No...

GT5 will undoubtably have sales through the roof, (hell, the PROLOGUE version sold over 2 million) but it won't cause a gaming landslide. I do expect it to help the PS3 pick up sales though.

In other news... I CANNOT WAIT for GT5. :D

Only for people who like Gran Turismo. I, for one, can't stand racing games. Good luck to it beating Halo 3's sales, if MGS4 couldn't then I doubt GT5 will. And this is coming from someone who strongly dislikes Halo.Zweihand

I agree with the TC. When GT5 hits the shelves it will indeed be over.

Because while GT5 will sell pretty well, and while it will move some hardware units, it will not in fact make any significant dent by itself in the overall war.

Since this will be one of the last big name PS3 titles to hit the shelves, and it won't be till end 09 or maybe later, it will be effectively over at that time. By then, we will be over the halfway point and whatever marketshare each has is about where they are going to end up going into the next, next gen.

I was a big Gran Turismo nut back in the day myself. Guess what Forza is pretty damn good alternative.

I'm not knocking the PS3 but the only reason I myself would buy one would be for Gran Turismo. But Forza 3 is going to be huge as well.

it absolutely is not a simulator. It is a fun game though.

Forza Motorsports series poops all over the gt series. The only ones that don't see are blind fanboys who have only played grand turismo. First things first plz get rid of those BORING license test, Bumper car physics, and crappy A.I.

the only thing grand turismo has going for it are the graphics and music soundtracks, nothing else.

Forza is going to be an after thought, a shadow. Gran Turismo 5 is going to make Forza 3 fans stop in their tracks. Riots will appear at Turn 10 with angry Forza fans spouting their rage, as to why Gran Turismo 5 is better in almost every possible way.
