What is the greatest rpg ever? (2010 edition, Vote!)

I'm curious as to what everyone thinks is the greatest, most legendary, king of rpg's? Jrpg or otherwise, so we can crown it the king and the one that every other rpg gets judged agains't. Personally I won't be content, I won't fricken rest untill something beats smt: nocturne.

Planescape: Torment is the best i have played, but there are a few others that are right up there in terms of quality for me.

Planescape: Torment for me too.

I wish their was a game like Planescape today with all the improvements we have made in tech.

Although I admit lots of people raise older games on a pedestal because of the nostalgic effect.

Final Fantasy 9 is the correct answer.

i never knew so many would pick torment over bg2.

but it may be because i read forgotten realms.

Depends if you count Diablo II as an RPG? If so then Diablo II. If not then I guess I would go with Paper Mario Thousand Year Door, although there are SOOO many other close competitors such as Baten kaitos 1 and 2, Tales of Symphonia, Skies of Arcadia Legends, Paper Mario 64, Final Fantasy X, Golden Sun, and more.
