Apparently its the highest score the site ever gave, so the game should be excellent. Though to be a honest a score like 9.9 is why I laugh at most video game reviews. Like wtf was the 1% off for? How are they so certain its only 1% off and not 2%?

it's just a way of indicating "it's not perfection, but it's as close as it can be".
I wouldn't trust a review that is posted so far in advance of the game's actual release. I'm sure the game will score highly, I just don't trust a foreign review of a game that probably won't be handed out willy-nilly to begin with and which has a large online component.
Not for the modern "professional" review industry. 9's and even 10's are handed out like candy from most sources. And most wouldn't dare give anything less than an 8 to anything but the worst game ever made.

8.5 ? are you nuts ... the game has gone gold and industry gamers are praising it for being better than the second.Better than the second doesn't mean it will score better. Standards change constantly in the gaming industry. Forza 4 scored an 8.5, does that make it worse than its predecessor which scored a 9.5? No, it just means it didn't change too much, but it's still the better game by and large. Don't expect a score to match Uncharted 2 from Uncharted 3, it hasn't really added much to the formula like 2 did, even if will obliterate Among Thieves in terms of quality.

Still make the spreadsheet, that's all that matters to me and it will still be my GOTY. We should also see a separate "discussion" thread for those PS3 fans that are butthurt over the review where the mention of flop is not tolerated.
Judging only based on knowledge that it's the 'first batch of reviews' doesn't mean much. You also have to take into account the publication. Apparently this Spanish magazine gave Uncharted 2 a 9.5, and never scored a game as high as Uncharted 3 before. That's pretty interesting IMO.

Forza 4 is considered by many to be better than 3. Yet it scored 1.0 less here. I don't think anyone would be nuts making that kind of prediction.Another instance of where looking at something as a whole could be faulty. I try not to categorize the reviews here as "Gamespots", even though they technically are. Realistically, they aren't. I section them off by the actual reviewers. Perhaps another guy would have given Forza 4 a 9.0 :P? Maybe Tom McShea would have given Dark Souls a 9.0?
If Uncharted 3 manages to get the same or higher average than Uncharted 2, I'll just shake my head in grave disappointment. It's pretty bad looking when a game in our medium of choice receives the highest praise for trying its best to be like another medium... I feel the truly outstanding review scores and awards should be given to games that push what differentiates gaming from other media; player control. This is why I see the "professional" gaming media to be very immature still.
P.S. I don't mind if you love Uncharted or games like it, but I don't think it should be proffessionally praised as much as it is. The same way that I don't mind people enjoying Transformers 3.

When sites judge games based off of community hype/anticipation, or their own personal hype/anticipation, everything turns to s***. Maybe most reviews are s*** to begin with? Yet, when our favorite games are backed by the mojority of "critics" as being superb titles, we want to represent that :lol:. Ain't that a b***?

I feel you are completely wrong. Uncharted isn't trying to be a another medium. Uncharted is proving that gaming can over take movies. Be proud that video game's can offer such a wide variety of experiences offering unparalleled levels of entertainment. Like Guillermo del Toro once stated: video games are the future of movies. They can do what movies can't. You ever watched an amazing blockbuster movie that sported great action, detailed characters, a deep story, then said to yourself, "wouldnt it be cool to be in that world? To play it and control it?" This should be a feat for the medium as a whole. Gaming as a whole is vast, and should not, and cannot be packed into one type of design.
Then you mention player control. Uncharted provides player control in set piece moments.
