All popular games are overrated to some extent. OoT just happens to be one of the most well-designed games of all time, so it's naturally going to get overinflated praise.

Resident Evil 4! People seem to forget about that. It was one of the best action games I ever played and the best revival of franchise going downhill ever.

Ehhhh. There were problems. It's definitely in the top 5, though.
I would say HL2, considering how it recieved very little criticism and was universaly praised. The only difference between its reception and OOTs is that i think HL2 actually deserved it. I really don't see what people find so amazing about OOT (but that's just my opinnion).

The only thing any games this decade have paralled oot on are graphics, sound quality and sales. No game will ever have the same reception or the same revoloutionizing effect. Sometime in the future a game could meet its quality....but not this gen, FPS's don't have the potential

its because oot was a legacy game and some of the praise it recieved was the product fo imposing fondness for past games int eh franchise onto it, just like has happened to metal gear. the perception of how good it was is inflated then, and now is even worse though the lens of nostalgia.
it is one of the best games of all time. this is not debatable. but it isnt THE best game. several games from the last five years have been better.
Same here. If you mean most highly acclaimed game: GTAIV. If you mean 10 game on gamespot: MGS4 or GTAIV, if you mean best, most perfect game, that is going to be everyones different opinion

if we're talking about making waves in the industry then there is no question in my mind that it is Halo: Combat Evolved. Both ocarina and halo:ce had problems but they did something very very right as well.
