I love Nintendo's systems but Super Smash Bros main appeal is as a party game with all the characters together. The gameplay is not fun or fair and the balance is laughable.

No other company will be able to pull Super Smash Bros off because Super Smash Bros is only fun because the cast. Take away the cast and add another and you have a mediocre game.

True, but as long as I can have Samus, Ganon, Ness and Kirby mixing it up, its like the Expendables

Pretty much... Unless some guy constructed character models of Sweet Tooth and that chick from heavenly sword and made 8 pages of interviews up lol.

Plus a dev deleted their Twitter when revealed.

Funny thing is that based off the reveal they are going to base alot of it on SSBB so when the game comes out it will show how the game is not a competitive fighter and has joke gameplay. I mean I feel bad that this developer is going to have this game on their record but it will shut the Smash Bros fans up in fighting game discussions.

Tekken, DOA, Moral Kombat, Street Fighter, or King of Fighters for the Wii U > Super Smash Bros

Lol you will see when this game comes out to 6 scores... Super Smash Bros gets scored based on content, nostalgia, and fun not gameplay.

The original did not do outstanding on gamespot.

Melee has the best gameplay of the series (not saying much yet Brawl outscores it because of what is reviewed).

Again Sony does not have the Nostalgia to pull off super smash and it will show how shallow the gameplay is when the game flops.

The fact that the developers are fans of the smash games and are basing it off of the smash games (essentially copying the gameplay) makes this exposation inevitable.

[QUOTE="super600"][QUOTE="shadowchronicle"][QUOTE="Eponique"] They generate randomly at will in any spot on the stage. Imagine if a smash ball came and you were stuck in one part of the setting and the other person could hit the smashball. People can use items skillfully but it isn't skill when another player does not have the capability of using that item equally.

D4W1L4H

Nope the dev even compares characters to Brawl characters...

Kratos - Icarus

Snake- Drake

etc.

It is actually pretty funny they do not pretend to copy it... The only thing different is basically 3 levels for the smash attacks and the smash builds up I think rather than the orb.

So there will be gameplay differences but not large enough for Smash fans to argue that the reason it will fail is not because the core gameplay and how shallow it is.

Um what? Just because another company can't replicate Super Smash Bros. success doesn't mean that Super Smash Bros. is overrated in the least... Nintendo spends alot of time perfecting these games and brings them out when they are ready to be released. Just look how long it took to get Super Smash Bros. Brawl out the door and how much it was pushed back to make sure it is done right. Not only that but Super Smash Bros. does quite well with its own tournaments. The Super Smash Bros. series has quite abit more going for it than just the character lineup and just because another company fails to copy Nintendo's formula doesn't mean Smash Bros. is overrated. If that were true then anytime a developer tries to go for the same thing another developer did it would prove the original series was overrated and not that great which we all know isn't the case. This thread is full of fail logic.

Maybe a Smash brothers type game isn't a game the Sony base wants? Sony doesn't have enough notable characters to make a Smash game. That's the real problem.

Its all but officially confirmed...

There is plenty to go on and all the leaks point to Super Smash Bros.

Yes you are right but not many games have done one that plays like Super Smash where you knock your opponents off the edge and if they have then they were not successful.

I admit it is a bold move by Sony but not in the good way.

1) It is a blatant rip off of Super Smash Bros.

2) Sony does not have the history Nintendo has.

3) The core concept of Smash Bros is a shallow content heavy nostalgia fest.

Microsoft would not be able to pull it off either I admit but atleast they have masterchief...

You're still making a huge assumption here, plus there is a very successful series in Japan that uses a similar approach as Smash Bros. called Jump Ultimate Stars. Again because one company can't replicate it doesn't mean the original is overrated. And the reason there are so few attempts is because no one really has a stable of characters to draw on like Nintendo does. The lineup is a bonus but there is still a solid game beyond that.

Again fail logic is fail.

Also it is spelled apparently.

There was even a clone on the 360 that was not really that good. I forget the name I am sure someone here knows it. Only Capcom has made a SSB like game that was a success and they have not even done that in years.

1) I never said Gamespot did alone or that they have nostalgia of Super Smash Bros.

The first one did not do stellar so why would they.

I am saying a core element of super smash is nostalgia. Just like a core element of DOAXB2 is sex appeal...

2) Not really...

The first game did not do stellar because it was a low budget game that was originally never going to be released outside of Japan. There is a lot of skill needed to play smash brothers well, expectantly if you remove all the items. I am guessing you have never played anyone with a lot of skill otherwise you would not be saying a statement like this.
One of the reasons that made SSBB so nice was it's even nicer when you can design your own levels/matches not sure what the better term here. This was done before LBP.

[QUOTE="shadowchronicle"]I have a question, why the hell did they put snake in ssbm?HarlockJC

It was requested by the fans of the MGS games and ninty made a deal with konami to put him in the game.

It was the other way around Kogima had wanted Snake to be in SSBM but was too late. SSBB is not even the first fighter game that snake is in.

I never knew that part.

You know, you can remove items appearing on the game.

Heck you can even remove it by the item. There is a ton of options you can do with the items.

I think you mean SSBB. And Hideo Kojima asked them to put Snake in a Smash Bros. game during Melee's development.

They should remove the items and then I'll start saying it requires skills.

Turn Items off.
