Well the year is pretty much over. Lets discuss GOTY 2012

What will be the crowning achievement this year?

For me it's a toss up between Borderlands 2 and Black Ops 2 right now. Hitman is proving to be pretty amazing though, so after I finish that it might just take the numba 1. Opinions?

The only category I'm actually interested is Racing GOTY.I have a funny feeling both Sonic and All-Star Racing transformed and Forza Horizon will fight to the death for the reviewers hearts.I'm talking about GS.If I was going to choose GOTY it would be dishonoured(from other people's opinions) or halo4.

For now, I'd go with Max Payne 3, which is by far the best TPS I played this gen...

Maybe I'd consider Hitman Absolution, Dishonored and AC3 too, but I haven't played either of them yet...

Iono, that's just how game awards work. Same with handheld games. You never see those get much.

Well yeah. It's the best CoD game ever made. It deserves some love.

I don't know my GotY right now. Nothing really stood out for me this year. Hotline Miami keeps coming to mind, but I know that's just not right.

If amount of content was what determined GOTY then Blops 2 would be a shoe-in.

None of those TBH, and I actually can't think of a GOTY now. I was waiting for AC III to come but now that I've played it I don't think it has what it takes to be GOTY. Dishonored was good but far fro the best this year too. Personal GOTY would be Dark Souls on PC, that game shocked me by how good it was. Also worth a big mention is Planetside 2. That game has given me so much fun already between beta and full release and it's free too which was a big plus. Wish it ran better though.

Well hold on, the year isn't over. Far Cry 3 still isn't out and based on what reviews are saying it looks like it's going to be a definite hit and contender for GOTY.

Anyways, I don't have a GOTY this year as I picked no games up at all this year. I will at least make a guess as to what game will probably take home GOTY for GameSpot though; tied between Mass Effect 3, Dishonoured, and Halo 4.

EDIT: Could throw in Guild Wars 2 as well, I suppose.

Yeah it seems to have surprised a lot of reviewers and myself. Didn't expect it to be do so well.

Borderlands 2 if we go by the poll selection. I would go with either Max Payne 3 or Torchlight 2 though. I'm probably not the best person to ask since I haven't played

Several of those could be considered strong contenders for GOTY

Apparently Far Cry 3 is amazing so I think people should wait a couple more weeks bofore this threads like these show up.

Max Payne 3 so far for me though.

I have to say it's a toss up between Hotline Miami,Mark of the Ninja,The Walking Dead and maybe Far Cry 3.

Assassins Creed 3 easily, although I haven't played most of the games that I wanted to play yet.
