[QUOTE="nintendoboy16"]And it will most likely miss the Wii U.

nintendoboy16

your confusing most likely with less likely...4 systems to 1..

You forget that the popularity and profitability of the series is also a factor, which is what happened when F-Zero and Star Fox avoided the Wii.

but starfox is on the 3ds...a port but its there...idk...the history shows it will most likely be there imo.

[QUOTE="nintendoboy16"]

[QUOTE="charizard1605"] Well, I'll put it in perspective: a single Mario Kart game sells more than the entire Metroid series put together.

Nintendo knows Metroid doesn't sell well. But at the same time, it needs Metroid around, because it exists to diversify its portfolio, and it fills a void in its forst party lineup that no other game fills.

Its anniversary being ignored is indicative of nothing in the end.charizard1605

I don't know, Char. Ninty has some pretty suspicious behavior around it. The fact that a generally lower selling series (Kirby) got it's anniversary and the generally higher (by a bit) selling series, save for that one game (Metroid) didn't is telling of something.

But Kirby isn't lower selling at all. Kirby has sold in excess of 30 million units. Metroid hasn't touched 17 million, to put that into perspective.

Okay, you got me there. I just went and checked several Nintendo top selling charts and noticed that several Metroid games didn't outsell a Kirby game. Prime 3 got it's ass kicked by Epic Yarn. Nightmare in Dreamland murdered Fusion. The only times Metroid did beat Kirby was in the GameCube era with Prime 1 while Air Ride barely made a million as well as the NES era Metroid was the only game to ever chart. I just got the notion it always did because people talked about Metroid more so than Kirby, then again I didn't pay too good of attention of sales charts back then.

Being said though, the fact that Metroid was fairly popular up until Other M while Nintendo still avoided that series 25th anniversary and just did eShop re-releases and cameos still sound worrisome, leading me to think it's likely missing another console. Thus, I stand by that part of the statement.

Metroid was never that popular Nintendo franchise outside of the US anyway.

It's mostly the American audience that is fond of the series while in Europe and Japan it's less popular and recognized.

But a new high-quality Metroid sidescroller or first-person adventure/shooter would be nice regardless.

Might as well avoid considering Wii U altogether then.

Oh I don't know, I think it may happen during the U's life, though you have a point about them missing its anniversary.

I'd actually be happy for one on the 3DS, or even a portable Super Metroid.

I want a Metroid. I know it isn't popular and I know they may not want to make one, but it would make me very happy.
Why isn't Metroid popular though? Controls were always awesome. The world is awesome. Being a nongeneric FPS is awesome.

I can bet there will be a new Metroid game this generation. Now, it may not necessarily be for the Wii U, it might just be a 3DS game, but there will be a new Metroid game this generation.

I tend not to get this one. What exactly would be gained from putting pokemon in 3D on a console in terms of gameplay? Do people want it to mimic the gameplay from the main series or do they want this to be an entirely new game?

Definitely Metroid, and something much improved to negate Other M. Also a new F Zero.

I would love to see a new Kid icarus game like Uprising on the Wii U. I imagine any sort of control issues would be taken care of, then they would just have to expand on what the 3dS game had, and keep the same endearing characters/dialogue and the game would be fantastic

Last I heard though Sakurai only had plans for one KI game, and then disbanded the team that made the game or something along those lines, so I guess I can't get my hopes up. Would still be awesome though.

Outside of that I would love to see a new Metroid. Whether it be more like Prime in exploration and puzzles, a side-scrolling game like the originals, or even abother actiony game like Other M, I would be satisfied. or to get a bit more obscure, another Star tropics would be pretty exciting.

not sure about what you said on what sakurai said. but I thought I heard he is not planning another games until 25 years from now(or something like that) because he can't think of anything on how to improve on the game.

Aside from Smash Bros.... A new Metroid Prime game with incredible visuals that makes good use of the gamepad...and aside from that? Get this: NEW GAMES. New franchises that feel new and fresh, that provide cool experiences...and another shocking request from Nintendo: Something that provides a rich, deep, mature experience that will stay with me for months after I beat it. Nintendo hasn't made a game like that outside of Metroid and Zelda in a very long time. I just want something new from them. Something cool. That's really it.

I would get a Wii U for a Kid Icarus: Uprising sequel. It looks like another team would have to take over though, Sakurai isn't going to make another one. :(

Nonsense. No one is bitter about Nintendo. Their direction is their own problem. We're talking about potential customers here, and when push comes to shove, people have very short memories when you offer them something they really want.

It's justified criticism. Nintendo are making stupid decisions time and time again and it's only blind fanboys who are still with them.

"No one is bitter?" Seriously? Because Nintendo doesn't make a console that is a clone of the competition, every game that comes out for it comes along for the haterade train. "No it's justified criticism for their underpowered console" no it's people being babies because they aren't getting what they want.

[QUOTE="AmazonTreeBoa"]The Wii U hardware is current gen with a tablet controller. There is no such thing as a game that would make me want a Wii U. I already have a PS3 to cover current gen and it has a huge library of cheap games to pick from.LegatoSkyheart

but a PS3 can never have a Metroid.

I can more than live with that considering it isn't a series I have any interest in. You better come at me with something other than crappy first party Nintendo games.

Yet another crappy series. Again, you guys better mention something I like, which means avoid all Nintendo first party games.

Your loss.

Not a loss when it is something you DON'T want.

Then clearly the reason why you don't own a WiiU is because it doesn't Sony Exclusives.
