Just got the order and holy shit it's about two gens ahead of the trash X360 ports on PC.

When will Hermits learn that gaming on Windows is a joke? Even Microsoft doesn't take it seriously and it's their system.

Lol hermits. Still playing counterstrike and WoW...

I played The Order for an hour before I had to stop, I've been playing Counter-Strike for 14 years with over 10,000 hours invested and it looks like this... That just goes to show the importance of graphical fidelity...

@AM-Gamer: @AM-Gamer: Your another one that goes in my troll/child/moron bin. The order isn't technically impressive on any level, and from reviews it's not even held up by it's ability to tell a decent story. So I'll keep playing my games on pc, all 6700 and counting.

6,700 games? Do you have photos of this or something? Or are you just talking about the PC game library spanning over 6,700 titles?

There's so many great reasons to own consoles, and you guys choose The Order: 1886 to defend your viewpoints? You must be morons.

I have about 250 tittles spanning the last 10 years of releases and I have emulators that I use for ps2 emulation and all the other systems all the way back to pong, having in total around 6,700 games on my pc. I span all generations on this thing not just the current and it's a point console players seem far to often to forget.

Okay, well you need to state things as they actually are, you're bloating your PC library to make it appear as if you have more. My actual PC library exceeds 700 games, I'm not going to tack emulators onto that to push me up to the thousands, that's just not how it works.

But it is how it works. I have almost every major AAA game released since before the ps3. You can't ignore that, and act like it isn't a thing when it is. Yes I'll take out a few thousands for pure junk but I can also go out and download a few more thousand that aren't of genres I don't like. If exclusives are something console players care about I have the largest library of them all.

@ribstaylor1: Well if you listen to reviews they say it's technically one of the best looking games around. So it sounds like you have an agenda and only listen to what you wany to. When you are not mindless sheep you will learn to make your own opinion.

Using emulators on your PC does not count towards your PC library of games, hence you're EMULATING another platform entirely and attempting to count that towards what is effectively your PC game count. Those are not PC games, they are games for whatever system you're emulating, they do not run on the PC, they are emulated through a virtual console that functions on your PC...

How many actual PC games do you have, I doubt it's very many.

@Motokid6: Except it shot to number 1 on the charts and will most likely get a sequel. It was hardly a peace of shit. Will I play it a year from now? No but I rarely play any game for over a year unless I love the MP. A good sp experience is still nice to have.

@AM-Gamer: On consoles. They are not comparing the game to the abilities of high end rigs with 4k screens. I've never said it wasn't a good looking game. It isn't technically impressive when compared to what games are doing on my pc. It looks nice but it by no means is technically impressive for such a linear tittle with corridor set pieces all while using so many techniques to try to make it look better then it actually is. If you don't understand what those are then this isn't a conversation I want to have with you.

@nyadc: By your logic having ps1 games on the ps4 isn't adding games to the library. So should we consider all emulation even ones done on consoles and hand helds to be not adding games to their libraries?

The PlayStation 4 does not have PlayStation 1 games and as such those streamed games cannot count towards any game library, they are temporary and inaccessible when not connected to the Internet or when you decide to stop paying for the PS Now subscription, you do not own them. On top of this if you had lets say a backwards compatible PlayStation 3, those PlayStation 1 games that you purchase would count towards your PlayStation 1 library, not the PlayStation 3.

Furthermore, seeing as you're using emulators and roms you're illegally in possession of game content and actually own nothing, so not only are you breaking the law, you don't actually own any of those emulated games that you use.

@ribstaylor1: I would run circles around you when it comes to a graphics debate so don't insult me with your bullshit. It does loads of things that are in a league of there own. Is it linear? Yes but no more linear then Ryse which won a siggraph award. The sheer amount of polys and geometry in the environment and characters is insane. The texture quality is almost flawless and consistent throughout. Leather, Wool, Wood , Metal all the materials look real and the way the light reflects and reacts with each item is outstanding. Digital Foundry has gone on record saying it's the most impressive game on consoles. Does that mean your pc couldn't run it? No . Does that mean your PC isn't as powerful as a PS4? Of course not.. but to take away what they achieved just because it's not on more powerful hardware is ridiculous.

The reason The Order looks so good is through the use of smoke and mirrors, remove the motion blur, radial blur, haze/fog and post processing effects and it would look like crap. All of these effects and post processes are masking the lack of what is there, poor draw distances, low resolution textures, low LoD etc.

It's not ugly, but the way they accomplished what they did is a campaign in deceit and not technological superiority, CryEngine 3/4 is a far more capable engine, it can look light worlds better as well without the need of masking effects.

@nyadc: That's absolutely bullshit. The draw distance is huge and texture quality is extremely high through the entire game. The motion blur and DoF effect never stays the whole time. You can focus on the details and see the game is extremely crisp even when it's not using blur. The game looks much better in motion then in stale shots.

Ugh... Don't even compare the two Ryse on pc isn't it's xbox one brother and is the more technically impressive one in all aspects when compared to the order. Again I'm done with this debate the fact you think using motion blur and movie grain effects to hide it's over all lack of high resolution textures not in you direct line of site is asinine. The order does nothing to impress me on a technical level, it can look good all it want's still doesn't change the fact it's not doing anything ground breaking with it's tech. I'm done with this, I feel no more need to argue over what an APU system can do.

And NyaDC who gives a ****? I'll emulate and break the law all day long. Companies choose to sit around with their thumbs up their ass not making such things available for purchase and I'll keep doing it again and again, as I love gaming and owning a pc allows me all the gaming I want, and from platforms no longer on sale. Good old PC offering choices to everyone, through many different avenues. I also don't agree with your statement on how games libraries should work. But I'm finished with this specific thread, so I'm not going to form a rebuttal.

So you are admitting its a win for PC gamers then, good.

What he meant by "AAA blockbuster" is a game with an incredibly high development budget not a game that scored AAA. Proof of this in his reference to The Order as being an AAA game yet for it to be an AAA game it would have had to score 9/10 here on Gamespot and we all know that flipety flop of a four hour cutscene couldnt even be classed as an "A- Blockbuster". So, weather released or not those games in that list had this "AAA blockbuster" budget you consolites like to use as ammunition in PC v Console debates and once again, PC wins.

Well I do care, blurry, low resolution, low draw distance, non-reflection having smoke and mirror travesty. It still looks nice in certain regards but this game is absolutely no technological feat...

I'm moving in NONE of these screen shots, the game is just so naturally blurry it makes me feel like my vision is bad when I'm playing... SMOKE AND MIRRORS.... AND BLUR.

I must be a vampire, I have no reflection.

Texture filtering is another key point in delivering excellent image quality and it is here that The Order: 1886 stumbles. Despite the realistic depiction of materials, surfaces are sometimes tarnished by noticeable blurring at oblique angles. Secondary objects, such as wooden tables or push carts, showcase these artefacts quite noticeably and detract from game's sense of realism.

Yet another over the top statement by one of SW's biggest cows.

Just in case any of you cows want to argue with me about Driveclub, I took care of that "the game only looks good when you're doing 100mph" mess as well.

Gotta love low resolution, repeating textures, 2D assets, total lack of anisotropic filtering or anti-aliasing and 16 bit reflections...

Ladies and gentlemen I give you your savior, the PlayStation 4!

@nyadc: Driveclub is the best looking racing game currently on the Market. Just because you go out of your way to post every flaw won't change that. Not a single game known to man won't have some visual flaws.

This is actually untrue, that would be Project Cars, while it's not technically released yet you have been able to buy it for a very long time and access the alpha/beta to the game.

Weather a game was cancelled or not doesnt change the budget it had. The argument is that PC doesnt get these "AAA blockbuster" games. That list says that PC has had more of those in development than any console. Keep moving the goal posts, ill just leave you to it and you can argue it out with your four(?) other accounts, I really CBA with you.
