I bought a Ps3 and I've made good use of it so i'm satisfied. I've also bought a DS made an extremely good use of it so i'm more than happy on the Handheld bandwagon. However.... I'm very very very disappointed at my purchase of a Wii which if it wasn't for Super Smash brother's brawl it would not have been justified :[
Fire Emblem and arc rise fantasia are fantastic but still not good enough to drag a console by themselves.
Wii owners. Easily. Sure, the game library has its gems, but the online generally isn't that good, rarely do we see DLC, and ports are usually gimped in some way. I like my Wii and I have plenty of games for it, but the system got the short end of the stick most of this gen.
PS3 and Sony.
I still have absolutely no idea what their strategy is/was with that platform. It's had a lot of issues since it's launch and it continues. The initial price, removal of features, PSN leak/shutdown, getting the worst version of most multiplats (even 5 years later), etc.
Wii's problem was missing out on multiplats, but for what it missed out it gained in exclusives.
I'd have to go with the PS3, because PS3 owners got hit with so many things they didn't expect it isn't funny. Such as,
- US$600,00 launch price.
- Lack of BC/faulty BC.
- Shifty internet service. Being free is a huge advantage over XBL, but having a unique gaming service shut down for over a month is completely unnaceptable.
- Poor performance on a few multi-plats (honorable mentions go to Bethesda games, most notoriously Skyrim, and Bayonetta) and overall reduced quality when compared to the 360's version of the multi-plat.
Whereas 360 and Wii owners got what they expected. People didn't buy into the 360 thinking they'd get free online gaming, nor did Wii owners expect HD graphics comparable to the other two consoles. They knew it, and they bought their consoles regardless: any dissapointments were foreseen, and not major surprises.
Though I still want to get one, it does seem like the PS3 had the most of bad luck to it.
Wii would follow.
PS3 and Sony.

This.
I don't see how the Wii lost in the long run. Tons and tons of great games on that platforn, and Skyward Sword and Xenoblade are just icing on the cake.
Whoever says PS3 needs a Reality check.
The PS3 GOT Multiplats. Whether they were good or not, They STILL got them.
The Nintendo Wii didn't even get mentioned and when the Wii finally gets a game from a 3rd Party it gets turned into some Onrail crap that doesn't even have it's place in the Series.
The Wii is the one system that got shafted the most this gen.
Whaa...?The Nintendo Wii didn't even get mentioned and when the Wii finally gets a game from a 3rd Party it gets turned into some Onrail crap that doesn't even have it's place in the Series.

The only third party on-rail games in those categories the Wii ever had was Resident Evil Chronicles and Dead Space Extraction. Heck I remember YOU acknowledging other third party games that aren't on rails like Goldeneye (FPS), Tatsunoko vs Capcom (Fighting), and Sonic Colors (Platformer).
I bought a Wii thinking I would be able to swing Links sword around in real life, shoot while pointing at the screen in Metroid, experience a brand new 3D Mario platformer, and play many other amazing first party Nintendo titles. I got exactly that.
I bought a 360 thinking I could play quality HALO titles and various shooters, experience quality online gaming on a console, and I got exactly that.
I bought PS3, thinking I could play great Ratchet and Clank, Jak and Daxter, Ico, Shadow of the colossus, and other great Sequels to PS2 games. What I got was awful spinoffs and HD remakes. Oh, and Interactive movies.
:o What's that!?

Let me explain, I was talking about Resident Evil and Dead Space Extraction.
those two series of games (Dead Space and Resident Evil) had NO BUSINESS going the On Rail Route AT ALL.

And YOU said that was all the Wii had in terms of third party according to your first post of this thread.360 No doubt about it. RROD, Live fee with ads, Live fee increase, paying twice for certain services in USA, money going to acquiring monthlong exclusivity, after Kinect support dropped dead, one SKU without HDD, HDDVD that failed, overpriced accessories.
Sony had removal of features and a failed sixaxis.
Nintendo fans got shafted by 3rd party.
I dunno... there's plenty to complain about on all 3
Microsoft: RROD, Live fees, decline in quantity of exclusives over the years (per year, obviously not collectively), shift to Kinect focus
Sony: $599, BC cut out, PSN hack and Sony's treatment of it, inferior online service (has greatly improved though), lack of quantity of exclusives at beginning of gen, lots of bs promises were never kept,
Nintendo: Wii started out casual and ended casual, crappy online system, gimmicky controller, Wii can't even play DVD, killing GBA BC support in later iterations of the DS,
I would say Nintendo based off the three consoles but Nintendo did right by the DS. So that leaves me to choose Sony... barely.
ps3 gamers were shafted in the earlier years; less games, less features, high price (if that bothers you)
360 gamers were also shafted in earlier years because of RROD, and later years because of the lack of games (though most people seem to be fine with just COD and Gears)
Nintendo gamers were screwed from the get go; some good exclusive games, but none of the multiplats.

Sony made the PS3 a Blu-Ray player first and game console second.

[QUOTE="Deathtransit"] And Live fees.Haiyama
And no exclusives.
And multi-disc games.
And Sesame Street.
I don't get how "Wii owners" feel shafted, you got what you bought based a comparison between what Nintendo presented and what they gave us.
Nintendo fans feeling shafted by Wii, that's a different story.
Yeah I don't think there was a difference between what people expected of the Wii and what they got. The only thing could be you expected more 3rd party exclusives.I don't get how "Wii owners" feel shafted, you got what you bought based a comparison between what Nintendo presented and what they gave us.

Over all then the PS3 for the $600 price tag. PS3 is the best thing out now currently towards the end. But the question is, is that really good enough. The PS3 has been lacking for most of this gen really. While the 360 came out gunning their way to the top early n often to begin the gen. The Wii killed the sales market but their games hold little to anyone over the age of 12.
I think overall the Wii delivered the best to what its market n fan base is mostly made up of. The 360 did the best until Kinect got announced. N the PS3 did the worst until middle to near end.
The answer is the PS3. I am really a sony fan and always been one. I owned every sony system ps1 ps2 psp. The ps3 failed hard in my eyes n never was an option for me. The ps4 well thats a wait n see but if your asking me honestly then PS4 is what I am looking at as I have never been a fan to paying for online gaming. But the best this gen is the 360.
All 3 bases have been shafted
Nintendo: Focusing on the casual market and abandoning portions of their old userbase, not being as brawny as the HD twins, controller not liked by some gamers and the online being gimped.
Sony:High launch prices,YLOD,PSN fiasco and general Sony attitude early in the gen towards it being bluray first.
MS: DLC became more the norm,RROD,Live fees and over the past year doing a nintendo and going after the casual pie and abandoning the core gamers to a heavy extent.
For me it was PS3. The PS3 was supposed to be the 'mmo console' and one of the main reasons I bought a PS3. A year and a half ago SOE said the Agency, Planetside 2 and Everquest Next were all being planned and/or considered for the PS3.
Looks like none are coming out now. The only MMO that ever came out from SOE was DCUO and it looks like it will be the last SOE MMO for the PS3.
The casual focus isn't anything new to them. They've been doing it since NES.All 3 bases have been shafted
