WWhy would anybody who's buying a HDTV not get a 1080p set??

But it's hard (almost impossible unless it's open box/refurbished) to find a good 40" 8ms 720p hdtv for under 1k.

ChiChiMonKilla

So I take it that you generally buy monitors in excess of 40"? People BS a ton about the cost of PCs but what you are doing here is really no better.

I can't believe the "recommended" requirements only call for 1 gig of RAM. And a 7800? These recommended sys requirements are amazingly low, and the minimum ones are absurdly low (512 RAM? 6200?). I'd expect even Gears of War PC to call for a stronger rig than this. UT3 isn't looking any worse than Gears, either. Impressive stuff by Epic.Zeliard9
I dont know a single unmodded game out that uses more then some 500 mb of the RAM... (ofcourse the OS wil use some and stuff) So that isn't weird.. And dude, you can tweak graphics, it isn't consoles.. Graphics for games on PC can range from awful too OMG THIS IS BETTER THEN REALISTIC!!!! zomg. And dude a 7800 gtx isn't a bad card.. It can do most games on atleast high settings....

Does this look like a 3k system to you

Recommended System Requirements

  • 2.4+ GHZ Dual Core Processor
  • 1 GBytes of System RAM
  • NVIDIA 7800GTX+ or ATI x1300+ Video Card
  • 8 GB of Free Hard Drive Space
smokeydabear076
Yes it does.

Not even close. I have a X6800, 2xHD2900 XT's, 4gb of ram, 2x250 HDD's, Asus P5W-DH Deluxe mobo, Windows Vista, and 2x DVD-RW drives. It all cost $2600+, that what they're mentioning is not even close. And mine will spank anything with that spec.

I cant believe there are so many people on this thread that didn't even read thoroughly through the thread to actually find out that the TC was really being sarcastic the whole time.

WWhy would anybody who's buying a HDTV not get a 1080p set??

But it's hard (almost impossible unless it's open box/refurbished) to find a good 40" 8ms 720p hdtv for under 1k.

Runningflame570

So I take it that you generally buy monitors in excess of 40"? People BS a ton about the cost of PCs but what you are doing here is really no better.

I assume it's for your living room a 40" tv is the norm unles it's a small room then 37" would be okay. If your getting it for your bedroom and it's a small room then a smaller set would be okay. When I went shopping for a new hdtv I did not look for a small set soI could go blind, I got one I could live withand play games on. I didn't get a cheap one with ghosting while I was gaming so 8ms was the bar for me.

Your display like your speakers should be good otherwise it does not matter what signal you feed them it will look and sound like rubbish.

ChiChiMonKilla

I've been perfectly fine with a 30" set in a living room of a moderate size for the past 7 years now. Pretty much regardless of what HDTV you buy its going to be a heck of a lot better than your old set, right now I'm looking at 26" models actually and that should be fine (maybe 32" if they get cheap enough).

The thing is that most people would be more than happy with a 19" widescreen LCD (I am) and most people would be more than happy with a 32" HDTV, they aren't cheap but right now you can get one for less than around $500 on Ebay, even if its not of an excellent quality.

When I talk to people about PC hardware I usually talk no higher than lower highrange (as in no higher than 7900GT or 8800GTS 320MB), TVs are the same...some people may buy a 65" plasma but most people aren't going to buy 1080P or anything much larger than 32" inches. I don't consider the cost of a namebrand 40"+ (especially 1080P) comparable there.

Got em. Yes.

Now what's the PS3 version's framerate? What's the 360's?

KillaHalo2o9

Well the PS3 version runs at 120 fps on two HD TVs with 4d graphics. The 360 version runs at 30 fps.

BS more like PS3 running 30Fps.

Yeah right.

Does this look like a 3k system to you

Recommended System Requirements

  • 2.4+ GHZ Dual Core Processor
  • 1 GBytes of System RAM
  • NVIDIA 7800GTX+ or ATI x1300+ Video Card
  • 8 GB of Free Hard Drive Space

the_hsoj

Yes it does.

If that looks like a 3k system then you don't know much about hardware pricing.

You are an extremely observant individual.

The thing is that most people would be more than happy with a 19" widescreen LCD (I am) and most people would be more than happy with a 32" HDTV, they aren't cheap but right now you can get one for less than around $500 on Ebay, even if its not of an excellent qualityRunningflame570
Ebay huh? *Snickers* If you want to bargain bin I can go hecka low on refurbed parts.

Crysis ran smooth as buttered popcorn on my less fortunate rig. However, whenever I tried to turn on high settings the textures and map wouldn't load *angry* Considering Gears has been more refined and was less of a graphical hog than Unreal its probably gonna be much lower.

did you get the rainbow effect? that gives the game odd coloers and missing textures?

I got that too for like 2 minutes, and then it went away....Im guessing its just a Beta problem...since many people seem to be getting this.

Do you people forget how well UT2004 was optimised? ANYONE here can run it easily.(64MB card can run it on medium @ 800x600).

UT3 will be well optimised too, a 3 year-old gaming PC should be able to run it. But if you want all the eye candy at 75+ FPS I suggest getting a 640MB 8800GTS.
