VandenBerghe talked at length about the underlying problems behind Red Steel 2's lacklustre sales figures – the game only managed 270,000 worldwide, he claimed.

As well as the restrictions of being single-platform and requiring a peripheral, he thinks it has a lot to do with players themselves. "I isolated this factor called audience willingness. There is a small group of people that is willing to get up and move and exert themselves for fun ... We had to ask ourselves: how many gamers are willing to move? I don't know how many there are, but it's no higher than 20 per cent. That's actually probably optimistic."

Seemed like an okay figure for a Wii game, but hes not happy.

Well it does, but we really are going round in circles now regarding the sales of core games on the Wii by third-parties.

I'm curious how Super Mario Galaxy has anymore replay value than Red Steel 2. People who own the Wii like to buy things made by Nintendo, and like to be in their walled garden. It's almost eery how similar that is to Apple...

Perhaps Ubisoft should have actually advertised the damn game. The commercial they had was more about the guy walking around and the only memorable thing about it was that the awkwardly touching the other guy. They didn't bother at all to show off the actual game or explain it. It had the same result of them doing nothing at all. Even with all that it was a midnight or later advertisement. Shown at a time when the target audience was long asleep. So yeah because it didn't sell it's back to blaming the actual Wii owners. Let's totally ignore Ubisoft's own incompetence in the matter.

I enjoy Red Steel 2 but crap like this makes me wish I didn't buy it at times. Seein gthat Ubisoft wants to pawn off another rail shooter on the Wii I'm done with them.

They did advertise at normal times and on top of that it was a good game:? It was the same case for Madworld, only thing was that people turned on that game.

IDK what youre talking about, SMG2 is a MUCH longer game than RS2. Plus some people like to replay the best levels in the game and there are alot.

People in this day and age aren't rushing out to buy a 8-10 hour game with no multiplayer(online or off), and with little to no replay value. Most people just rent it, beat it, and bring it back to the store.

The Game itself is $30.

The Bundle is $70 cause it comes with Motion Plus which is like $30 as well (maybe more.)

I'm one of those people that bought this game new and BY GOLLY IF YOU HAVE A Wii AND ARE COMPLAINING ABOUT MOTION CONTROLS THEN GO OUT AND GET THIS GAME AND YOU'LL SEE THAT THE MOTION CONTROLS ARE AMAZING!

Not saying it wasn't a good game. I thought it was and I did enjoy it. However I don't recall seeing any ads during normal times for this game. The ad I did see as I said was more about the guy walking around the room he was in then about the actual game. How is you have what could be a 30 second commercial but only 4 or 5 of it is spent showing the actual game? What good does that do? I knew this was going to happen as did others on the official forums for the game. They tried to say it was going to be advertised but we knew what was going to happen and it did.

SMG is a 15 - 20 hour platforming masterpiece. Red Steel 2 is like an 8 hour decent shooter/slasher. Its hardly the same thing.

The Bundle is still sold at Launch Price and I bought it at that price. Well Worth it for the Accessory Alone.

That's bullcrap. There are plenty of gamers out there willing to get up off the couch and have fun. They're called casuals, and Ubisoft can't seem to get them to play Red Steel 2.

You know they will port it to Move. Developers are doing that now. If it doesn't work with Wii then Give it for Free for the PS3!

Shame, Red Steel 2 is great but if It had Online and Local Multiplayer like the First One (I don't think it had Online but it had Local.) then it probably would have more Sells.

Sorry Ubisoft, but I rented it. The game was too short and it has no replay value. Still a solid game though, I enjoyed my time with it.

Yeah I'd get it if it came down in price a bit just for the M+, but I'll probably just wait for Skyward Sword and hope it's bundled with it.

Cry some more Ubisoft sheesh, It's their own fault it that it only sold that if they don't know how to advertise they should go talk to Capcom and take notes from the Monster Hunter Tri ad campaign. That is how a 3rd Party game should be advertised for the Wii, Im in Australia so 3rd Party Wii ads are almost an endangered species but there where Monster Hunter Tri ads all over the sports channels, music channels, comedy/drama channels and on most of the regular non-cable channels. Also the ads where actually on when people would be up and watching TV and not at some obscure time like 3am. The Tri ads where being shown on a regular basis as well as short gameplay demo's that lasted about 5 to 10 mins explaining what it was and how it's played. Thanks to all that advertising it's current worldwide sales are at 1.8 million copies sold by July 30, 2010 of that figure 690,000 copies where sold outside of Japan.

It's Ubisoft's fault Red Steel 2 sold poorly, the first one was nothing special but there was a lot of advertising for that and it still sold up to 1 million. So then how is it possible that the better game then sells worse than the craptacular first game it's because no one wants to get burned twice by a game series and Ubisoft's lack of advertising for Red Steel 2.

Dont compare one of the most polished and well designed titles this gen with typical Ubisoft fluff. Like 90% of Ubisoft's genuine attempts at good game development, its pretty to look at, it sounds good but it has the personality of a rock.

Exactly. I looked at the reviews and video's, and it looked like an ok game with interesting styIe graphics. The combat looked very repetitive in those reviews and video's so i didn't get it. Also they said it was pretty short. I can't remember what other games were released at the time but i remember that i picked another game to play first, and then i forgot all about RS2. I'm still on the fence about it. There are many good games released and i don't have money to spare.

So the answer is "NO". Controls where actually fine on the game it was just nothing really spectacular in the game. Motion Controls on Metroid ?! Now the only time motion controls where really used where when you was a Ball .
