You dont know though because you havent played it have you? The fact is MGS4 on the settings that the TC posted looks better then Crysis sorry hermits. Does it look better then a pc running it on Very high? No it doesnt but no pc really runs it that well on very high while MGS4 is moving along at 60fps with very few framedips.

The textures on MGS4 look blurry as hell.

Also: take into account the size of Crysis, it's still better looking.

That was the Metal Gear online Beta. I cant remeber what it was downscaled to but it is not 720p and it does not look as good as the real game . But we are talking about MGS4 here not MGO. MGO is just a little fun side bonus they added.

From that 2006 build it does. Check out the IGN comparison they compare MGS4 back then to now. They even mention the textures as one of the most improved aspects. And believe me they look great there are flat ones here and there but most of them look outstanding. Trust me please go play the final product. There is a reason every websight has pretty much gave it a 10 in visuals and ranked it among the best looking games of this generation. IGN even said it was among the best on Console and pc. You need to actually play it first.

My PC cost $100 AUD more than a PS3 at the time.....

yes i do know. Try and build a PC as value for money as a PS3....and plz include blu-ray b/c PC play HD movies aswell.

It still looks blurry... the character models don't look as good...even on a mix of high/med settings without giong to max, crysis still looks better imo.

It can also be made to be a gaming PC, which its main priority is for gaming, and thats the beauty of PC gaming, customization.

Better graphics + configuration and control options (kb+m for FPS and RTS games for example, or a myriad of other options including the same console controllers), hardware customization, can build/upgrade the machine myself rather than buying a more boring/dull "shrink-wrapped" (would generic be taken less offensively?) machine in comparison, OS level access, tweaking, Steam, etc.

Not knocking consoles or people that prefer them, I own them as well. However, there's more enjoyment that some people get from gaming on the PC than only better graphics --- that would be an extremely limited perspective.

Crysis is a great game and it looks stunning and MGS4 is a stunning game that looks great... simple as.

Im running Crysis with:

Intel Core 2 Duo E4400 @ 2.67GHZ

BFG 8800GTS 320MB @ 574coreclock 1352shaderclock 902memclock

2GB Cruacial 6400 RAM @ 451 x 2 mhz (902mhz)

Running at 1280*1028 medium-high settings and get around 25-30fps average... dips to the low teens at times.

It still looks blurry... the character models don't look as good...even on a mix of high/med settings without giong to max, crysis still looks better imo.

Sorry but I can with a 8800 GTS .. with no AA 1680 x 1050, Very High Shaders/textures and it looks exactly like that ( bar some more distant jaggies ) at 25-30 FPS (Playable).

reailty: if crytek wanted to they could easily release this for 360 and PS3

it'd most definately need a slight downgrade, so wouldn't look like the shots we've seen from the high high end PCs

but it would still look great .. as good as Far Cry 2 probably

and with those graphics, and everything else intact, it'd make a great game that should sell a fair bit

I have the game and it does not run at 60fps.

I have a 8800GTX OC'ed with Qx6700@ 3.3GHZ... with 2gigs of 800MHZ@4-4-4-12. I play high 1680x1050 @+30fps... ill do a test wait up.

Edit:

I did the insane benchmark test tool and it gave me average of 32fps.

I don't know about exactly what they'll come up with for the next big step in graphics, but I know what you mean. I don't find that Crysis looks that much better than the best looking console games. Certainly not the "way better than anything on consoles" some people like to claim. For example, even if you have textures set to very high, there are plenty of bland, blurry textures around if you get up close, especially with rocks and leaves. Polygons are often very visible on rocks too.
