50 * 5yrs = $250. There's 2 ways to play the numbers game.
....Wha..? This confuses me...

Yes but theres only one way to actually be relevant to the thread...$4 is pure bullocks and people need to stop spreading it. Lems and their nonsense. I just went on Amazon and saw a 12-month XBL card for $40. I'm no math experts but 40/12 =/= 4. Lems need to stop with the BS and come clean.Senor_Kami40/12 is 3.333 repeating which is even cheaper than $4
I paid $35 for my year's worth of Xbox Live so it actually averages out to be less than $4 a month for me. :D

You're trying way too hard bro.
Next time try to be relevant to the thread, k?

It's 7.99 or rounded up, $8 a month. I used to try and explain this to people and I gave up around 2007.
The misinformation spreads and now we see TC's asking questions. The most Damage control I've seen is the I only spend "$30 a year and it's great" without explaining to the SW poster that in reality they got a sale. It goes on and on. I try to pay less too, but I don't try to spread misinformation.
Everything else in SW isn't divided into months, but somehow Xbox Live Damage control is allowed and has been for years.
Sorry you had to find out the hard way TC.

Methinks it's sarcasm.
So are people still going to deny that Xbox Live is less than $4 a month or do we need to keep explaining in layman's terms basic arithmetic one would learn in public schooling at the age of 10.

Guess I'll answer you with Solidty's answer:

Feeling irrelevant to the thread today? Even with those numbers, XBL is still $4 a month. It's 7.99 or rounded up, $8 a month. I used to try and explain this to people and gave up around 2007.

Ok, am I going insane here? XBL is $50/yr. That comes out to a little more than $4 a month. How is it $8 a month?
No one is spreading misinformation, they're just paying $50 a year, which I thought was the norm... :?
I waste so much money eating out that *****ing about the cost of Xbox Live is just senseless for me.

People accept the fact that XBL costs is calculated to $4 per month, while all other facts, despite being along the exact same line of thinking, are "irrelevant".

The Xbox Live monthly charge is $8, however, the annual charge is $50. Why are we breaking up the annual charge into per month? Then the information gets diluted, and we have confused posters, like the TC of this thread.
I understand the breakdown, and as I tried to explain to folks other people don't. Also, the official monthly charge for Xbox Live is $7.99 per month. Besides, why are we breaking it down. Why not break down other products per month?
How come nobody ever talks about the 100's of dollars Xbox Live costs over the years? I know I've bought a PS3 and Wii with the money I've spent on the service starting at just this generation (of course, I have two Xbox 360's and two Xbox Live accounts).

You are a terrible consumer then. So, you are saying that you would pay $999.99 for a PS3 when you can get one for $299.99?am i missing something here? its 60$ for me at eb games:?...
Revolution316
Don't buy at EB games then.
It's coming from the fact that you can find XBL subscriptions at a rate equivalent to or lower than that. It's not uncommon for amazon to have $35 12 month subscription cards, which equates out to $2.91 a month. I understand this is system wars and people aren't always grounded in reality, but the reality of the situation is that consumers do not consider MSRP when they make a purchase, they consider the price they are able to get it for.
