WWhy would anybody who's buying a HDTV not get a 1080p set??
But it's hard (almost impossible unless it's open box/refurbished) to find a good 40" 8ms 720p hdtv for under 1k.
ChiChiMonKilla
So I take it that you generally buy monitors in excess of 40"? People BS a ton about the cost of PCs but what you are doing here is really no better.
I can't believe the "recommended" requirements only call for 1 gig of RAM. And a 7800? These recommended sys requirements are amazingly low, and the minimum ones are absurdly low (512 RAM? 6200?). I'd expect even Gears of War PC to call for a stronger rig than this. UT3 isn't looking any worse than Gears, either. Impressive stuff by Epic.Zeliard9I dont know a single unmodded game out that uses more then some 500 mb of the RAM... (ofcourse the OS wil use some and stuff) So that isn't weird.. And dude, you can tweak graphics, it isn't consoles.. Graphics for games on PC can range from awful too OMG THIS IS BETTER THEN REALISTIC!!!! zomg. And dude a 7800 gtx isn't a bad card.. It can do most games on atleast high settings....

I cant believe there are so many people on this thread that didn't even read thoroughly through the thread to actually find out that the TC was really being sarcastic the whole time.

Considering how much I spent on my computer, it will run just fine and my PC only cost me 1000 without the monitor and I am still going to be above recommended specs.
You know if this were two years ago where I acted like a complete ******* and sat there and posted "you can play that game with blablabla specs here is the link to the hardware on newegg blablabla" you folks would probably still remember me as a pro PC person. I assume it's for your living room a 40" tv is the norm unles it's a small room then 37" would be okay. If your getting it for your bedroom and it's a small room then a smaller set would be okay. When I went shopping for a new hdtv I did not look for a small set soI could go blind, I got one I could live withand play games on. I didn't get a cheap one with ghosting while I was gaming so 8ms was the bar for me.Your display like your speakers should be good otherwise it does not matter what signal you feed them it will look and sound like rubbish.

I've been perfectly fine with a 30" set in a living room of a moderate size for the past 7 years now. Pretty much regardless of what HDTV you buy its going to be a heck of a lot better than your old set, right now I'm looking at 26" models actually and that should be fine (maybe 32" if they get cheap enough).
The thing is that most people would be more than happy with a 19" widescreen LCD (I am) and most people would be more than happy with a 32" HDTV, they aren't cheap but right now you can get one for less than around $500 on Ebay, even if its not of an excellent quality.
When I talk to people about PC hardware I usually talk no higher than lower highrange (as in no higher than 7900GT or 8800GTS 320MB), TVs are the same...some people may buy a 65" plasma but most people aren't going to buy 1080P or anything much larger than 32" inches. I don't consider the cost of a namebrand 40"+ (especially 1080P) comparable there.

did you get the rainbow effect? that gives the game odd coloers and missing textures?
I got that too for like 2 minutes, and then it went away....Im guessing its just a Beta problem...since many people seem to be getting this.
Do you people forget how well UT2004 was optimised? ANYONE here can run it easily.(64MB card can run it on medium @ 800x600).
UT3 will be well optimised too, a 3 year-old gaming PC should be able to run it. But if you want all the eye candy at 75+ FPS I suggest getting a 640MB 8800GTS.
