Ubisoft screws up with ridiculous Watch Dogs PC reqs

Game devs have no idea what their game requires? Lol wut? If this game is designed to use more than 4 threads then you sir are fucked.

If you have a GPU that is way above required and a CPU slightly below you should be fine. Just tune the game accordingly. You guys are freaking out for no reason. You will not be running the game on low just because you have an i5.

Most herms tout rigs that aren't anywhere near as powerful as they claim to be.. so yeah, no surprise the butthurt is flowing from these spec requirements.

Computer component companies need to make money. If the demand isn't there, they can't make money. Why not push the specs to the point that forces gamers to buy new parts?

Let's hope the game is actually utilizing all those CPU threads and it's not just another unoptimized game. If the game world have alot of AI, animation, and other calculations, the game could easily use more than 4 threads. The requirements will get higher as devs utilize the new consoles more, but later on GPU's will handle almost all compute processing done in games.

There's a difference between being demanding because it has great graphics or physics or AI or unit count, and being demanding because it was programmed by a monkey banging a keyboard

I never bothered to look at those requirements. They often do not reflect real life performance. I call them bullshit.

Seems more than a little insane to require a i7, especially since all over requirements are modest. I'm sure this is just a ploy marketing scam between ubisoft and intel to make people spend money on unnecessary processors.

Those are fairly steep, but this is a next gen open world game. You have a lot of high poly NPCs running about and AI to calculate. Fortunately for PC games, they can be adjusted if you can't handle everything maxed out.

That could be. Different manufacturers put different amounts of video memory on GPUs sometimes.

I agree. After all the wailing and gnashing of teeth over the game being "downgraded", maybe we should wait and see what the PC version actually looks like maxed out before passing judgement here. The game is on the Wii U. I'm sure that a mid-range PC will run it just fine on medium settings.

Proof next gen starts when's consoles say so.

To be fair the people complaining about the power needed to run it are not the same people that want games to use more of their hardware.

Personally i think the people moaning about hardware requirements rising are bloody idiots that should not own PC's, why the hell would you buy an upgradable machine and moan that you need to upgrade it??

The next gen consoles have been out for 5 months and we are sill waiting for the baseline specs for Multiplatform games to rise,and how can we be suprised when they do,crazy really :P

Even indie games like Kerbal Space Program cant run on last gen consoles.

And even minecraft that has been out for years had to be gimped to 862 x 862 blocks squared in size on the consoles....

Upgrading the processor is kind of a pain in the ass, at least when it means you also have to get a new motherboard. Luckily, I don't really care if my rig can max a game like this out.

Exactly the minimum cpu is about 7 years old and the min gpu only because it requires DX11 is 4 years old,there are faster gpu's than this that are 5 or 6 years old but they are only dx10

I bought my Q6600 2.4ghz in 2007 and did a modest easy overclock to 3.0ghz all i would then have to do is buy a DX11 mid level gpu in 2009 (5770) / 2010 (Gtx 460) and I would above the minimum specs and be set to run this game with the same graphical features (DX11 level)as late 2013 consoles,maybe not as well but that unsurprising given the age of the tech.

Considering the i5-2400 (middle to low end I5) is much better all around then the Core 2 Quad which is listed as the minimum spec, wouldn't you think that they are saying I5's are perfectly fine for this game? I take their recommended spec as the more power you have the better our game is going to be. The I7's have been out long enough that they should have worked there way into enough (gaming) PC's that they are used in benchmarking games. That said, I'm good with the way they listed the specs.

Console players are too stupid to play games like KSP.
