Just because a game has bad writing doesn't mean it's a bad game, look at Deus Ex for example.

Sure it's writing is bad but Xenogears along with most JRPG's released at that time are better the most JRPG's and in my opinion most games that come out today. Back then games focused on core mechanics and level design, and with some exception not all fully concentrated on "immersion" and "realism".

FFX's story was great but the level design sucked.

Star Ocean III was love it or hate it because of level design and broken combat system

Kingdom Hearts is nothing but a broken game with a broken combat system and level design and core game mechanics with the standards of 1998. *II needs no explanation*

FFX-2 was garbage.

FFXII was a slap in the face to JRPG gamers everywhere

Dawn of Mana was an embarassment to the franchise.

And I only left out FFXI and VP2 cause I have yet to play them.

Dragon Quest VIII was the only quality game they've released in my eyes, and it wasn't even made by them, it was made by Level-5.

Square-Enix SUCKS now. It's all about Atlus, NIS, and Level-5 for JRPG's, with a little Konami on the side.

what is that? I'm bias towards SE? I haven't bought a SE game since FFX. I actually don't play nor like RPGs anymore. I understand you like Bioware, but some of the comment I was hearing was just fanboyish. That's my two cents.

Yea...Retro actually kinda...IS Nintendo. They're a subsidiary of Nintendo now...I'm pretty sure Nintendo bought Retro...a really, really long time ago :|. So uh...Metroid Prime DEFINITELY does count...:|. And Nintendo and Blizzard doesn't seem like a good combination. Both make amazing games, and in my opinion, are THE TWO GREATEST developers in the business...period. Only problem is...the games they make are just so different. And they have tons of different ideas. I guess maybe if they could incorporate eachother's philosophies into their games...then it could be awesome. hahaha never gona happen tho :(
