It's hardly an RPG though. I mean yeah you can make your character's face and you can give a BS back story and "OMG CHOICES!" You'll still eventually get to the same outcome, the Same ending.....It's a Thrid Person shooter. I'm pretty sure most of those sites were just basing it off of Bioware's past. But don't take this the wrong way, this makes BioWare more capable to do more things than just RPGs. (but seriously I find Mass Effect 2 a poor RPG but a Great TPS.)

One, there is more than one ending. Two, characters die and don't join you. The choices you make not only affect the game you're playing, but the next one. You don't just choose your player, you choose his or her path, and upgrade until they completely suit you.
The one thing making the RPG genre questionable in Mass Effect is the battle dynamics, and RPGs have never ever been afraid to mix it up anyway. It's an RPG where it matters, not as deep as, say, Shadows of Amn, but an RPG nonetheless.
just looked on Youtube. Yeah you're right.
I still find it hard to put this game with the likes of something like Final Fantasy or Chrono Trigger.
You're complaining about the choices in ME2 and then putting up a game like Corridor Fantasy as an example of a good RPG? You don't choose your character, you don't have any choice in the story, you upgrade what you are told to and go where you are told to and pretty much click X the whole game. Mass Effect is more of an RPG than Corridor Fantasy will ever be.
If you had to look up on youtube to find out whether I was correct what on earth are you making such concrete judgements on it for? You complain about things you obviously don't know much about.
