Okay seriously, what's up with this persistant Mass Effect/Uncharted comparison. This is as bad as all the Resistance/Gear of War comparisons.

Mass Effect is my favorite of the two. Hell, it's my favorite game of all time. Uncharted ranks #2.
Dude, wired. It's at exactly 50-50:o
Right and that's why I didn't vote on either. They are both like the best games in their genre. So it's kind of impossible for me to choose one over the other. I enjoy them both equally, but for different reasons. The poll quite accurately presents the thinking behind the question: They are totally different games and so people who like Uncharted's style of gameplay will pick it, and people who like Mass Effect 2's style of gameplay will pick it. I have a personal bias towards Mass Effect 2 (as it is prevailing as my favourite franchise of all time), so that is my favourite of the two. Uncharted 2 is still an amazing game however
skinny_man_69
Demon Soul's best RPG i played in years the story sucks but the gameplay is amazing.didnt like ME1 will try ME2 later see how it is hope its not overrated like Dragon Age. anyway this poll is pointless
The one that won Game of the Year and its rated a 96 on metaritic with 85+ reviews and more than 40 perfect scores. The one that is one of the highest rated games of all time. :P
Nah, just kiddin'. They're both great games...but Uncharted 2 has the overall package with unsurpassable console graphics, active cinemetaic experience seen like never before, funny as hell....and its just SO good. It is an easy game to love filled with an aura thats kind of like magic....it strikes you deep and leaves you thinking how the future of video games will be.
Uncharted 2 is just....like Ive always said, MAGIC in one disk.
Bloody amazing game.
Uncharted 2.
But seriously its an exclusive compared to a multiplat.

I'm sorry, I didn't realize exclusivity influenced quality. Besides, they're both system sellers, despite exclusivity.

those of you who think it's comparing apples to oranges are FEWLS! There's no such thing as genre that really exists it's just an archetype in this case because direct comparisons can be made.
For example the option to customize your character in Mass Effect 2 to any gender, any race and any look for John Shepard EXISTS. You can't do that in Uncharted 2 with Nathan Drake you are stuck with the same old character, and not everyone wants to play with the same generic hollywood 'hero'. This might seem trivial to alot of people but is actually considerably more socially progressive and advanced than UC2. Instead of being locked with one character like in movies, this is the big advantage of video games.
This could have been implemented along similar lines in UC2, but they didn't do that now did they?
And on top of that linearity vs non-linearity, mass effect 2 wins here hands down and it's not because of 'genre'. It takes more effort, thought, and talent to pull off a non-linear story that comes together seamlessly.
ME2 isn't just meant to be an emulated Hollywood experience that UC2 strives to be, ME2 is just so much more superior because it goes beyond that.
This is just like that ridiculous IGN thread. You're basically saying Mass Effect 2 is better because it's an RPG. Why would you be able to customize your character to any race, gender etc in Uncharted 2? and please explain how it takes more "effort, thought and talent" to create a non-linear game, bearing in mind what Uncharted 2 does in its SP. Like OI said, I'll reserve my judgement until I'lve beaten Mass Effect 2, and at the moment I'm loving it, but these are just genre differences.Ability to customize characters isn't an exclusive domain of RPG's, non-linear story telling also isn't an exclusive domain of RPG's it's you who'se confused that maybe games don't have to be defined by genre?
Like I said UC2 strives to be an EMULATED movie experience so it becomes more of a watered down version of what you see in the cinema, ME2 on the other hand offercs something that no cinema or movie experience could ever in a million years hope to offer. That's why it's superior.
I never said that it was exclusive to RPGs so please don't put words in my mouth. My point was that it wouldn't make much sense for Uncharted to have character customisation similar to Mass Effect's. Choose your gender? the story is about a guy. Choose your race? it's on earth, they're all humans. As for the issue of being linear, you avoided my question on how it takes more effort, thought and talent to create a non-linear experience. You're continuously making these statements without any reasoning behind them. Why is Mass Effect 2 beyond the reach of any cinema ar movie experience "ever in a million years"? both games are very cinematic so I fail to see how you came to that conclusion.Wow dead tie 97-97 as I write this post. I know I tried ME when I had a 360 for a couple weeks and I loved it. Now that I have a gaming PC I will be buying ME & ME2 and I'm sure they will be right up there with UC and UC2 as my favorite games this gen. I think bothseries are great and of course might appeal to different gamers even though they both contain 3rd person shooting qualities in them.

Yeah Gamecritics (whoever the hell they are) gave the game a 7.5. I read the review: Terrible. They complained about the choices in the game and seemed to actually have a problem with the alien squad mates. They definitely missed the whole point of the gameClose poll lol.
