games have much better stories e.g Broken Sword: The Shadows of the Templars and The Gabriel Knight series come to mind.
The Gabriel Knight series was amazing. Gonna have to give props to the other Sierra games too. Quest for Glory, Leisure Suit Larry(before it was butchered), King's Quest, Space Quest, etc.As one of the most die-hard adventure gamers on GameSpot, I have to say, The Longest Journey is severely overrated.
