Either Mass Effect, or Halo for me.
Gears of War stands out for me too, love those games to death.

Definitely this, no other trilogy had the combination of being as epic, having as good a story, and delivering as great an ending as this trilogy did....

It took someone until the 4th page to mention Baldur's Gate. I am seriously disappointed in SW.

Dunno why people call it a trilogy. Throne of Bhaal is a expansion. Just as Tales of the Sword Coast is a expansion for Baldur's Gate I.
Tales of the Sword Coast expands on to the original game seamlessly, like Lord of Destruction or Immortal Throne. Baldur's Gate 2 was a self-contained game telling the story of Irenicus among other things. Throne of Bhaal was a self-contained game and meant to wrap up the Bhaalspawn saga. So it is a trilogy.
Just like if Valve ever finished Episode 3 it would be: Half-life->Half-Life 2->Half-Life 3 (episodes), that would be a trilogy despite the episodes being considered an expansion.

Not really. MAss Effect details it's setting far more during the course of the game than either Metroid or Halo does.
waltefmoney
So? It's possible to prefer a series because of the actual setting and not the details.
Sure, I'm just telling which one done is better by objective criteria (ie..how well what's there is preseted)..everything else is subjective. Just like somebody might say Mario has better setting and lore than either Halo or Mass Effect because he prefers mushroom kingdom.Diablo (I know 3 is not out yet :P)
Followed by Timesplitters and Uncharted. I cannot give it to Metroid Prime, because 3 is just not that good.
1.Super Mario Bros
2.Sonic 1 to 3 and Knuckles which is supposed to be part of Sonic 3
3.Uncharted
4.Mass Effect
5.Metroid Prime

No.
Halo 1-3 are some of the best games I've ever played. Halo 3 being my favorite.
**** thats the most ridiculous thing ive ever heard get a ps3 asap Halo is also my favorite trilogy. Metroid Prime to me is more like Godfather territory. Amazing first 2 outings, really disappointing third outing. Personally I can't really remember a trilogy of games I liked where I felt all 3 delivered. jg4xchampGears of War?
[QUOTE="waltefmoney"][QUOTE="TheEroica"]Both are great franchises but neither have the depth and character development as well, story and presentation as mass effect. Gameplay is in the eye of the beholder. TheEroica
Uhm, so are story and presentation.
Maybe but really? Youre not gonna say with a straight face that metroid prime and halo trillogies have mass effect beat in that area.... its pointless. Having played all the games and read literally all the books of both the Halo and the Mass Effect franchises, I'd give Halo the edge overall, Mass Effect the edge within the games. The only problem with the Halo story is that so much core content is no where to be found within the games, not so for Mass Effect.[QUOTE="waltefmoney"]

Art, sound, setting and lore.
The setings and lore are both vastly inferior in Halo and especially Metroid. It could be different if we would talk about extended universe (novels etc), but in-game wise? Not even remotely close.
I would agree with this on all fronts.[QUOTE="Whiteblade999"]

NWN2 had a huge expansion pack called Mask of The Betrayer which continues on with the story, and also has a far better story than NMW2. Though still, it is a expansion upon NWN2. Same thing with Baldur's Gate 2 and Throne of Bhaal. Call them a trilogy if that's what your logic dictates, but i'm gonna call on Throne of Bhaal as being a expansion upon Baldur's Gate 2.
I agree with that, but solely because of recent novel developments. While Halo is rising to unseen heights thanks to brilliant Forerunner trilogy, with Mass Effect they switched writers and produced absolutely absymal in-game novelHaving played all the games and read literally all the books of both the Halo and the Mass Effect franchises, I'd give Halo the edge overall, Mass Effect the edge within the games.

Last one isn't even a trilogy :lol:Hmm...well the answer could be any of these:
God of War 1-2-3
Uncharted 1-2-3
Metal Gear Solid 1-2-3

u just became x1.5 more awesome than before!
Haha thanks. I love God of War! It's one of my all time favourite series, and the first game is probably my third most favourite game of all time![QUOTE="Spartan070"]Didn't know Stalker was a trilogy, thought there were only 2. I suddenly feel very foolish lol...[QUOTE="DraugenCP"]
Metroid Prime Trilogy and Stalker.
GiantAssPanda
But aren't those more spin offs than full on trilogies? Isn't there supposed to be a STALKER 2 coming out?
Anway back to the topic: The Halo trilogy
Well, you can count them as STALKER 1 trilogy. Just like Star Wars is two trilogies. But aren't those more spin offs than full on trilogies? Isn't there supposed to be a STALKER 2 coming out?

Gears of War? How is the guy that calls Gears of War 2 the Devil May Cry 2 of the gears of war series going to tell me all 3 games delivered? :P But yeah I mean I guess the coop camapigns in all 3 were good, but all the campaigns were kind of like honeymoon games. Awesome and fun while I'm playing, but once it left my system. Didn't ever want to do it again. Plus the first 2 had bonehead decisions that held back both multiplayer experiences. The Third one was a more complete mp experience...albeit the sawed off still blows, and gears 1 maps obliterate the maps in gears 3.[QUOTE="jg4xchamp"]Metroid Prime to me is more like Godfather territory. Yeah, Metroid's best aspect to a story standpoint is the way it tells a story. Not necessarily what it tells. Because what it tells is pretty lame. Please Log In to post.
