Thank you,
only problem was that parts of your post weren't correct as pointed out above
I'll paraphrase it.
Epic didn't make a single PC exclusive title since their collaboration with Microsoft.
Ensemble didn't make a single PC exclusive title since Halo Wars.
Lionhead didn't make a single PC exclusive title since The Movies.
All of them under contract by a console maker.
I mean really....
When the only argument for abandonment is that a dev became first party with a console maker, or was under contract to make games, then the argument is incredibly weak. That's not "abandonment". No publisher is leaving the PC completely in favor of making strictly console games. In fact, quite the opposite because most devs realize it's just not feasible to make a big-budget Xbox, or PS3 exclusive.
As it stands the PC still gets 10x  more games than all the consoles do (most likely an understatement because so many games do come out), and it still gets exclusives from companies like EA, Ubisoft, 2k, Activision/Blizzard, Sega, etc etc. Neither the 360, or PS3 can say that.
Â
Â
Wana first get this out of the way, this is not to attack PC gamers in anyway as i do appreciate seeing high end visuals and the forward leap PC gaming has, also its a very good alternative to consoles. However something i have noticed on system wars is a pile of some PC gamers act as if everyone should become PC gamers or they should go to hell or something, it is almost worrysome that some PC want consoles to die off and everyone should start gaming on PC or something.
To the main point, if you observe the trend of the gaming industry since the 1980s, you would observe a system in the gaming industry where core game design has shifted from PC to consoles, even till date the trend is continued to an extent where developers that are considered strictly PC centric are now joining the consoles development stream. So if PC gaming was so great, why are developers defecting. The first major thing is the userbase of consoles still outweigh PC gamer userbase and consoles provide a more lucrative business model for publishers.
In summary, no matter how much high end visual gizmo you purchase, if developers dont consider your hardware the average or common denominator, the investment is just for a little extra shinny bits and at the moment developers are more focused on consoles than PCs. The core base of most games has been and still is designed with consoles first in mind, then PC second with the little extra shinnies, so before you call me a troll or go all immature about this, think for second, am i trolling or just saying the cold truth. As far as developers still see consoles as the first customers to serve, your hardware upgrades would remain under utilized so if anything at all, be pleased with next gen consoles cause thats actually when developers would wana upgrade core game designs because the common denominator has moved a step up.

Fascinating, especially considering the fact that PC is the forefather of gaming going all the way back.

Yea it deff is, actually i started with games on PC, prince of persia (the oldest one) but consoles just provided a platform where developers could not ignore or work around

Yet this thread is aimed at PC gamers. That is because after 3yrs of observing things on Gamespot forums, i noticed any topic that is related to visuals tend to stimulate a plethorea of PC gamers and it becomes a nerd fest of computer jargon langauge about how consoles suck and PC gaming is the way forward. I do agree in a perfect world PC gaming is the way forward due to the rate of change that occurs, but the problem is PC does not offer a unified delivery system, PC gamers have to deal with different developers and methods e.g. Blizzard with Diablo, Nvidia vs AMD (TressFX) among other things that makes it feel as if PC gamers are caught in a crossfire of publisher competition. I guess one can say its why Steam became popular because it is trying to offer that unified system that sets a standard for all games (which is what consoles have had for decades). Anywayz enuff of my rant, you prob think im stupid or sumtin
It's not recruitment. Quite the opposite; they've made it quite clear that they don't want "other" on their platform.lowe0

Not really, I honestly can't think of any developers who abandoned the PC, also, with the rise of development costs, it's obvious every third-party dev will try to expand on as much systems as possible and go multiplat. That applies to both console-centric and PC-centric developers...
Also, one of the biggest feature of console gaming this gen, the accessible and mainstream on-line gaming came right from the PC. Lastly, I feel there's definitely enough difference between console and PC game versions to render wording like "little extra shinnies" inaccurate. On consoles, it's possible to make a highly complex game with lots of features to run... but the problem is to make it look and perform well, and that's where the PC comes in. For example, I find open world games on consoles very watered down, which is why I regret not being able to give RDR a proper PC treatment. A great game, but shortcomings of console hardware did put a damper on my experience.

I don't your stupid, I think you are looking at this from one point of view. You mentioned those threads about graphics becoming a nerd fest, but 80% of the time they are started by console users pitting console games against PC games, of course that will bring out hermits and along with hermits comes benchmarks and framerates etc. For a technical standpoint, consoles do suck compared to PC, yet that message never gets across because its presented in the wrong way and taken as such.[QUOTE="megaspiderweb09"][QUOTE="lowe0"]It's not recruitment. Epic didn't make a single PC title since their collaboration with Microsoft, except UT3 and Gears 1 port.

Competition is good, and open nature is one of the best traits of the PC platform...
TressFX and PhysX are minor gimmicks, and such examples exist on consoles as well, like some games getting minor Kinect features on the 360 (Skyrim, Dead Space 3, Mass Effect 3), or a minor Move feature on the PS3.

Epic is making Fortnite right now, only two of their games skipped the PC. Can't judge Ensemble on a single game not availible on the PC, when they made far more PC exclusives, or PC orriented games.
As for Lionhead, Fable 1 and 3 are both availible on the PC, only Fable 2 isn't. As such, I see none of those developers truly abandoned the PC platform.

Epic was under contract by MS for the Gears games but they released Bulletstorm and are now making Fortnite on UE4 as a PC exclusive, and the same situation happened with Lionhead, and even then Fable and Fable 3 are on the PC,Ensemble was a MS studio and MS wanted to push exclusives under the 360 so that´s the only reason of Halo Wars existing, and apparently that didn´t worked out for Ensemble since they´re now closed. That´s not abandoning a system, that´s being under a contract and not having a choice to do otherwise.[QUOTE="IgGy621985"]

We don't want console gamers. With console gamers comes hyper-casuals whose games must be watered down and flashy enough to impress the peasantry.
As a PC gamer I'm perfectly fine with my superior platform for a greater breed of player. I'll have fun with the best version of every multiplat, better exclusives and almost the entire indie scene.
Hint: PC gaming isn't better because of the graphics.

If a developer doesn't make PC exclusive titles anymore for whatever reason, they hardly abandoned the platform. If someone specifically stated PC platform is not viable to develop for and none of their games came out on it ever since, that'd be abandoning the platform...
As I previously said, no one comes to mind.
